    Japanese, Cs leaching was evaluated by a long-term leaching test on cement-geopolymer (GP) solidified Cs adsorbed zeolite (natural mordenite), a candidate for final disposal of fly ash generated from thermal treatment of decontaminated waste. The leaching tests were conducted in accordance with the ANSI 16.1 method, replacing the solvent in appropriate interval. In addition, changes in Cs leaching behavior due to freezing and thawing of the specimens and immersion in seawater were evaluated, assuming specimen degradation and contact with high-salinity solution, which are expected in an actual disposal environment. As a result, it was clarified that Cs leaching from the cement/GP solidified Cs adsorbed zeolite is determined by diffusion in the solid phase. Freeze-thawing did not affect the Cs leaching rate, but when the specimen was immersed in sea water Cs leaching was accelerated. When the cement solidified body was immersed in seawater, Cs leaching was suppressed by surface precipitates. The cumulative Cs elution rate was below 0.6% even after 100 days of immersion in seawater, and the incremental Cs concentrations in leachant were within the order of concentration standards in environmental water. The results indicate that zeolites can be promising candidate as a final disposal form that retains Cs for a long period of time.
  • Comparison of NOX emission behavior for air- and oxyfuel- combustion of solid waste in a vertical combustor

    Japanese, In the context of global warming, various efforts are being made to reduce GHG emissions in the waste sector. CCUS of CO2 in exhaust gas can be one of the effective methods. Oxyfuel combustion has attracted attention as a new combustion method, in which a mixture of oxygen and exhaust gas is injected into the furnace for combustion. Various studies of oxyfuel combustion have been conducted in Japan toward the commercialization of oxyfuel combustion power plants, , mainly at thermal power plants and its effect of reducing NOX emissions has been reported. In the case of waste combustion, fuel NOX accounts for the majority of the NOX generated, and the effect of reducing NOX by oxyfuel combustion is not clear. In this study, we investigated the NOX generation characteristics of air and oxyfuel combustion of waste through laboratory experiments and simulations using a vertical stoker-type incinerator as a model. As a result, no significant difference was found in the amount of NOX generated by both air and oxyfuel combustions. One of the reasons is thought to be that the effect of reduction of thermal NOX by oxyfuel combustion is relatively decreased in the operating temperature range of waste incinerators.
  • Characterization of char derived from solid wastes with CO2 as career gas

    Japanese, Carbonisation is focused as a carbon recycling and carbon storage technology for waste. The resulting char can be used for a variety of purposes. The ash-rich char also has the effect of making solid carbon more persistent and storing it in the ground. In conventional carbonisation, nitrogen is used as a carrier gas, pyrolysis gas is burnt and the combustion gas is returned to the carbonisation furnace and used as a carrier gas (heat source) for carbonisation. When the carrier gas is carbon dioxide and the combustible gas is burnt with oxygen, the main component of the combustion gas is carbon dioxide, which can be used as a carrier gas for carbonisation and as a CCUS for exhaust gas, even negative emissions of carbon can be expected. In this study, the characteristics of carbides produced with carbon dioxide as a carrier gas were evaluated from the two axes of carbon recycling (fuel and material utilisation) and carbon storage (pre-processing before landfill), comparing them with carbides produced with nitrogen carrier gas. Under the conditions of the present study, the carbides obtained were almost the same as those produced by conventional carbides.
  • Effect of high concentration of CO2 in waste Incineration flue gas on HCl and SOx removal rate

    Japanese, Oxyfuel combustion technology, in which pure oxygen is mixed with recirculated exhaust gas and supplied to the furnace instead of combustion air, is attracting attention as part of CCUS technology in response to the global warming issue. Since the main component of the exhaust gas in this combustion method is CO2, high concentrations of CO2 can be directly recovered without separating N2 gas, which is a great advantage for reducing total CO2 emissions. In this study, acid gas removal experiments using slaked lime were conducted in a lab-scale experiment simulating a dust collector to investigate the effect of applying oxygen combustion to a waste incineration facility on conventional acid gas dry removal. As a result, it was confirmed that the acid gas removal rate decreased due to the reaction between slaked lime and CO2 under high temperature conditions, suggesting that the simultaneous application of oxygen combustion and high temperature dust collection may reduce the acid gas removal efficiency.

    Japanese, Oxyfuel combustion is one of promising solid waste incineration methods as part of CCUS technology in response to the global warming issue. Since the main component of the exhaust gas is CO2 by supplying pure oxygen with recirculated exhaust gas to the furnace instead of combustion air, the high concentrations of CO2 can be directly recovered without separating N2 gas, which is a great advantage for reducing total CO2 emissions. In this study, thermogravimetric analysis and kinetics analysis of RDF pyrolysis and char combustion were conducted under CO2 and N2 atmosphere to investigate the effect of oxyfuel combustion on waste incineration in a vertical stoker-type furnace. As a result, no significant differences were observed in pyrolysis and combustion behavior depending on two different atmospheric gases. The results of kinetics analysis showed that the kinetics triplets tended to be somewhat larger when CO2 gas was used for reaction, but the difference was not so great especially for char combustion. It was concluded that the decomposition rate of the sample was dominated by the O2 gas rather than N2 or CO2 gas during combustion.
  • Effect of intermittent water vapor addition on the removal efficiency of HCl and SOX in dry scrubbing of waste incineration flue gas

    Japanese, In this study, the direct addition of water vapor to the waste incineration flue gas was investigated to improve the acid gas removal efficiency of dry scrubbing using slaked lime. Using a laboratory-scale experimental apparatus simulating a bag filter (BF), the effect of water vapor addition conditions on the reaction mechanism of slaked lime and acid gas as well as the acid gas removal rate was evaluated. As a result, the removal efficiency of hydrogen chloride was most improved when the water vapor was added by the 200% of the amount of slaked lime deposited on the BF. However, the improvement of the removal efficiency of sulfur oxides was not observed under the coexistence of hydrogen chloride even in the same condition of water vapor addition. For the application of this method to the actual dry scrubbing system, further investigation should be performed in relation to the operating conditions such as the numbers and intervals of water vapor addition.
  • IMPROVEMENT OF INSOLUBILIZATION EFFICIENCY OF CESIUM IN FLY ASH BY ALKALI FELDSPAR USING ROTARY KILN

    Japanese, At present, to reduce the volume of decontamination waste, thermal treatment is carried out. In the thermal treatment, cesium (Cs) is volatilized and separated, resulting in fly ash containing much radioactive Cs. Cs in this fly ash is a chloride and is soluble. For safe final disposal, it is preferable that Cs in fly ash is insoluble. In this study, applying the mechanism that alkali feldspar makes Cs insoluble under heating conditions, whether the efficiency of insolubilization of Cs in fly ash improves was investigated by using rotary kiln. Indian feldspar, fly ash, and cesium chloride were mixed and heated at 700°C in a rotary kiln. No effect of rotating speed on Cs insolubilization was observed. After heating at 4 rpm of rotating speed and 700°C of temperature for 15 hours, 99% of the added cesium became insoluble. Even the addition ratio of Indian feldspar is reduced to about 80% of the amount of fly ash, by heating the mixture for 15 hours, 96% insolubilization of Cs was achieved.

    Japanese, 重曹を用いた酸性ガスの乾式処理において、高い除去率を得るために行っていた重曹の微粉化の代わりに重曹を粉砕せず真空加熱し多孔質の炭酸ナトリウムをあらかじめ製造し、酸性ガス処理に用いる方法を検討した。その結果、圧力が多孔質炭酸ナトリウムの比表面積に支配的な製造条件であり、低圧のほど重曹の分解で生成したガスが固体表面から放出しやすくなり、より細かい細孔が発達することが確認できた。比表面積4m²/g以上の炭酸ナトリウムであれば、既存の微粉重曹と同等の酸性ガス除去性能が得られること、なおかつ、そのような多孔質炭酸ナトリウムは粗重曹を180℃、50kPaでの真空加熱で製造できることがわかった。
  • Clarification of the chemical form of lead in fly ash insolubilized by co-heating with aluminosilicate

    Japanese, Fly ash generated from municipal solid waste incinerator contains high concentrations of hazardous heavy metals. So it must be treated to inhibit their leaching for final disposal. In previous study, it was confirmed that cesium leaching was significantly suppressed after co-heating with aluminosilicates. Cesium was captured in amorphous phase and insolubilized. When this method was applied to municipal solid waste incineration fly ash, a decrease in lead leaching concentration was also confirmed. However, since lead forms hydroxide precipitates at high pH, it is not clear whether the reduction in leaching concentration is due to trapping by aluminosilicates or precipitation formation. The objective of this study was to clarify the chemical form of lead after co-heating with aluminosilicates. After heating of the mixture of aluminosilicates and fly ash and removing soluble lead, pH-dependence test was performed. As a result, the lead leaching concentration increased with decreasing pH, and there was no difference in the elution concentration with and without co-heating. Thus, decrease of leaching concentration of lead after co-heating with aluminosilicates is not capturing but just formation of hydroxides.

    Japanese, ごみ焼却より発生する焼却灰と飛灰成分の約2割はカルシウムである。しかし、飛灰中のCa化合物は酸性ガスとの反応生成物が主成分であることに対し、焼却灰はCaCO3、CaO、Ca鉱物類が主成分であり、その中でもCaO、CaCO3は酸性ガス除去に有効な成分である。本研究ではごみ焼却排ガス処理に使用される消石灰の代替として焼却灰を用いる案を検討した。300 µm以下の水冷後の焼却灰(Ca含有量:39~46%)は,170℃にて消石灰の約6~8割に相当するHCl除去性能を示した。焼却灰のうちの有効成分として10~15%であるもののBF吹込み消石灰の一部を代替できる可能性が十分考えられる。一方、焼却灰の炉内噴霧は炉内での直接的なHCl除去には効果がないが、高温下でCa化合物がCaOに分解されることにより、排ガスとともに下流側に流れる際にHCl除去に寄与する可能性が示唆された。
  • Study on the capturing mechanism of Cs in fly ash by amorphized potassium feldspar

    Japanese, Potassium feldspar captures Cs by co-heating with cesium-containing fly ash. The optimum temperature is 700 °C. However, it is unclear why Cs is captured at 700 °C. Therefore, in this study, amorphized potassium feldspar and CsCl were co-heated at various temperatures, and the form of each element contained in the residue after heating was analyzed. And the structural change in the heating process was also investigated. As a result, it was clarified that ion exchange occurred among them because almost the same amount of K and Na as Cs, which became poorly soluble, became easily soluble. The exchange reaction proceeded rapidly from around 400 ° C. From the XRD analysis of the heating process, although CsCl disappeared, the formation of KCl could not be confirmed, suggesting that a solid solution of Cs and K was formed. Furthermore, it was considered possible that these existed as amorphous rather than crystalline.
  • Study on the method to improve capturing efficiency of cesium in fly ash by co-heating with alkali feldspar

    Japanese, Since cesium in fly ash generated from thermal treatment for volume reduction process is highly concentrated and easily soluble, it is effective to make cesium insoluble for safe disposal. In previous studies, insolubilization of cesium was achieved by co-heating fly ash containing cesium with alkali feldspar. In this reaction, potassium in feldspar exchanges with cesium in fly ash, and feldspar captures cesium into amorphous phase and makes cesium insoluble. In previous studies, though cesium capturing efficiency was more than 90%, it is desirable to increase the efficiency to nearly 100% because cesium that cannot be captured requires further treatment. In this study, methods to further improve cesium capturing efficiency were examined. It was supposed that cesium was not captured due to insufficient contact between potassium and cesium. Thus, whether the capturing efficiency could be increased by improving the contact condition was examined. As a result, it was found that premixing by planetary mill increased the contact opportunities between potassium and cesium and the capturing efficiency was increased to almost 100%. Furthermore, it was found that the capturing efficiency was improved by repeating heating and cooling.
  • Effect of internal conditions in the hazardous waste landfill on the leaching behavior of heavy metals in fly ash

    Japanese, Hazardous waste landfill where waste exceeding the leaching criteria is disposed of doesn't allow rainwater or air are entering. As the results, waste may keep its leaching potential similar to that at the time of disposal. In this study, numerical calculations were performed in order to confirm whether or not the leaching suppression of heavy metals, which occurs in non-hazardous waste landfill, occurs, when the internal condition of hazardous waste landfill is intentionally controlled. The model used was a combination of a landfill simulator that mainly calculated degradation process of organic matter and a geochemical model (PHREEQC). MSW fly ash was subjected to the calculation. And although no intrusion of rainwater was set, the initial moisture content was set to be maintained during entire calculation period. In addition, regarding gas composition, CO2 concentration was changed for 350ppm, 50%, 80%, and 100%. The calculation was performed for 100 years. In case of Pb, the mineral species produced were Pb(OH)2, PbCO3, Pb3(OH)2(CO3)2. And the higher the CO2 concentration, the faster the time when PbCO3 becomes the main component. And the liquid phase concentration of Pb was dominated by it.
  • Simultaneous effects of airflow and temperature increase on water removal in bio-drying

    Japanese, Demolition work of Fukushima nuclear power plant is going to be commenced. Since the volume of contaminated waste concrete is estimated to be huge, volume reduction of it is required. In order to separate clean concrete from contaminated concrete, it is necessary to know how deep radionuclide invaded into concrete. Considering the dose rate, Cs-137 and Sr-90 deem to be important. However, they have different mobility, it is necessary to separate them. In the previous study, by focusing on the energy difference of beta-ray between them, separation was attempted putting a PET plate shield between the IP and the contaminated concrete sample, but the measurement with sufficient accuracy was not obtained. In this study, to improve the accuracy of separation, separation of Cs and Sr was attempted by using shields with different densities and thicknesses. The shielding ability is determined by the product of the density and the thickness. As a result of measurement for various set of shield and concrete samples which are exposed to Cs-137 and Sr-90, high separation accuracy was obtained when using a shield with high density and thin thickness.
  • Study on insolubilization of radioactive Cs in contaminated fly ash using aluminosilicate

    Japanese, It has been confirmed in previous studies that aluminosilicate (alkali feldspar or feldspar synthetic reagent (sol reagent)) captures Cs in fly ash by co-heating and makes Cs insoluble. However, up to now, stable Cs has been used, and it has not been confirmed whether this capturing occurs even actual polluted ash containing radioactive Cs. Therefore, in this study, the co-heating experiment with aluminosilicate was conducted using the actual contaminated fly ash generated in Fukushima prefecture and the simulated contaminated ash added with radioisotope (Cs-137). As a result, the aluminosilicate captured Cs even if it was radioactive Cs, and makes Cs insoluble. It was confirmed that the capturing efficiency is higher as the amount of aluminosilicate is higher, and that if the aluminosilicate of about 3 times the amount of fly ash is added, Cs becomes insoluble state at an efficiency of 98% or more.
  • Long-term change of leaching behavior of hexavalent chromium contained in the refractory materials disposed at the hazardous waste landfill and its control measure

    Japanese, The hazardous waste landfill site is required to appropriately store the harmful substances contained in the hazardous waste and prevent the discharge of them to the outside, semipermanently. From a long-term perspective, the risk of structural deterioration and disasters can be considered, but in such an event, the release of harmful substances must be avoided. A previous study investigating the waste actually accepted at the hazardous waste landfill site found that refractory bricks used in the melting furnace was major waste accepted. This is because the leaching concentration of hexavalent chromium exceeds the criterion. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a weathering acceleration experiment on refractory bricks from which hexavalent chromium leaches out, and examined the effect of environmental conditions in the hazardous waste landfill site on the dissolution behavior of chromium. As a result, it was confirmed that under humid conditions, the leaching of hexavalent chromium was significantly reduced.
  • Improvement of the capturing ratio of Cs in concentrates generated by volume reduction process using aluminosilicate

    Japanese, The thermal treatment for volume reduction of decontamination waste generated by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident has an issue that it generates fly ash containing easily soluble and high concentration of Cs. Since long-term safe storage of fly ash is required, to change the form of Cs from mobile to immobile is necessary. Co-heating fly ash containing Cs with aluminosilicate achieves insolubilization of Cs. However, the rate of insoluble Cs decreased as the fly ash amount increased. The aim of this study is to maintain the high rate of insoluble Cs even when the amount of fly ash increased. Since it was found that the alkaline element in the fly ash inhibited the capturing of Cs, we thought that by the addition of silicate minerals which don’t contain alkaline element (diatomaceous earth, kaolinite), they may capture the alkaline element. As a result, it was confirmed that these minerals are possible to capture alkali elements and increase the ratio of insoluble Cs. Especially, it was found that by adding kaolinite at a heating temperature of 800°C, the rate of insoluble Cs could be maintained at the highest rate.
  • Prodution of porous sodium carbonate for dry-scrubbing of MSWI flue gas by vacuum thermal treatment of sodium bicarbonate

    Japanese, 重曹は,ごみ焼却排ガス中の塩化水素および硫黄酸化物の乾式処理に用いられる代表的なアルカリ剤である。しかし,反応効率を上げる目的で行われている重曹の微粉化は,貯留槽内での架橋発生を抑制するための添加薬剤の使用等によるコスト増加の原因となり,重曹利用の妨げとなっている。本研究では,重曹を微粉化せず,真空加熱処理を行うことであらかじめ多孔質化したソーダ灰を製造し,酸性ガス処理に用いる方法を検討した。その結果,粗重曹を180℃,30 kPaで真空加熱すると,多孔質化が進み,粉砕重曹を180℃で加熱したものより高い比表面積と塩化水素除去性能を持つソーダ灰が得られることがわかった。なおかつ,薬剤の吹込みによるバグフィルタ差圧低減効果も期待される。今回の研究より,微粉化によって生じる問題点を解決しながら,重曹のメリットを活かせる新たな手法を提案することができた。
  • Study on low leaching rates of salts from bottom ashes municipal solid waste incinerators

    Japanese, 焼却主灰の分析を行った先行研究において,可溶性金属と考えられているNa, Cl, K等の溶出率が非常に低いことがわかった。その原因の一つとして主灰の水冷後の炭酸化が挙げられ,生成したカルサイト(CaCO3)が主灰粒子を被覆し,塩類や重金属類の不溶化を引き起こしていると考えられた。仮説を検証するために,本研究では,告示13号溶出試験に加え,pH依存性試験,900℃加熱後の溶出試験を行い,溶出率の変化を調べた。しかし,Ca,ICの溶出率はpH依存性を示したことに対し,Na, K, Clの溶出率はpHに依存せずほぼ一定でお互いに溶出挙動が異なっており,炭酸化が直接的な原因とは言えない結果となった。一方,主灰の900℃加熱前後の溶出試験結果を比較すると,Na, K, Clにおいて加熱灰の溶出濃度が加熱前の約10%まで低下するなど,焼却過程における主灰の溶融度合が塩類の溶出に大きく影響していると推察された。

    Japanese, 竪型ストーカ炉は,一定高さで堆積させたごみを炉下から低空気比の一次燃焼空気を供給することで熱分解し,発生した熱分解ガスを二次燃焼空気より効率よく燃焼するものである。消石灰による処理前から排ガス中塩化水素濃度が低く,炉内のごみ層の中でアルカリ金属より捕捉された可能性が考えられた。しかし,竪型ストーカ炉の主灰への塩素移行量を調査した結果,30%程度であり,従来ストーカ炉との差は認められなかった。一方,竪型ストーカ炉の排ガス中塩化水素濃度の測定結果から,塩化水素の捕捉は主に焼却炉と再燃焼室,さらには減温塔の間で起こっていると示唆された。そこには,ばいじん中の酸化カルシウムと塩化水素の反応が関与している可能性が考えられた。本現象が竪型ストーカ炉特有のものであるかは今後の課題である。従来ストーカ炉においても同様の調査を行い,炉内での塩化水素低減メカニズムを明らかにする必要がある。
  • Evaluation methodology on flowability of on-site produced slaked lime

    Japanese, Slaked lime is commonly used as alkali agent for dry scrubbing of hydrogen chloride and sulfur oxides in flue gas discharged from municipal solid waste incinerators (MSWIs). As the utilization amount of slake lime is the most among chemicals used in MSWI, its impact on the operating cost is significant. For this reason, the on-site production of slaked lime was attempted by using cheap quicklime and a simplified hydrator in MSWI. However, the discharge problem of fly ash occurred at the hopper of bag filter (BF) owing to the poor flow property of on-site produced slaked lime when it was tested in the demonstration facility. In this study, we developed lab-scale of flowability tests to evaluate the flow property of produced slaked lime as well as to find the optimum condition of on-site production.
  • Factors affecting on leaching of lead from municipal solid waste incinerator residues

    Japanese, 焼却により発生した飛灰と主灰のうち,飛灰は特別管理一般廃棄物に該当するため,キレート処理などにより重金属に対して不溶化処理を行うことが義務付けられている。一方,主灰についても鉛の有害性判定基準である溶出濃度0.3mg/Lを超えるものがある。本研究では主灰を対象とし,灰の組成から,鉛溶出量への影響因子と鉛溶出量の関係を明らかにすることを目的とした。

    鉛含有量は試料間に大きな差はなかったが,溶出濃度にばらつきが見られた。鉛は両性金属であるため,高pH域で溶出濃度が高く,pHと酸化カルシウム量との間に正の相関が見られた。主灰の水冷時に酸化カルシウムは水和反応により水酸化カルシウムとなり,ピット保管時に大気中の二酸化炭素によって炭酸化が起こる。この炭酸化によりpHが減少するため,ピット保管時の炭酸化の進行度により,鉛の溶出濃度に差が生じると考えられる。

    Japanese, 現在日本では低炭素社会の実現に向けてバイオマスの利用を行う自治体が増えている。生ごみのメタン発酵もその一つだが、生ごみの分別には収集コストや住民負担の増加などのデメリットもある。一方で混合収集したごみを機械選別によってメタン発酵ごみ(生ごみ、紙)と焼却ごみ(布、プラスチック等)に分けて処理するコンバインドシステムが注目されてきている。本研究では実際の施設を対象としてサンプリング、分析を行い物質収支を調べた。分析項目は含水率、ごみ組成、可燃分、TOC、酸素消費量、BMP(メタン発生ポテンシャル)である。組成ごとに可燃分,炭素量,生物分解性炭素量を求め,水分,組成の選別率のほかに,生物分解性炭素の移行率を推定した。
  • Influencing factor on acid gas removal and flow characteristics of slaked lime in onsite production process

    Japanese, 最近,焼却施設オンサイトで安価な生石灰から消石灰を製造し,塩化水素と硫黄酸化物の乾式処理に用いることで排ガス処理コストを削減しようとする試みがある。本研究はその基礎研究として生石灰とラボスケールの消化装置を用い,滞留時間,水添加率,撹拌速度,薬剤添加の製造条件が消石灰の物性に及ぼす影響を調べてこれらの物性と酸性ガス除去性能およびハンドリング性との関係を明らかにした。本装置では滞留時間46分以上で98%の高い消化率が得られた。水添加率= 2.5で製造した消石灰は相対的にハンドリング性の指標が悪くなっていたが,薬剤添加により多少の改善効果が得られた。酸性ガス除去性能は水添加率=2.5,撹拌速度20rpmの条件で最も高かったが,薬剤添加によるさらなる性能向上は見られなかった。

    Japanese, Scientific journal, In order to clarify the leachability of cesium from bottom ash of municipal solid waste, sequential extraction, pH dependence test, and temperature dependence test were conducted. Bottom ash was obtained by incinerating RDF or wood chips to which stable cesium solution was added. It was found that the cesium fraction distribution pattern of bottom ash from wood chips except water soluble fraction was similar to that of actual bottom ash. Less than a pH of 5, cesium leaching ratio was largely increased with decrease in pH. Over a pH of 5, cesium leaching ratio was almost same as that at natural pH. Increase of cesium leaching ratio at 60°C was 1.2 times higher than that at 20°C in average. Therefore, the effect of pH and temperature on cesium leaching would be negligible in actual landfill conditions. Cesium in residual state would be present with aluminum and iron that were insoluble in reduction condition.

    Phase transformation and leaching of cesium from incineration bottom ash were investigated by conducting accelerating weathering experiment. Four kinds of weathering condition were set; namely, blank (under nitrogen gas condition), wetting and drying, freezing and thawing, and exposure to carbon dioxide gas. Leaching of cesium under blank condition didn't change. On the other hand, drastic decrease of leaching of cesium was identified under carbon dioxide exposure. From XRD analysis, formation of calcite was identified. It deemed that newly formed calcite inhibited the leaching of Cs by covering reactive surface of bottom ash. In both wetting-drying and freezing-thawing condition, leaching of Cs increased initially. But it decreased after several weeks then it became lower than blank finally. This decrease of leaching also seems to be caused by formation of calcite.

    本研究では、活性炭の代わりに300℃の高温条件でDXNを直接分解できる、安価で安全な無機性材料として活性白土に検討を行った。活性白土中に含まれている金属成分をさらに添加することで、300℃でのMCBの脱塩素化への影響を調べた。添加した金属化合物のうち、Fe2O3、Cuの添加によりMCB分解量が増加することがわかった。また、金属化合物の添加量とMCB分解量が比例していることから、活性白土内に含まれているこれらの成分がMCBの脱塩素化に寄与している可能性が示唆された。

    The aim of this study is clarifying the leaching behavior of hardly-soluble cesium contained in bottom ash and the factor affecting its leaching behavior. For this purpose, pH dependence test, determination of the Cs content by different particle size and pH dependence test of different particle size fraction were conducted. incineration bottom ashes that was artificially created to contain cesium in high content was used. In pH dependence test, solvents were prepared by using nitric acid to be target pH from 1.9 to 10.8. As the results, leaching amount of hardly-soluble cesium increased together with silicon and aluminum along with decrease of pH. Hardly-soluble cesium combining with aluminosilicate or existing in glassy amorphous phase was deemed to be leached out by the exposure to strong acid. However, the low pH performed in the test never occur in real incineration ashes because pH of ashes is generally high and pH of ash that passed for a long period of time is reported to be almost 8.5. Leaching ratio of cesium is only 2 to 3% at such pH. Content of Cs in each particle size was not different and difference of leaching behavior were not observed either.
  • Influence of bottom ash solidification on leaching behavior of heavy metals

    "Solidified condition" and "Un-solidified condition" were made by using same bottom ash and their leaching characteristics of heavy metals were examined by column leaching test. It was confirmed that although ash that contains CaO or Ca(OH)2 tends to solidify, repetition of wetting and drying made the ash not solidify. Two kinds of ash were made to solidified and un-solidified state respectively. And they were subjected to the column leaching test in which the ashes were exposed to atmosphere or CO2. Cumulative leaching amount of Ca under CO2 condition increased because CaCO3 was thought to be dissolved by pH drop. This indicated that severe exposure to CO2 tends to increase leaching amount of metals. Regarding Pb, cumulative leaching amount increased in solidified condition although it was restrained in un-solidified condition. These results are thought to be caused by inhibition of carbonation due to decrease of permeability and hydraulic conductivity. Cumulative emission of heavy metals from bottom ash that tends to solidify increases since high pH value is maintained. But bottom ash subjected to the repeating procedure of wetting and drying becomes not to solidify and leaching of heavy metals from it significantly decreased.

    Japanese, To evaluate the potential of hydrogen sulfide formation of fine residue generated from sorting facility treating mixed construction and demolition waste, it is necessary to elucidate biodegradability of organic matter contained in the residue. In this study, organic matter contained in the residue was fractionated from the viewpoint of physical composition and fiber components. And availability of organic carbon by microorganisms were tested by biological methane formation test. As consequence, organic carbon in the residue was derived from wood(29%) and paper(68%) with regard to physical composition. And also it was derived from lignin (32%) and cellulose (37%). Organic carbon utilized by microorganisms in BMP test was only 1% of TOC in the residue and it corresponded to carbon easily leached out.

    Japanese, 本研究では、臨界点(374℃、22.1MPa)以下の亜臨界水を用い、ホタテ内蔵から液肥を回収することを目的とした。そのため、水熱処理の温度・圧力、滞留時間、固液比などの条件を変化させ、ホタテ内臓中の肥料成分を液中に効果的に抽出しながら、カドミウム等の重金属の溶出を残渣に抑える最適条件を調べた。その結果、肥料成分が最も多く液中に抽出され、阻害成分の抽出が抑えられる亜臨界水熱条件として200℃(圧力1.35MPa)、滞留時間20分、固液比=10が求められた。この条件で得られた液体生成物の組成を市販の液肥成分と肥料取締法に定められている重金属の最大含有許容量に比較した結果、窒素とカリウムの肥料成分濃度は、市販の液肥と同程度あるいはそれ以上含まれており、阻害成分であるカドミウム、クロム、鉛、ニッケルなど重金属においては含有許容最大量を大きく下回ることから、液肥として品質と安全性が確認できた。

    Japanese, Research society, Elements in waste that are disposed of are eventually transferred to either of three destinations : into the atmosphere by landfill gas, into the surface water by leachate, or into a solid waste body within a landfill. Past studies indicate that the ratio of elements that remain in a landfill is rather high even twenty years after disposal. And they also found that these elements diminish from the landfill very slowly even when several centuries are taken into consideration. This implies that many elements remain even after intense reaction phases cease and emission drops to a level where no treatment is required. It must be important to guarantee that these residual elements never cause a negative impact, over long-range period of time. Most of the numerical models for simulating substance behavior in landfills have, up to now, mainly dealt with the degradation process and generation of landfill gas. For long-term prediction, especially with regard to hazardous elements, the model which can deal with the formation of the high molecular organic compounds such as humic substances needs to be developed.

    English, Scientific journal, The final disposal ratio of mixed construction and demolition waste (MCDW) remains high in Japan, while progress has been made in the recycling of other construction and demolition waste. Sorting facilities are expected to play an important role in better management of MCDW. In this study, the feasibility of sorting facilities for the separation of material and of pretreatment for fmal disposal was investigated by conducting a batch experiment at a real operational facility. The material flow of each output fraction was determined based on the mass distribution and on analysis of the ignition loss and metal content. The separation of organic matter and ferrous metal achieved by the sorting process was excellent; almost 70% was separated out for recycling and did not go for disposal. Although the distribution ratios of heavy metals, such as Pb and Zn, sent to landfill were still high, their content little changed from the condition of the original mixed waste. The process of sorting MCDW achieved reduction of mass for disposal, reduction of the organic load directed to the landfill, and the diversion of iron from MCDW to recycling.

    Japanese, Scientific journal, Leakage of leachate through landfill bottom liner and overflow of leachate from waste storage dam were modeled under various options for design, construction and maintenance. The model includes lateral flow on an intermediate cover, a bypass flow through vertical pipes (ex. gas venting pipes), and leachate accumulation in a landfill caused by clogging of leachate collection pipes and inadequate capacity of leachate storage pond. By using this model, the amounts of leakage through three types of bottom liners were calculated and compared. Moreover, the mounts of leakage and overflow were calculated under various options for design, construction, maintenance and waste characteristics. The calculation results showed that the hydraulic conductivity of sand drainage layer, the number of geomembrane sheet defects, the diameter of a sheet defect and the hydraulic conductivity of clay used in the single composite liner incresed leakage rate severely. This shows that for the reduction of leakage rate through the bottom liner, the selection of material for sand drainage layer, quality assurance of sheet, technical skill of operators and the installation of clay liner are very important. In addition, the calculation results showed that the functional failure of gas collection pipe could cause overflow of leachate from waste storage dam, particularly when the soil with low permeability was used as the cover material.

    Japanese, Scientific journal, Drainage of leachate is important in order to prevent leachate storage, which causes leakage risk, and to avoid the circumstance of the landfill bottom turning to the anaerobic condition. However, care must be needed when designing and constructing drainage system at landfill, because drainage material inevitably contacts biologically and chemically active leachate, which triggers clogging of drainage material. Especially in Japan, recent leachate contains salts at relatively high concentration. Such leachate quality accelerates formation of calcium carbonate. In this study, the influence of clogging on the transmissivity of geosynthetics drainage material was investigated by conducting various flow experiments. As consequences, the following results were obtained:(1) All geosynthetic material tested in this study indicated high trapping efficiency of suspended solid. And it resulted in decrease of hydraulic conductivity of them.(2) Raw leachate causes the decrease of hydraulic conductivity more severely than the physical clogging effect. And degree of the transmissivity loss was much when leachate of high pH or leachate from incineration ash was used.(3) Results of numerical simulation showed that some geosynthetic materials lose transmissivity completely within a year if it was adopted for leachate drainage system.

    Japanese, Scientific journal, Experiments had been conducted for investigating an applicability of capillary barrier as a leachate drainage system installing at bottom of landfill. Various characteristics, which include type of material, gradient, rainfall intensity, downdip structure, and length of slope, were changed in the experiments and their influences on drainage efficiency were evaluated. As a result, following consequences were obtained. Using high gradient, low rainfall intensity, uniform sand, dragging down upper layer at downdip, and short slope length increases the drainage capacity of capillary barrier. The drainage efficiency depends upon total quantity of water, which multiplied rainfall intensity by slope length. Therefore intensity of leachate reaching at the bottom of landfill should be restrained in practical use.

    Japanese, Scientific journal, Experimental results presented in previous report was almost reproduced by numerical model, which is employing film flow expression for water movement in gravel layer. The result of real scale numerical experiments carried out by the model showed leachate can be drained completely by capillary barrier if the intensity of leachate reached at the bottom of landfill was below 0.4mm/h. Several effective parameters were altered for examining the drainage capacity. As results, 1) the effectiveness of downdip structure dragging down upper layer can not improve after it exceeds certain depth. 2) more uniform sand can increase drainage capacity. 3) barrier can drain leachate completely as far as infiltrated water is small enough against the amount of water which can decrease potential of upper layer to boundary potential.

  • In situ intake rate measurement for determining hydraulic conductivity of solid waste layers

    Japanese, Scientific journal, To determine hydraulic property of solid waste materials, in situ intake rate measurements were conducted at surface of landfill. As object layers, incineration residue layers, refuse Layers, and incombustible waste layers were selected to measure. Intake rate of incineration residue decrease suddenly after infiltration started, and then rapidly reach to constant rate, so called final intake rate, within 300 to 500 sec. Refuse layer also indicates similar intake rate transition. To confirm the relationship between final intake rate and saturated hydraulic conductivity, constant head hydraulic conductivity test was carried out for the same samples brought back to laboratory in undisturbed condition. Since good agreements are identified between them, hydraulic conductivity was estimated from the rate. Determined hydraulic conductivity is 10-4 to 10-1cmis for incineration residue layer, 10-2cm/s for refuse layer, and 100cm/s for incombustible waste layer. For trying to investigate the influence of matric suction to the rate curve, unsaturated water movement was simulated based on Green and Ampt theory. In respect with the curve obtained from incineration residue layer, water movement may be dominated by not suction but gravity, due to the analyses which exhibit calculated curve agree well when less suction was assumed.

    2010 - 2010, Inoue (2005) reported that H2S generation in landfills significantly increases by disposal of waste gypsum board because it contains sulfate and organic matter Shredded residue generated from sorting facility of mixed construction and demolition (C&D) waste is also suspected of the source of sulfate and organic matter so that it became difficult to dispose of It into non controlled landfill However H2S generation was hardly identified in Inoue's study Then, it is deemed that potential of H2S generation from the residue must be evaluated from the viewpoint of releasing sulfate and organic matter Several fertilizers and soil conditioners contain both sulfate and organic matter Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the leaching behavior of materials containing both sulfate and organic matter and to compare it against the residue s For this eleven samples including C&D waste residue fertilizers and soil conditioners will be used in a serial batch test, to evaluate its long-term leaching behavior For the obtained leachate, sulfate ton, TOC, VFA (acetic, lactic and propionic acid) and glucose were measured in order to determine how they are different among the samples

    A separating quantification method for Cs and Sr simultaneous penetration of 10 μM in mortar based on the autoradiograph using imaging plate (IP) for radioisotopes (RI) has been developed. The separation was realized by using the energy difference between the beta-rays of Cs-137 and Sr-90. From the difference of the degree of attenuation when the samples were exposed under the shielded condition by aluminum plate of 0.1 mm were applied. For quantification, cement pastes containing RI whose concentration is known were fabricated separately as standards and those are exposed on IP simultaneously with mortar samples for evaluation and the signals from samples and standards were compared.

  • Evaluation of Integrated waste management system based on MBT concept for municipal solid waste

    MBT is a combination of mechanical, biological, and thermal process as an integrated system. Two MBT systems were studied: combined system of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) and incineration, and Biodrying MBT which is followed by mechanical separation to recover solid fuel. Field study was conducted in real-scale facility, where solid waste and output material were sampled, and material balance and energy balance were clarified. Lab-experiment of biodrying was also carried out to construct moisture removal model. By taking two other system, incineration and RDF production system, four systems were evaluated in terms of energy recovery and CO2 emission. By using data obtained in our study and from literature review, material flow were drawn, and energy balance was estimated. Finally, sensitivity analysis of main parameters was carried out to find factors which should be improved for higher energy recovery rate.

    The main finding of this study is the air pathway in landfill and its mechanism. By use of gas tracer test in full size landfill, air is induced from leachate collection pipe, and it moves through solid waste layer, then discharged to passive gas vent. This mechanism was well matched with natural ventilation model. Because temperature and gas velocity can be index to know the magnitude of aeration around gas vent, extensive survey was conducted to know the degree of aeration in municipal and industrial solid waste landfill. Since gas flow was detected in a landfill in which leachate is accumulated at the bottom, gas vent is primarily important to provide exit and air can be induced from peripheral gas vents instead of leachate collection pipe.

  • Identification of chemical form of cesium contained in incineration bottom ash and evaluation of its long term stability.

    In this study, why cesium (Cs) contained in incineration bottom ash is hardly soluble, was investigated by focusing on its chemical form. By combusting simulated waste with stable Cs, artificially created bottom ash in which Cs content became high was created. From the observation by scanning electron microscope and polarization microscope, it was found that Cs accumulates at peripheral area of specific mineral. In its location, glassy amorphous phase formed and Cs is captured in it physically. The mineral is comprised of aluminum, silicon, and oxygen, mainly. To investigate the origin of the mineral, several inorganic and organic material was combusted with stable Cs and its ash was analyzed by the same method. However, the similar mineral was not identified. Clay mineral was too small when comparing to the mineral, which capture Cs in high concentration and was identified in artificially created ash.

  • Evaluation of risk on hydrogen sulfide formation from recycled material and fine residue containing gypsum

    Possibility of hydrogen sulfide formation was investigated for construction and demolition waste sorting residue, fertilizer, soil conditioner, and recycled material containing sulfate or gypsum, assuming that they are utilized in ordinary environment. Long-term leaching behavior of sulfate from residue was almost the same with other materials. Though leached amount of organic carbon from residue was higher than from others, it was only 1% of its original content. Occurrence of sulfate reduction in residue was prevented by maintaining high pH.

    Understanding the conditions inside the landfills is critically important in terms of the estimation of long-term aftercare period. Carbon balance, and gas and water movement in landfill was estimated in this study. The most notable finding, the fact that passive gas vents can help to aerate landfilled waste as well as collect and release LFG, will help developing new design concept of landfill in the future.

  • Upgrading numerical model for expressing long-term behavior of wastein landfill

    廃棄物埋立地での物質挙動を表現する数値計算モデルに有害化学物質の挙動を組み込むために, 有機物分解に伴って生成する腐植物質の挙動を実験的に追跡した. 易分解性物では分解初期に腐植物質の僅かな生成が確認されたものの, 継続的な腐植の生成は認められなかった. また白色腐朽菌による木質分解においてはリグニン減少は起こったものの腐植の生成を確認するには至らなかった. 埋立物中のPAH含有量を実測し, 長期動態モデルに組み込んだ結果, 分配係数の大きな物質は固相に長期残存することが明らかになった.

    In this study, sixteen kinds of char obtained from various sources including industrial waste were used for experiments. In order to use char as fuel, chlorine level should be reduced to avoid corrosion. Chlorine in char derived from MSW was characterized in terms of solubility. CO2 bubbling could reduce chorine to acceptable level for cement kiln use. Pulverization was proven to be ineffective in the dissolution of non water-soluble chlorine.Ash content is another fraction which should be lowered for fuel use of char.     過去2年間で,実際の施設から採取した溶融飛灰中の金属濃縮法,飛灰中のPb,Znの形態分析法,溶融飛灰の金属含有量を向上させるための溶融条件の最適化に関して検討を行ってきた.本年度は,飛灰が捕集される部分に関して,高温集塵を採用して2段捕集とすることで,重金属が濃縮した飛灰と塩類を主体とした不溶化前処理不要な飛灰とに分離することを検討した.実験は,電気管状炉を用いて,飛灰を模擬した純物質からなる試料を揮発させ,その後段の500〜800℃に高温捕集部を,100℃の地点に低温捕集部を設けて飛灰の捕集を行った.まず1段捕集と2段捕集とでの捕集飛灰の品位を比較した結果,2段捕集とすることで,高温側に塩類が,低温側に重金属類が分配されることを確認した.次に高温捕集部の温度を変化させ,最も分離効率の高い設定温度域を検討した結果,高温捕集部を700℃〜800℃とすることで,Pbは90%以上が低温部で捕集され,高温部で僅かに捕集されたPbは,難水溶性であることを確認した.この結果は,低温部捕集灰は山本還元に,高温捕集灰は不溶化前処理を必要とせずに,埋立処分が可能であることを暗示するものである.次に,より多様な金属元素に対しても分離捕集の効果を検証するために,元素の揮発挙動に影響を与えるガス雰囲気,投入試料の元素組成(C,S,C1含有量)を変化させた実験を実施した.還元雰囲気とすることで,亜鉛,...

  • 廃棄物の資源化適正処分プロセスの解析・定式化によるリサイクルシステム工学の展開

    循環型社会を目指してさまざまな取り組みがなされているが、リサイクルの促進が大量消費・廃棄を大量リサイクルに変えるだけではないかとの懸念がある。廃棄物処理・資源化は製品ライフサイクルの最終段階であり、循環型社会の本来の目的である(1)環境負荷の低減、(2)天然資源の削減を、(3)適正なコストで実行できるシステムでなければならない。また部分的な適正化ではなく、(4)廃棄物の発生から資源化・処分に至るまでを安定的に運用できなければならない。本研究はこのような要求にこたえる「リサイクルシステム工学」のために実施した。廃棄物処理・資源化システムは、多様な廃棄物の発生、その分別、ごみ種ごとの処理選択肢の多さのため、非常に複雑である。本研究では、発生から最終処分までの各処理プロセスをモデル化し、(1)物質収支を定量的に記述し、(2)エネルギー収支、(3)電力、燃料等の用役投入、(4)コスト評価、(5)二酸化炭素排出量推定を行うプログラムを作成した。本プログラムは、分別方法、収集方法、分別されたごみの処理方法を任意に選択できるもので、さまざまな処理シナリオを環境影響、コストの点から評価できるものである。このプログラムを用い、資源化処理、堆肥化処理、メタン発酵、RDF製造、破砕選別処理、焼却、ガス化溶融、埋立、収集輸送の詳細な検討を行った。さらに、さまざまな処理シナリオを想定し、循環型社会にふ...

  • 浸出水の高塩類化が最終処分場排水システムに与える影響

    昨年度の研究の結果,ジオシンセティック排水材に浸出水を長期間通水していると,間隙が閉塞し,通水能が低下していく事を確認した.本年度は,昨年度の研究を継統し,浸出水中のスケール生成ポテンシャルが排水材の通水能に与える影響について検討した.排水材の物理的目詰まり以外の主要な閉塞要因は,CaCO_3沈殿が排水材繊維に付着堆積することと考えられたが,このCaCO_3沈殿の生成式は,(Ca^<2+>+2OH^-)+(2H^++CO_3^<2->)→CaCO_3+2H_2Oで表され,この式が平衡状態になるときのpH(飽和pH[pHS])は,pHs=pCa^<2+>+pAlK+(pK_2'-pK_s')で表される.そこで,実験には浸出水のLIの異なる5種類の試料水(A, B, C, D, E)を作成して通水実験を行い,浸出水の水質による通水能の低下について検討した.試料水は毎週作成し,水質の分析を平行して行った.試料水のLIの経日変化は,(A)埋立地浸出水原水および(B)高Ca浸出水はおよそ2で推移し,常にCaCO_3沈殿の生成域にあった.(C)高pH浸出水および(D)焼却灰浸出水も常に正の値を示しCaCO_3沈殿の生成域にあったが,(C)がおよそ4で推移したのに対し,(D)は6週目までは2〜5の範囲で変動し,7週目以降は6以上と更に大きい値を示した.一方,(E)低pH浸出水は1〜5週目で...

  • 効率的集排水を目的とした廃棄物処分場底部構造の開発

    廃棄物処分場からの浸出水漏洩は処分場の底部に浸出水が貯留し正の水圧が付加されることに起因する。本研究ではこの水分貯留を抑制するためにキャピラリーバリアを用いた排水構造を底部に設け,水分を迅速に排除する機構を開発した。上部層試料,下部層試料に種々の材料の組み合わせを採用し,数段階の勾配,降水量で小規模実験(幅60cm,奥行き15cm,高さ55cm),及び大規模実験(幅350cm,奥行き20cm,高さ95cm)を行い,排水効率とそれを左右する影響因子について検討した結果,バリアの効率には上部から供給される水量が最も大きな影響を与えることが明らかとなった。バリアが効率的に機能し,100%の水分を鉛直方向へ通過させることなく側方へ排除できる限界の水量は概ね100cm^3/h/cmであった。これは,例えば,距離20m程度の実規模を想定した場合,約0.5mm/h程度の水量に相当する。従って,処分場底部に到達する水量を,覆土による排除,廃棄物層内における水量変動のピークカットによって0.5m/h程度にまで低減させることができたならば,処分場底部においては,浸出水が遮水シートに到達することはなくなり,漏洩リスクは低減するものと考えられる。本研究では,さらに,バリアの排水機能を向上させるために二層境界部にジオテキスタイルを敷設した条件,及び下部引き込み深さを変化させた条件についても検討を行い,...

  • 焼却灰飛散による最終処分場周辺の重金属分布に関する研究

    焼却灰中の微細な粒子は乾燥することによって大気中に舞い上がり、風などで輸送されて周辺環境へ飛散することが懸念される。本研究では実際に最終処分場の周辺土壌をサンプリングし、その金属含有量を調査した。周辺土壌を採取するために選定した処分場はA(焼却灰主体埋立地、即日覆土等はなされず、長期間露天投棄)、B(不燃ごみ主体埋立地、焼却灰割合13%、サンドイッチ方式埋立、即日覆土はあるものの覆土に焼却灰が混合されている)の2処分場である。両処分場ともに平地に造成されており、直接風の影響を受けるような立地条件にある。A処分場については93年に南東側で調査が行われているので、本研究では北西側にサンプリングフィールドをとった。B処分場ではAブロックの西側に調査地点を決め、試料を採取した。試料採取地点はA処分場で70地点、B処分場で54地点である。採取した試料は炉乾燥し、2mmふるい通過分について四分法によって代表試料を得た。それを塩酸抽出法によって金属を抽出した後、原子吸光法によって分析した。なお、各代表試料について3回の分析を行っている。定量した元素は、Ca,Zn,Cu.Na,K,Fe,Mn,Mgである。焼却灰中には一般の土壌と比較してCa,Zn,Cu,Naが2桁から3桁多く含まれている。一方Fe,Mg,Mn等は土壌と比較して含有量差はほとんどない。そのことを基に土壌の金属濃度分析結果を検討...

  • 廃棄物充填層における2次元不飽和水分移動及び溶質輸送に関する研究

    幅32cm、奥行き6cm、高さ85cmの直方体で、下部を7つのコンパートメントに分割したカラムを試作し、その中に、任意の高さに焼却灰を充填した。そして、その上部中央へ線上の降水を行い、下端の各流出口からの流出水量を時間経過と共に測定した。供給した水分は、焼却灰層内を鉛直下方に移動しながら横方向へも拡散しつつ浸透し、最終的に下端より流出して、2次元的な流出分布を形成する。このようにして、焼却灰層に於ける2次元の不飽和水分移動実験を実現した。実験は、充填層厚さ、降水量、充填密度等を様々に変化させて、同様の測定を繰り返した。そして、得られたこの2次元流出分布に対し、土壌の不飽和浸透理論の適用性の検討を試みた。まず、水分特性曲線、飽和透水係数を実測し、Van Genuchtenの方法で不飽和透水係数を推定した。そして、2次元に拡張したRichardsの不飽和浸透式をコンパートメントモデルを用いて解くことで、理論上の2次元流出分布を得た。その結果と実験値を比較すると、対照実験として用いた砂の場合は、比較的良好な一致を見たが、焼却灰の場合、全く一致しなかった。焼却灰の場合、計算値は実験値に対し、横方向拡散がほとんど進行せず、また、定常に至るまでの時間が10倍以上も長くなった。このような焼却灰層の場合に理論値が実験値と一致しなくなった理由として考えられたのが、不飽和透水係数の極端な小ささで...
