    Seismic isolation is widely used in several countries, and the number of seismically isolated buildings has increased rapidly in recent decades. Seismic isolation extends the natural period of a building to decrease the absolute acceleration and seismic force. As there is a trade-off between the absolute acceleration and displacement, a soft layer results in a large displacement for a large seismic wave, but the hard one causes the large absolute acceleration even for a small seismic wave. The restoring force of a Duffing spring is given by the third and first orders of the displacement. This spring has been applied to protect a building from large earthquake waves. However, the influence of the coefficient of the Duffing spring that determines the dynamic characteristics of the system has not been clarified. Thus, a used Duffing spring may not be appropriate for seismic resistance. Moreover, most studies are based on analytical methods, and the advantages of the Duffing isolation have not been verified in an actual system. To address these problems, this paper reveals the influence of the coefficient of the Duffing spring on structural responses to seismic waves. Moreover, this paper devised a way to implement a Duffing spring for seismic isolation and carried out experiments to verify the validity in actual systems. The experimental results presented that the Duffing spring was effective in protecting a building in actual systems.

    The main hall of Ohtaniha Hakodatuin, which was completed in 1915, is the oldest temple architecture using reinforced concrete structure in Japan. The temple has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2007. In this paper, structural characteristics of the temple based on previous studies were described. Furthermore, evaluation of vibration behavior of the temple by micro-tremor observation and eigenvalue analysis using numerical 3-D frame models were presented. From the results, natural frequencies of the analytical model with decreased concrete Young's modulus considering aging and construction situation showed a good agreement with the micro-tremor observation results.

    This paper presents a mechanical model for predicting the behavior of elastomeric seismic isolation bearings subject to combined end rotations and shear deformation. The mechanical model consists of a series of axial springs at the top, mid-height and bottom of the bearing to vertically reproduce asymmetric bending moment distribution in the bearings. The model can take into account end rotations of the bearing, and the overall rotational stiffness includes the effect of the variation of vertical load on the bearing and the imposed shear deformation. Static bending tests under various combinations of vertical load and shear deformation were performed to identify the mechanical characteristics of bearings. The test results indicate that bearing rotational stiffness increases with increasing vertical load but decreases with increasing shear deformation. Simulation analyses were conducted to validate the new mechanical model. The results of analyses using the new model show very good agreement with experimental observations. A series of seismic response analyses were performed to demonstrate the dynamic behavior of top-of-column isolated structures, a configuration where the end rotations of isolation bearings are typically expected to be larger. The results suggest that the end rotations of elastomeric bearings used in practical top-of-column isolated structures do not reduce the stability limit of isolation system.     A mechanical model for predicting the triaxial behavior of high-damping rubber bearings under bidirectional horizontal deformations and axial load is presented in this paper. This new model is developed by combining two existing models, both of which have been previously proposed by the authors. Tests of isolation bearings under bidirectional horizontal loading with different axial load levels were conducted. The experimental formulae for the bidirectional hysteresis model in the mechanical model were identified from the test results. The proposed model is shown to be capable of expressing the influence of the bidirectional deformations and axial load on the hysteresis loops.

    A series of bidirectional loading tests were conducted on a high friction type sliding rubber bearing. Tests were conducted under horizontal bidirectional loading and constant or fluctuant vertical loading. Regardless of the vertical loading methods, the maximum shear strain under bidirectional loadings increased approximately 40% - 50% compared to nominal shear strain. Reflecting mechanical characteristics of the bearing, the analytical model of elastic sliding bearings was proposed. This model accurately represented force-displacement relationships under horizontal bidirectional loading and constant or fluctuant vertical loading.

    This paper focuses on the horizontal bidirectional mechanical properties of low-modulus G0.35 type high-damping rubber bearings. Tests of reduced-scale bearings were conducted to identify the mechanical properties of the bearings. The influence of bidirectional loading was strongly apparent in the measured hysteresis properties. A refinement to an existing analytical model was provided to predict the mechanical behavior of a wide variety of high-damping rubber bearings. Additional shear strain due to twist deformation was included to evaluate shear stress components in the bearing. Seismic response analyses were performed to evaluate the dynamic behavior of an isolated building under bidirectional earthquake excitations.

    Ultimate behavior of Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) and Natural Rubber Bearing (RB) was investigated by bi-directional loading tests. LRB specimens provided by 7 types small models, which have square and circular shape, varied lead plug diameters, lead plug disposition and rubber layers. RB specimen was provided by square shape without lead plug. In this study it was cleared that brake-shear-strain was not influenced by the cross-section shape, lead plug diameters, and lead plug dispositions. Moreover LRB wasn't spoiled for brake-shear-strain under the bi-directional loading. It was also found that the brake-shear-strain of LRB was the same as that of RB.

    Reduction of the horizontal deformation capacity of elastomeric isolation bearings under bi-directional loading has been one of the major concerns since that such a phenomenon was observed for high-damping rubber bearings. Using a newly constructed loading machine, a series of tests of lead rubber bearings (LRBs) were conducted to investigate their detailed mechanical characteristics under horizontal bi-directional deformation in the paper. The influences of the configurations, such as shape of cross section, diameter of a lead plug and aspect ratio, on the bi-directional behavior were carefully examined. Simulation analyses were also conducted to predict the bi-directional behavior of LRBs.

    A new hysteresis model for high-damping rubber bearings is proposed, which has been developed based on an elasto-plastic, integraltype deformation history constitutive law. One of the characteristics of the proposed model is the applicability of the same material parameters as the proposed model to finite element method analyses. Firstly, we derive the horizontal biaxial hysteresis model from the elasto-plastic constitutive law. Next, we compare the results of numerical analyses using the proposed hysteresis model with experimental results for tests of high-damping rubber bearings subjected to horizontal biaxial loading, and verify the validity of the proposed model. Lastly, we perform finite element method analyses and numerical analyses using a multi-shear springs model, and the results from each of these cases are compared with results given by the proposed model.

    The paper describes an analytical method for predicting the behavior of high-damping rubber isolation bearings under large shear deformations and severe axial loads. Dynamic loading tests are performed to investigate the effect of aspect ratio and axial load on bearing behavior. The test results show that the behavior of low shape factor bearing is strongly influenced by axial load, especially for large shear deformation. New hysteresis models for shear and axial components are developed from the test results. The influence of aspect ratio and axial load on bearing behavior is also represented by the developed analytical method.

    This paper presents a new analytical model for predicting the behavior of elastomeric seismic isolation bearings subject to combined eccentric bending moments and shear deformation. The mechanical model consists of a series of axial springs at the top, mid-height and bottom of the isolator. The model can account for end rotations of the isolator, and the overall isolator rotational stiffness can include the influence of the variation of vertical load on the isolator and the imposed shear deformation. To identify the mechanical characteristics of isolators, static bending tests under various combinations of vertical load and shear deformation were performed. The results of analyses using the new model show very good agreement with experimental observations.

    本研究は、地震防災の有効な手段である免震構造を社会に広く普及させるべく、新たな免震構造の提案を目的とする。海溝型巨大地震による長周期地震動および内陸直下型地震による大振幅パルス性地震動という多様な地震動に対して所要の性能を確実に発揮できる免震構造の実現を目指して、具体的には長周期地震動による大変形・多数回繰り返し変形にも免震性能を維持できる高耐久型免震構造と、大振幅地震動でも限界変形を超えずに加速度低減効果を発揮できる変位抑制型免震構造の2つの高機能免震構造の開発を行った。本研究で提案した高機能免震構造は、今後の地震防災対策の一翼を担う次世代型免震構造となることが期待される。

    本研究では、免震すべり支承の面圧・速度・温度に対する依存性を同時に考慮可能な数値解析モデルを構築した。計算モデルの構築にあたり、既往の熱・力学連成解析モデルから力学モデルと熱伝導解析モデルをそれぞれ分離し、任意の組み合わせに対して動作可能となるよう整備した。 数値計算モデルの適用例として、異なるすべり材配置を持つ装置に対する熱・力学連成挙動解析を行った。シミュレーション解析により、すべり材の配置が装置温度上昇に与える影響を把握した。

    本研究では、複合応力下における免震積層ゴムの力学挙動解析法を開発した。これは、免震建物の水平二方向応答特性や大変形時の軸力変動によって生じる免震積層ゴムの座屈特性の変化などを精緻に再現することで、多方向から地震入力を受ける免震建物の応答特性をより正確に把握しようとするものである。本年度は、主として下記の3点について取り組んだ。 1 免震装置のモデル化 鉛プラグ入り積層ゴムについて、丸型ゴムを対象とした定式化を用いて、高軸力が作用した際の大変形時座屈特性を良好に表現する力学モデルを作成した。また、定式化において適用可能な近似式を示した。弾性滑り支承について、軸力と水平二方向復元力の連成効果に面圧依存性を取り入れた力学モデルを作成した。高減衰積層ゴムについて、水平二方向加力時に生じるねじれ変形の影響を考慮した力学モデルを作成した。これらを用いて、静的加力実験のシミュレーション解析や地震応答解析を行った。 2 免震建物の地震応答解析 免震建物の数値計算モデルを作成して地震応答解析を行い、建物のロッキング挙動が生じた場合や免震層の構造パラメータが変動した場合の応答値の変動について検証した。積層ゴムを用いた免震建物では、ロッキング挙動下での地震応答において、過度の座屈現象の進展が回避されるという応答特性を持つことを示した。また、免震部材の不確定パラメータを考慮したうえで、免震建物のロバスト安定性を数値的に判断する手法を提案した。 3 計算プログラムのオープンソース化 免震積層ゴムの復元力モデルおよび力学モデルを、オープンソース形式で構造解析プログラムの開発を行っているOpen Sees (Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation)に提供した。計算プログラムはウェブ上で公開されており、誰でもダウンロードして使用することが可能である。
