  本年度はまず前年度の作業を継続し、中国詩と中国画の関係を説明するための重要な概念である「気韻生動」について、二〇世紀前期の代表的な論考や諸論考の関係を検討することで、この概念が近代に西洋の影響を受けつつ、伝統的な意味を取り戻していった経緯を描き出した。その成果を日本中国学会で口頭発表し、『日本中国学会報』に論文を受理された。
  また、二〇世紀中国の重要な美学者、朱光潜・宗白華・銭鍾書の詩画比較論を中心に、彼らの美学思想の検討の結果をまとめ、日本の学術誌である『野草』・『日本中国学会報』・『美学』、また中国の学術誌『文学評論』に論文を発表した。彼らは日本での知名度が低いため、特に積極的に美学会や東京大学東アジア藝文書院（EAA） シンポジウムにて口頭発表した。
  あわせて中国の詩画比較論を中心にヨーロッパと台湾の学会にて英語で発表した。その際、方東美の美学思想の重要性が浮上してきたため、これを今後の課題として追加した。
  なお、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大により、中国での調査は予定通り実行することはできなかったが、年度末にアメリカ・UCバークリー校にて学術訪問を行い、Getty美術館、Asian Art Museum of San Francisco、Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archiveにおける中国絵画や、アメリカにおける東アジア研究状況を調査した。
