    Aim
    To investigate the ultrastructure of the mineralised tissue after direct pulp capping (DPC) treatment using focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy (FIB‐SEM) and stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy.


    Methodology
    Eighteen male Wistar rats (36 maxillary first molars) were used in this study. Nine rats (18 M) were allocated for histological evaluation and immunofluorescence imaging (STED), six rats (12 M) for FIB‐SEM observation, and three rats (6 M) served as untreated controls; control molars were used for both immunofluorescence imaging and FIB‐SEM. For experimental allocation, two molars from each rat were randomly assigned to one of three groups: NEX MTA (NMTA), Dycal, or no‐capping material (NC). After 4 weeks, teeth were collected for histological analysis, FIB‐SEM observation and immunofluorescence imaging. Tubulin‐b3 and nestin expression were examined by immunofluorescence staining and imaged with STED microscopy. The Kruskal–Wallis test followed by Dunn's multiple comparisons test and one‐way ANOVA followed by Tukey's multiple comparisons test were performed to assess significant differences.


    Results

    All experimental groups exhibited complete mineralised tissue formation near the exposure site. The NMTA group showed a significantly more regular odontoblastic layer than the Dycal and NC groups (
    p
     < 0.05). FIB‐SEM demonstrated that NMTA induced a well‐organised and continuous tubular structure, whereas Dycal and NC produced irregular, discontinuous, and poorly organised mineralised barriers. STED imaging of the NMTA group revealed strong and organised co‐localization of tubulin‐β3 and nestin resembling primary dentine, whereas the Dycal and NC groups showed weak, disorganised, or absent signals and lacked co‐localised processes.



    Conclusions
    NMTA showed superior performance compared with Dycal, consistently promoting well‐organised dentine bridge formation, a continuous odontoblastic layer, and coordinated neural marker‐positive processes. This indicates that NMTA more effectively supports structural formation of the pulp‐dentine complex after DPC.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), OBJECTIVES: The objective of this narrative review was to analyze the evolution of the calcium silicate-based cement (CSC) products since 1993 and classify them to better understand their appropriate use in clinical practice and foster innovation in dental material development. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A narrative review of the relevant literature was conducted, collecting findings from computerized databases (PubMed, Science Direct, SCOPUS, and Web of Science) to provide historical background, classification, and modifications of CSCs published between 1993 and 2024. RESULTS: We classified CSCs into six distinct generations based on previous literature. This classification revealed that the improvement in CSC's drawbacks, especially in physio-chemical properties, have led to the development of novel CSCs products. It also exhibited little to no variation in the bioactivity of CSCs across different generations and raised concerns regarding the biocompatibility of resin-modified CSC. CONCLUSIONS: No CSC has yet emerged as a potential gold-standard material for endodontic treatments. Therefore, clinical applications tailored to the characteristics of each generation of CSCs are essential. Future advancements are anticipated to enable CSCs to induce the regeneration of tissues such as dentin, cementum, periodontal ligament, and dental pulp by incorporating regulatory signals. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: This comprehensive classification system would assist clinicians in choosing the appropriate CSCs for various clinical situations by considering critical factors. This systematic approach enables clinicians to rely on evidence-based material selection rather than marketing claims. Furthermore, the insights into their evolution, classification, and clinical applications would fill a knowledge gap for clinicians and researchers.
  • Visibility of Recurrent Caries Through Universal Shade Resin Composite Restorations.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), This in vitro study aimed to investigate whether color differences in the stained cavity floor simulating recurrent caries can be detected using various restored resin composites. Artificial teeth were made with conventional resin composite (Estellite Sigma Quick A3; ET), and class V cavities were prepared. To simulate the color of caries, a dot was marked in the center of the cavity floor using four different magic pens. The cavities were filled with ET and two universal shade resin composites (UC, Omnichroma; OMI, Essentia Universal; ESS). For photographic analysis, a standard correction color chart was used. The color difference (ΔE00) between (i) the lab value at the center of the cavity and (ii) the average lab value at 1 mm mesial and distal to the center of the cavity was calculated. The data were statistically746o-way ANOVA (p < 0.05). For visual analysis, 25 dentists were asked to complete a questionnaire to determine whether the color differences were noticeable. In the photographic analysis, UC showed larger ΔE00 values than ET in all colors. Visual analysis revealed higher detection rates for UC than ET. Universal shade resin composite tends to reflect the color of the cavity more effectively than conventional resin composite.
  • Evaluation of caries risk assessment practices among dental practitioners in Guangzhou, China: a cross-sectional study.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), INTRODUCTION: This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate dental practitioners' knowledge and practices regarding Caries risk assessment (CRA) in routine clinical practice in Guangzhou, China. METHODS: An online questionnaire was disseminated to dental practitioners to gather socio-demographic information, factors associated with CRA, the implementation of preventive treatment, and the level of awareness regarding personalized preventive treatment in relation to CRA. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Chi-square tests, ANOVA, MANCOVA, linear regression, and scatter plots. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Out of the 695 dental practitioners who were contacted, 206 dentists participated in the online survey. However, out of the total number of dentists, 198 were successfully recruited, while the remaining 8 dentists had incomplete data in their questionnaires. 92.4% of dentists provided in-office fluoride treatments, and 73.2% held a strong belief in the correlation between current oral hygiene and tooth cavities. 23.7% of dentists evaluated caries risk on an individual basis, and a significant 41.9% never utilized a particular type of CRA. 53.5% of dentists recommended non-prescription fluoride rinses, whereas 51% advocated prescription fluoride treatments. Significant statistical relationships were found between the use of in-office fluoride and the effectiveness of restorative treatment (P < 0.05). Additionally, a significant association was discovered between the use of a specific form for CRA and the kind of dental school (P < 0.05). The study suggests that a significant number of dental practitioners in Guangzhou, China, do not utilize dedicated assessment forms for CRA in their routine professional activities. These findings highlight the im-portance of encouraging dentists to utilize CRA systems to effectively identify patients who are at risk of acquiring dental caries.
  • Biological evaluation of novel phosphorylated pullulan‐based calcium hydroxide formulations as direct pulp capping materials: An in vivo study on a rat model

    Aim

    Calcium hydroxide (CH) has been considered as a direct pulp capping materials (DPC) for the last decades despite having some limitations. Phosphorylate pullulan (PPL) incorporated with CH (CHPPL) is a novel biomaterial that was introduced as a promising DPC material. Thus, the aim of the study was to evaluate the inflammatory response and mineralized tissue formation (MTF) ability of PPL‐based CH formulations on rat molars after DPC.

    Methodology

    This study consisted of six groups: CH with 1% PPL (CHPPL‐1); 3% PPL (CHPPL‐3); 5% PPL (CHPPL‐5); Dycal and NEX MTA Cement (N‐MTA) as the positive control, and no capping materials (NC). One hundred twenty maxillary first molar cavities were prepared on Wistar rats. After capping, all the cavities were restored with 4‐META/MMA‐TBB resin and pulpal responses were evaluated at days 1, 7, and 28. Kruskal–Wallis followed by Mann–Whitney U‐test was performed with a significance level of 0.05. Immunohistochemical expression of IL‐6, Nestin, and DMP‐1 was observed.

    Results

    At day 1, CHPPL‐1, N‐MTA, and Dycal exhibited no to mild inflammation, whilst CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC showed mild to moderate inflammation, and the results were significantly different (p < .05). At day 7, mild to moderate inflammation was observed in CHPPL‐1, N‐MTA, and Dycal, whereas CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC exhibited moderate to severe inflammation. Significant differences were observed between CHPPL‐1 and N‐MTA with NC (p < .05), CHPPL‐1 and CHPPL‐3 with CHPPL‐5 and Dycal (p < .05), and CHPPL‐3 with N‐MTA (p < .05). A thin layer of mineralized tissue formation (MTF) was observed in all groups. At day 28, CHPPL‐1, Dycal, and N‐MTA showed no to mild inflammation, whilst CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC exhibited mild to severe inflammation, and statistically significant difference was detected (p < .05). CHPPL‐1, Dycal, and N‐MTA exhibited continuous MTF, whilst CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC had thicker and interrupted MTF. Significant differences were observed between CHPPL‐1, CHPPL‐3, and N‐MTA with NC group (p < .05). Variable expressions of IL‐6, Nestin, and DMP‐1 indicated differences in the materials' impact on odontoblast‐like cell formation and tissue mineralization.

    Conclusions

    These findings suggest that CHPPL‐1 has the potential to minimize pulpal inflammation and promote MTF and had similar efficacy as MTA cement.

  • Effects of Short-Term Exposure of Chloramine-T Solution on the Characteristics of Light-Cured and Chemical-Cured Adhesives

    研究論文(学術雑誌), This study evaluated the effect of a 0.5% chloramine T solution on a chemical-cured universal adhesive by comparing the light-cured, one-step, self-etch adhesive for the bonding performance, mechanical properties, and resin–dentin interfacial characteristics. Caries-free human molars were randomly assigned into eight groups based on the bonding systems employed (Bond Force II, BF and Bondmer Lightless, BL), the immersion solutions used before bonding (0.5% chloramine T solution and distilled water), and the immersion durations (5 and 60 min). Microtensile bond strength (μTBS), nanoleakage evaluation, and nanoindentation tests were performed, and the surface morphology of the resin–dentin interface was examined using a focus ion beam/scanning ion microscopy system. Immersion in chloramine-T for 5 min significantly decreased the μTBS of Bondmer Lightless (from 22.62 to 12.87 MPa) compared with that in distilled water. Moreover, there was also a decreasing trend after immersing in chloramine-T for 60 min (from 19.11 to 13.93 MPa). Chloramine T was found to have no effect on the hardness, elastic modulus, or morphological characteristics of the ion-beam milled resin–dentin interfacial surfaces in the tested adhesives, suggesting that chloramine T might reduce the bond strength by interfering with the interaction and the sealing between the adhesive resin and dentin in the chemical-cured universal adhesive, albeit without affecting the mechanical properties.
  • Dental Caries Prevention Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice among Patients at a University Hospital in Guangzhou, China.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), Background and Objectives: This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practice (KAP) of patients regarding dental caries prevention in a university hospital in Guangzhou, China. Materials and Methods: A hospital-based KAP survey was conducted in a cross-sectional manner at the First Affiliated Hospital in Guangzhou, China, from 1 September to 30 September 2022. Questionnaires were distributed to eligible patients, resulting in the participation of 251 individuals. The questionnaire consisted of five sections capturing socio-demographic data and exploring participants' knowledge, attitudes, practice, and accurate preventive dental caries knowledge. Descriptive statistics and a generalized linear model with univariate tests were used for analysis. Results: The study results show that the knowledge score 7.97 (±0.91) and attitudes score 7.67 (±0.89) among the participants were good while the practice score was 6.80 (±0.81) moderate. The majority of participants identified tooth infections (81.3%), bacteria (92%), and sugar (89.2%) as the main causes of gum bleeding and tooth decay. Brushing (96%) and fluoride (80.5%) were also recognized as essential for preventing tooth decay. Of oral diseases, 94% were recognized as potentially affecting overall health. The vast majority ranging from 92.8% to 98%, believed that oral health is crucial to overall health and that regular check-ups and proper brushing habits are beneficial. There is a significant association of gender with age (p = 0.018), occupation (p = 0.050), lifestyle habit (p = 0.012), and knowledge score; whole education is significantly associated with practice score (p = 0.050). Conclusions: The majority of patients exhibited accurate knowledge and attitudes with moderate practice towards dental caries prevention, with socio-demographic factors playing a major role. However, effective implementation of dental health education programs across the healthcare system is still required to further enhance outcomes.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) and Knoop hardness number (KHN) of a novel experimental light-cured resin cement (HL). Eighteen flat dentin surfaces of human molars were polished using #600 SiC paper and bonded to CAD/CAM resin blocks with the respective resin cements and composites: HL, Panavia V5 (PV), and Clearfil AP-X (AP). All specimens were stored in distilled water at 37 °C for 24 h and 7 days. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) observations were performed to evaluate filler morphology and to detect the elements. The resin cements had a significant effect on the immediate µTBS (F = 22.59, p < 0.05) and after water storage µTBS (F = 22.83, p < 0.05). Significant differences (p < 0.05) in the KHN between the tested materials were observed, and HL indicated the highest KHN when compared with PV. HL showed a combination of the regular-shaped filler and spherical-shaped filler within the matrix. Silicon was detected in HL from the EDX evaluation. HL exhibited better bonding performance and polymerization, which may have contributed to the improvement of the adhesive strength.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), Teledentistry is an online dental care service that allows patients and dentists to meet in real time, safely, without being at the same location. During the COVID-19 pandemic, real-time videoconferencing has gained popularity in the field of teledentistry, with numerous benefits for both patients and dentists. Online consultations can minimize costs, maximize time, and provide more convenient care options for both patients and dentists. When practicing teledentistry, a dentist must establish a good doctor–patient relationship. Dentists must ensure that the telecommunication solution that they choose meets their clinical requirements and complies with privacy laws. Dentists should provide adequate information to patients about the limitations, advantages, and disadvantages that may occur during online consultation. Dentists must follow guidelines and procedures regarding informed consent, patient details, personal communications, and consultancies’ privacy and confidentiality. The patient should be aware of the limitations of teledentistry, and dentists will provide the best advice possible in the absence of a face-to-face consultation. This article discusses how teledentistry could be an effective tool for dentists and patients.
  • Evaluation of Color and Spectral Behavior of a Novel Flowable Resin Composite after Water Aging: An In Vitro Study.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the color matching, light transmittance, and reflectance characteristics of the novel flowable resin composite OCF-001 (OCF). METHODS: Fifty-four resin composite molds were made with simulated class I cavities of A2, A3, and A4 shades by filling the rubber mold interspace with Estelite Sigma Quick (ESQ), Gracefil Putty (GP) and Filtek Supremme Ultra (FSU). After applying the adhesive, three different flowable resin composites (n = 6), OCF, Gracefil LoFlo (GLF), and Supreme Ultra Flowable (SUF), were used to fill the cavities. A colorimeter was used to measure the color parameters (CIEDE2000). The color measurements were taken immediately and after 28 days. Data were analyzed using the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis (α = 0.05) and Wilcoxon tests. The light transmittance and reflection characteristics were measured with a black background using a spectrophotometer under D65 illumination. RESULTS: The ΔE00, and ΔC of OCF was lower than other tested materials in A2 and A3 shades both immediately and after 28 days. OCF showed the highest transmittance characteristic, and a relatively stable reflectance curve in all the wavelengths. CONCLUSIONS: OCF showed better shade matching with the surrounding shades of A2 and A3, a relative uniform reflectance and higher light transmission properties.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), This study aimed to evaluate the pulpal responses of monkey's pulp after direct pulp capping (DPC) with the novel mineral trioxide aggregate containing phosphorylated pullulan-based material (MTAPPL). Seventy-two teeth were randomly divided into four groups: MTAPPL; Nex-Cem MTA (NX); TheraCal LC (TH); and Dycal (DY). Histopathological changes in the pulps were observed at days 3, 7 and 70. On day 3, mild inflammatory responses were observed in the MTAPPL, no to moderate inflammatory responses in the TH, whereas moderate inflammatory responses in the NX and DY. No mineralized tissue formation (MTF) was observed in all groups. On day 7, no or mild inflammatory responses were observed in all groups. Initial MTF was observed except for DY. No inflammation with complete MTF including presence of odontoblast-like cells was observed in the MTAPPL, NX and TH groups at day 70. These findings indicate that MTAPPL could be an efficient DPC material.
  • Effectiveness of Direct Pulp Capping Bioactive Materials in Dentin Regeneration: A Systematic Review

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), Background: Regenerative endodontics aims to restore normal pulp function in necrotic and infected teeth, restoring protective functions, such as innate pulp immunity, pulp repair through mineralization, and pulp sensibility. The aim of this systematic review was to assess the dentin regeneration efficacy of direct pulp capping (DPC) biomaterials. Methods: The literature published between 2005 and 2021 was searched by using PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Scopus databases. Clinical controlled trials, randomized controlled trials, and animal studies investigating DPC outcomes or comparing different capping materials after pulp exposure were included in this systematic review. Three independent authors performed the searches, and information was extracted by using a structured data format. Results: A total of forty studies (21 from humans and 19 from animals) were included in this systemic review. Histological examinations showed complete/partial/incomplete dentin bridge/reparative dentin formation during the pulp healing process at different follow-up periods, using different capping materials. Conclusions: Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine can induce dentin regeneration when applied over exposed pulp. This systematic review can conclude that MTA and its variants have better efficacy in the DPC procedure for dentin regeneration.
  • Histological evaluation of a novel phosphorylated pullulan‐based pulp capping material: An in vivo study on rat molars

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), AIM: To evaluate the dental pulp response to a novel mineral trioxide aggregate containing phosphorylated pullulan (MTAPPL) in rats after direct pulp capping. METHODS: Ninety-six cavities were prepared in the maxillary first molars of 56 male Wistar rats. The dental pulps were intentionally exposed and randomly divided into four groups according to the application of pulp capping materials: MTAPPL; phosphorylated pullulan (PPL); a conventional MTA (Nex-Cem MTA, NCMTA; positive control); and Super-Bond (SB; negative control). All cavities were restored with SB and observed for pulpal responses at 1-, 3-, 7- and 28-day intervals using a histological scoring system. Statistical analysis was performed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U-test with Bonferroni's correction, and the level of significance was set at 0.05. DMP1 and CD34 antigen were used to evaluate odontoblast differentiation and pulpal vascularization, respectively. RESULTS: On day 1, mild inflammatory cells were present in MTAPPL and NCMTA groups; fewer inflammatory cells were present in the PPL, whereas SB was associated with a mild-to-moderate inflammatory response. A significant difference was observed between PPL and SB (p < .05). No mineralized tissue deposition was observed. On day 3, moderate-to-severe inflammatory cells were present in PPL and SB, whereas MTAPPL and NCMTA had a mild inflammatory response. Initial mineralized tissue deposition was observed in the NCMTA, MTAPPL and SB. A significant difference was observed between MTAPPL and PPL (p < .05). On day 7, a thin layer of mineralized tissue was observed in all tested groups with no or mild inflammatory response. On day 28, no inflammatory response was observed in MTAPPL, whereas NCMTA, PPL and SB had mild inflammatory responses. A significant difference was observed between MTAPPL and SB (p < .05). Complete mineralized tissue barrier formation was observed in MTAPPL, NCMTA and PPL with no significant difference (p > .05). SB exhibited incomplete mineralized tissue barriers, significantly different from NCMTA, MTAPPL and PPL (p < .05). The staining with CD34 was positive in all the groups on all observation days. CONCLUSION: The favourable pulpal responses and induction of mineralized tissue formation associated with MTAPPL indicate its potential application as a direct pulp capping material.
  • Evaluation of shade matching of a novel supra‐nano filled esthetic resin composite employing structural color using simplified simulated clinical cavities

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the shade matching ability of a novel supra-nano filled esthetic resin composite employing structural color technology using simplified simulated clinical cavities. Filler morphology and light transmittance characteristics were also evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One-hundred and twenty frames of resin composite were built in A1, A2, A3, and A4 shades to simulate Class I cavities (diameter = 4 mm, height = 2 mm). For each shaded frame, cavities were filled with three different types of filler containing resin composites (n = 10): supra-nano filled (SN filled) resin composite, microhybrid filled (MH filled) resin composite, and clustered-nano filled (CN filled) resin composite. Color parameters were calculated using CIELAB (△Eab ) and CIEDE2000 (△E00 ). Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's test (α = .05). Filler morphology and light transmittance characteristics were measured to explore the role of structural color on shade matching. RESULTS: △Eab and △E00 of SN filled resin composite were significantly lower in A2, A3, and A4 shades (P < .05). CONCLUSIONS: The SN filled resin composite showed better shade matching with A2, A3, and A4 shades of resin composite frames compared to MH filled resin composite, and CN filled resin composite. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Universal-shade resin composites, which were expected to match nearly all shades, simplify the restorative procedure. Resin composite, which contained spherical supra-nano filler particles, could contribute most to its shade matching by stimulating structural color. Structural color technology may provide additional benefits for shade matching of resin composites.

    英語, 研究論文(学術雑誌), The removal or modification of smear layers that cover the dentin is critical to allow the penetration of adhesive molecules and to ensure a strong bond between resin and dentin. Aiming to establish a model for clinically-relevant dentin-bond testing, we evaluated the effects of smear layers created by abrasives having similar coarseness (180-grit SiC paper; fine-grit diamond bur) and application modes (single application; double application) on the microtensile bond strengths (µTBS) of two currently available universal adhesives (G-Premio Bond; Scotchbond Universal Adhesive) and a two-step self-etch adhesive (Clearfil Megabond 2). Sixty extracted human third molars were used for the μTBS test. Data were analyzed by three-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test (α = 0.05). Fracture modes were determined using stereomicroscopy. An additional 24 third molars were prepared for observation of the resin–dentin interface by TEM and adhesive-smear layer interaction by SEM. μTBS was significantly affected by the adhesives and their application modes (p < 0.001), implying that the double application of universal adhesives should be recommended to improve their performance. The effect of smear layers was not significant (p > 0.05), indicating that 180-grit SiC papers could be used to prepare dentin as a substitute for fine-grit diamond burs for dentin-bond testing in laboratory settings.
  • Global Dental Arch Dimension Norms and Sexual Disparities: An overview

    研究論文(学術雑誌), Background: The aim of the present study was to do an overview of the arch dimension for various populations. Also, to evaluate the various type of measurement methods and sexual disparities. Two reviewers independently performed the selection process and the quality of studies was assessed.
    Method: Studies published form January 2000 until October 2015 were identified in electronic databases: Pubmed, Scopus, Science direct, Web of Science, Medpilot and Medline using keywords.Criteria used included: observational studies, Arch size measured, Permanent dentition, Arch dimension investigated via plaster and digital dental models, measurement via calipers and computers software’s.
    Result: The forest plots showed the continuous trend for the greater arch dimension for male in relation to female. The current overview showed the arch dimension and its disparities for various populations.
    Conclusion: The various methods to assess arch dimension should be carefully considered and well conducted as part of the clinical assessment of orthodontic treatment, since arch dimension could influence the diagnosis and treatment planning of orthodontist.

    研究論文(学術雑誌), Aims: To correct the Angle class I malocclusion with crowding via four premolar extractions.Presentation of case:A 19-year-old Malaysian female presented with the bimaxillary protrusion, crowding, high canines, midline deviation and edge-to-edge anterior bite. Upper lateral incisors were palatalized and in crossbite interactions with the opposite teeth.Discussion: Treatment was initiated using fixed orthodontic appliances followed by four 1st premolar extractions in both arches. Case was finished with good inter cuspation of the upper and lower teeth. Molars were finished in a Class I relationship with canine guidance, and ideal overjet and overbite were obtained.Conclusion: Successful finishing of a case with beautiful smile, obtained proper overjet and overbite, corrected cross bite, midline shifting and the improved soft tissue profile.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.17(4) 2018 p.683-687

  • The combined application of mineral trioxide aggregate containing phosphorylated pullulan and colloidal platinum nanoparticles to control inflammation and facilitate dental pulp regeneration

    We evaluated the healing response of three different Colloidal platinum nanoparticles (CPN) materials in rodent dental pulp at day 1, 3 and 7 after direct capping. The teeth pulps were intentionally exposed and randomly divided into three groups according to the application of the CPN materials: group 1- PAA-PT (platinum, poly acrylic acid, water), group 2- C-PT (platinum, sodium citric acid, water) and group 3- C-CYD (platinum, sodium citric acid, γ-cyclodextrin, water).Additional two groups were included as positive control (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate-MTA) and negative control (Super Bond-SB). At day 1, no or mild inflammatory responses were observed in all three groups of CPN, which were significantly different to the MTA and SB groups (P<0.05), except C-PT group. At day 3, numerous blood vessels with no or mild inflammation were observed in the C- CYD group, indicating rapid angiogenesis, which was significantly different from MTA and SB groups (P<0.05), whereas PAA-PT and C-PT groups showed mild to moderate inflammatory responses. At day 7, no or mild inflammation was observed in the C-CYD group which was significantly different from PAA-PT, C-PT and SB (P<0.05), whereas mild or moderate inflammatory responses were observed in all other groups.
