英語, We investigate the effects of process conditions on the formation behavior of microchannels in reactive-sintered Ni-Al alloys as a part of a study to develop a powder-metallurgical process to produce a transpiration-cooling device including microchannel networks for a disaster preventing robot. 日本語, An experimental investigation is carried out on the effects of a sudden contraction on the characteristics of an air-water two-phase flow in a millimeter-scale rectangular channel. The results reveal that the flow pattern transition types caused by sudden contraction can be basically classified into five. The scatter of the leading edge velocity of a bubble observed downstream of the sudden contraction increases as the channel height becomes smaller than a certain critical value. 英語, The effect of potentiostatic dissolution on the structure of a Cu-Zn alloy microchannel lining layer was investigated. The microchannel lining layer was fabricated by a powder-metallurgical process using copper powder and zinc wire. The lining layer became more porous after potentiostatic dissolution at a constant potential of −0.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl. The lining layer was remarkably dezinced and it contained many open pores under the dissolution condition at +0.5 V. 英語, A novel process has been examined to produce a free-form metal pipe containing thin channels. This process combined a sacrificial-core method and Metal Injection Molding (MIM). MIM compound containing SUS304 stainless steel powder was used as a body compound, and a compound with Cu powder was used as a sacrificial-core compound. These compounds were assembled and injection-molded, and then thermally treated for dewaxing and sintering. With an adequate heating treatment, the sacrificial-core metal migrated to the body-metal region, and thus a channel was successfully produced. - Composition and Structure Changes in Al_3Ni_2 Microchannel Lining Layers by Alkali Leaching

英語, Effects of alkali leaching time on the composition and structure changes in the Al3Ni2 microchannel lining layer produced by a sacrificial-core method have been investigated. The composition was measured both on the specimen surface directly exposed to the leachant and on the new surface cut after alkali leaching. In each surface, the decrease in Al concentration became sluggish after formation of Ni3Al. 英語, We examine a concept and fabrication method of a microchannel-type transpiration-cooling device consisting of thermally resistant metals. The device consists of open-porous Ni-Al alloys and contains microchannel networks. Cooling water is supplied from a tank to every corner of the device through the microchannel networks, and then it seeps out to be vaporized absorbing the latent heat. The porous body of the device and the microchannel are produced by a powder-metallurgical microchanneling process using a sacrificial core. - Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow through an Orifice in Millimeter-Scale Rectangular Channel

An experimental investigation is carried out on air-water two-phase flow through a plate orifice in a millimeter-scale rectangular channel. The width of the channel is kept constant at 50 mm and the height is varied from 0.19 mm to 2.00 mm. The contraction ratio of the orifice is varied from 0.04 to 0.4, and the thickness of the orifice also is allowed to vary over a wide range. The flow patterns upstream and downstream of the orifice are observed with a high-speed camera and by visual inspection. The conditions for occurrence of the observed flow patterns are presented on a flow pattern map. The velocity of the leading edge of a bubble, representing the bubble velocity, is deduced from the camera images. In the upstream part of the test section the bubble velocity is approximated by the sum of the superficial velocities of air and water. A correlation is proposed for the maximum bubble velocity in the whole test section as a function of the two superficial velocities and the contraction ratio. - A bouncing droplet on an inclined hydrophobic surface

英語, The effect of an abrupt expansion on the flow pattern of air-water two-phase flow in a millimeter-scale rectangular channel was investigated. The channel height was fixed as 0.19 mm, 0.50 mm, 1.00 mm and 2.00 mm. The expansion ratio was 5, 2.5, 1.67 and 1.25 for every channel height. The superficial velocity of air was varied from 5.0 cm/s to 80.0 cm/s and that of water was varied from 10.0 cm/s to 80.0 cm/s. As a result, a flow pattern with recirculation zone was observed in the channel height of 2.00 mm and 1.00 mm. This is the same pattern as that in the conventional scale pipes and ducts with an abrupt expansion. Furthermore, there was no effect of an abrupt expansion on the flow pattern when the expansion ratio was close to unity. On the other hand, in the channel height of 0.19 mm, each bubble spread in the lateral direction after it passed through the abrupt expansion. 英語, Effects of channel gap and channel attitude on the flow pattern of gas-liquid two-phase flow in rectangular millimeter-scale gap channels are investigated. The channel gap is varied from 0.5mm to 10.0mm. The observed flow patterns in horizontally placed channels are classified into three categories: bubbly flow, slug flow and annular flow. As the gap becomes small, the bubbly flow regime shifts to the slug flow regime. The boundary between the slug flow regime and the annular flow regime is hardly dependent on the gap. In the bubbly flow regime, the so-called channeling phenomenon of bubbles takes place. Concerning the effects of channel attitude on the flow pattern, a channel with a gap of 1.0mm is mainly used. The inclination angle of the channel is varied from 0° to 90° . The observed flow patterns for a vertically wide channel with an inclination angle of 0° are classified into three categories: bubbly flow, slug flow and stratified wavy flow. Those for an inclination angle of 90° are classified into bubbly flow, slug flow and annular flow. As the inclination angle increases form 0 to about 30°, the bubbly flow regime becomes wide. With a further increase in the inclination angle from about 30° to 90°, it becomes narrow. The slug flow regime changes with an increase in the inclination angle in a complicated manner. - 扁平矩形流路における気液二相流の流動様式におよぼす壁面撥水性の影響

日本語, The flow patterns for gas-liquid two-phase flow have been experimentally investigated using "mm scale" rectangular channels. In this scale the transition of dominant forces from body forces such as the inertial force and buoyancy force to the surface force occurs. The surface force is changed in this study by coating repellent on the inner wall of the channel. The observed flow patterns are basically classified into three categories; bubbly flow, slug flow and annular flow just like those in wetted channels. 日本語, Experimental investigation was carried out on the gas-liquid mass flux and interfacial area in a bottom blown bubbling jet. The mass flux was measured by two methods in a relatively low gas flow rate regime. One is based on a change in the bubble size and the other is based on a change in the pH in the bath. When the gas flow rate exceeded a certain critical value, the mass transfer coefficient was satisfactorily apporoximated by an previously proposed empirical equation for a clean liquid, regardless of the degree of contamination. An empirical equation was proposed for the total interfacial area in a bubbling jet as a function of the physical properties of fluids and process parameters. - 強い乱流中の単一静止気泡からの物質移動

日本語, A single CO_2 bubble was held in a downward highly turbulent flow field realized in a tapered pipe. The dissolution process of the bubble was recorded with a CCD camera and the images were processed on a personal computer to determine the mass transfer coefficient for the bubble. An empirical equation was proposed for the mass transfer coefficient by referring to the previously obtained experimental findings. The equation is expressed as a function of the size of the bubble and the turbulence intensity in addition to the well-known Schmidt number and Reynolds number. The measured values of the mass transfer coefficient were approximated by the equation within a scatter of ±60%. Such estimation accuracy is acceptable in this kind of measurement. - 乱流に誘起された気液界面上の波動が物質移動におよぼす影響

日本語, Wave motions appear on the surface of a single-bubble rising in liquid when the bubble Reynolds number exceeds a certain critical value. Such wave motions enhance the mass transfer from the bubble to the liquid especially under the condition that the bubble surface is contaminated by surfactant. This is caused by surface renewal due to the wave motions. The mass transfer coefficient under this condition was experimentally measured using a simplified model. 英語, Top lance gas injection processes are extensively used in metallurgical engineering. When the exit of the top lance is placed near the bath surface, a downward bubbling jet is generated in the bath. The flow patterns of the downward bubbling jet are classified into seven categories mainly with gas flow rate. Instability phenomena of the bubbling jet appear when the gas flow rate is higher than a certain critical value. The phenomena are strongly dependent on the penetration depth of the bubbling jet into the bath, and hence, an empirical relation is proposed for the penetration depth as a function of the gas flow rate, nozzle diameter and vessel diameter. - KClとTiCl_4からのK_2TiCl_6の合成反応特性

日本語, 溶融塩を用いたTiの電解採取や還元製造のための原料塩であるK<SUB>2</SUB>TiCl<SUB>6</SUB>の合成におけるKClと TiCl<SUB>4</SUB>の反応特性を検討した.K<SUB>2</SUB>TiCl<SUB>6</SUB>の合成反応実験では, 種々の粒径のKCl粒子を用い, 過剰のTiCl<SUB>4</SUB>ガスと683Kで接触させた.その結果, 反応速度は反応進行に伴って急速に低下し, 反応は完了前に実質的に停止することが判明した.生成粒子断面のEPMA分析結果から, 反応の停止がK<SUB>2</SUB>TiCl<SUB>6</SUB>の粒子外殻層形成に起因し, 層厚さが5~6μmに達すると起こることがわかった.さらに, これらの結果が生成物層内のTiCl<SUB>4</SUB>ガスの拡散律速を仮定した未反応核モデルにより説明できることを明らかにした. - NaCl-KCl等モル混合塩におけるTiCl_4の溶解特性

日本語, Changes in mass with time due to gas evolution during carbonization were observed for particles and a cylindrical pellet of various coals heated respectively in a thermogravimetric balance and a microautoclave. The experiments were carried out for a range of the heating rate from 1 to 50K/min, the holding temperature from 673 to 823K and the nitrogen gas pressure of 0.1 and 1.0MPa. Effects of these operating variables on the gas evolution characteristics were experimentally examined. It was demonstrated that the gas evolution characteristics depend on the heating rate and the holding temperature as well as coal nature. Moreover, the total amount of gas evolved at a holding temperature was shown to be independent of the heating rate and to increase with the holding temperature. A simple reaction model is proposed for gas evolution which assumes coal to consist of two components having different reactivities for pyrolysis ; one producing gas along with formation of semicoke via plastic intermediate and the other converting directly to gas. The model parameters were analyzed by fitting the model to the observed results and successfully utilized to explain observed results at different operating conditions. - 高温塩化物溶融塩中におけるAl_3Ti金属間化合物の生成

英語, Needle penetration and volumetric dilation were measured for cylindrical pellets of six kinds of pulverized coal particles using a needle penetrometer. The measurements were conducted for a range of the heating rate from 1 to 20 K/min, the holding temperature from 698 to 823 K and the nitrogen gas pressure from 0.1 to 3.0 MPa. Both needle penetration and dilation characteristics depended on these operating variables. Especially, an appreciable needle penetration occurred at high heating rate for coals which exhibited little softening property at low heating rata. Unreasonably high activation energies for viscosity were obtained when the needle penetration curves were analyzed on the basis of an equation of motion assuming that the pellet behaves as a Newtonian fluid with a temperature dependency of viscosity given by Andrade's equation.

Relationship between the channel height and flow pattern of gas-liquid tow-phase flow in a millimeter-scale rectangular channel has been investigated experimentally. Particular attention is paid to the effect of the channel height on the flow pattern through a sudden expansion. The height is reduced from 2mm to 0.5mm. Some interesting flow patterns are observed with a decrease in the height of the channel.
