English, Scientific journal, Phthalocyanines (Pcs) have garnered significant attention as promising catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR); however, traditional methods for preparing carbon-supported Pcs are often complex and time-consuming, limiting their industrial applicability. Herein, a rapid spray-growth method is introduced that directly deposits CoPc crystals onto carbon paper (CP) in just 15 min. The resulting CoPc/CP electrode maintains > 90% CO selectivity across a broad ECR window (-0.57 to -1.32 V vs RHE), achieves a record-breaking CO current density of -1034 mA cm-2, an ultrahigh mass activity of 5180 A g-1, and demonstrates excellent long-term stability (145 h @ -150 mA cm-2), surpassing all reported Pc-based catalysts. Comprehensive characterization attributes this high performance to its carbon-supported-crystalline structure and surface charge transfer (SCT). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further reveal that even minimal SCT effectively optimizes the adsorption energies of key intermediates (*CO and *COOH), thereby significantly enhancing intrinsic activity. Moreover, this spray-grown electrode offers unique structural advantages, such as strong substrate adhesion and internal layers that replenish active sites-features absent in traditional carbon-supported electrodes. It is believed that this facile spray-growth method holds broad potential and enables the application of additional Pc-based materials for industrial-scale ECR. - Atomic Layer Deposition of Hafnium–Zirconium-Oxide Films Using a Liquid Cocktail Precursor Containing Hf(dmap)4 and Zr(dmap)4 for Ferroelectric Devices

The chirality and chiroptical response of materials have attracted significant attention for their potential to introduce the new science of light-matter interactions. We demonstrate that collective mode formation under modal coupling between localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) with a chiral arrangement and Fabry–Pérot (FP) nanocavity modes can induce chiroptical responses. We fabricated a cluster of isotropic gold nanodisks with a chiral arrangement (gold nano-windmills, Au-NWs) on the FP nanocavities of TiO2 and Au film. The differential absorption of the Au-NWs coupled with the FP nanocavities under left- and right-handed circularly polarized light irradiations in the far field was significantly enhanced compared with the differential absorption without the FP nanocavities. Far- and near-field analyses by numerical simulation revealed that the Au-NWs coupled with the FP nanocavities formed a collective mode in the near field, and the collective mode represented the chiroptical response in the far field. The light field with the large helicity, can be used in chiral light-matter interactions. The concept of collective mode formation using isotropic metal nanodisks coupled with FP nanocavities provides a platform for controlling complex light fields.

Scientific journal, Friction reduction is important from the viewpoint of energy problems and other issues. Frictional forces are known to vary depending on the material property, surface texture, and measurement scale. However, the effect of submicron‐sized moth‐eye structures prepared of robust plastic deformation materials on dry friction under high‐load conditions has not been investigated in detail. To investigate this, a copper moth‐eye structure is fabricated via electroforming for experimental measurements. Results from the friction tests reveal that real contact area increase is suppressed, as the friction coefficient of the moth‐eye structure decreases exponentially with increasing load. Further friction simulation demonstrates nanoscale contact between the structure's tip and indenter, indicating that the real contact area increase requires deformation of the moth‐eye structure itself (microcontact). However, the contact pressure on the surface is reduced by dispersing the load to the sides and bottom of the moth‐eye structure. Therefore, the suppression of real contact area increase can be attributed to the deformation suppression facilitated by load dispersion. These findings expand the possibilities for friction design with surface textures because they reveal the role of robustness due to submicron‐scale surface microstructure in reducing friction between plastic deformation materials. - Reliable Operation in High‐Mobility Indium Oxide Thin Film Transistors

Transparent oxide semiconductors (TOSs) based thin‐film transistors (TFTs) that exhibit higher field effect mobility (µFE) are highly required toward the realization of next‐generation displays. Among numerous types of TOS‐TFTs, In2O3‐based TFTs are the front‐running candidate because they exhibit the highest µFE ≈100 cm2 V−1 s−1. However, the device operation of In2O3 TFTs is unreliable; a large voltage shift occurs especially when negative gate bias is applied due to adsorption/desorption of gas molecules. Although passivation of the TFTs is used to overcome such instability, previously proposed passivation materials do not improve the reliability. Here, it is shown that the In2O3 TFTs passivated with Y2O3 and Er2O3 films are highly reliable and do not show threshold voltage shifts when applying gate bias. Positive and negative gate bias is applied to the In2O3 TFTs passivated with various insulating oxides and found that only the In2O3 TFTs passivated with Y2O3 and Er2O3 films do not exhibit threshold voltage shifts. It is observed that only the Y2O3 grew heteroepitaxially on the In2O3 crystal. This is the origin of the high reliability of the In2O3 TFTs passivated with Y2O3 and Er2O3 films. This finding accelerates the development of next‐generation displays using high‐mobility In2O3 TFTs. - Hierarchical Au Nanoflowers Formed in an Ionic Liquid/Water System for Bacterial Inhibition

Polycrystalline indium oxide-based thin film transistors (In2O3 TFTs) have attracted considerable attention because of high field effect mobility (μ FE ∼ 100 cm2 V−1 s−1). However, In2O3 TFTs exhibit poor reliability owing to the adsorption and/or desorption of gas molecules at the grain boundaries. The incorporation of Zn suppresses the crystallization of In2O3. Herein, we systematically studied the effect of Zn incorporation into In2O3 TFTs. The crystallization of In2O3 was suppressed when the Zn concentration ranged from 25% to 68%. Amorphous InZnO (IZO) TFTs with 25% Zn exhibited the highest μ FE of 41 cm2 V−1 s−1 and excellent reliability. In contrast, polycrystalline IZO TFTs showed a low μ FE <12 cm2 V−1 s−1 due to the formation of grain boundaries, and poor reliability after positive gate bias, mostly due to electron trapping at the polycrystalline/insulator interface. These results render an approach to realize In2O3 TFTs that show reasonably high μ FE and excellent reliability. - Solid‐State Electrochemical Thermal Switches with Large Thermal Conductivity Switching Widths

Thermal switches that switch the thermal conductivity (κ) of the active layers are attracting increasing attention as thermal management devices. For electrochemical thermal switches, several transition metal oxides (TMOs) are proposed as active layers. After electrochemical redox treatment, the crystal structure of the TMO is modulated, which results in the κ switching. However, the κ switching width is still small (<4 W m−1 K−1). In this study, it demonstrates that LaNiOx‐based solid‐state electrochemical thermal switches have a κ switching width of 4.3 W m−1 K−1. Fully oxidized LaNiO3 (on state) has a κ of 6.0 W m−1 K−1 due to the large contribution of electron thermal conductivity (κele, 3.1 W m−1 K−1). In contrast, reduced LaNiO2.72 (off state) has a κ of 1.7 W m−1 K−1 because the phonons are scattered by the oxygen vacancies. The LaNiOx‐based electrochemical thermal switch is cyclable of κ and the crystalline lattice of LaNiOx. This electrochemical thermal switch may be a promising platform for next‐generation devices such as thermal displays. - Benchmarking pH-field coupled microkinetic modeling against oxygen reduction in large-scale Fe–azaphthalocyanine catalysts

English, Scientific journal, Some small animals only use water transport mechanisms passively driven by surface energies. However, little is known about passive water transport mechanisms because it is difficult to measure the wettability of microstructures in small areas and determine the chemistry of biological surfaces. Herein, we developed to directly analyse the structural effects of wettability of chemically modified biological surfaces by using a nanoliter volume water droplet and a hi-speed video system. The wharf roach Ligia exotica transports water only by using open capillaries in its legs containing hair-and paddle-like microstructures. The structural effects of legs chemically modified with a self-assembled monolayer were analysed, so that the wharf roach has a smart water transport system passively driven by differences of wettability between the microstructures. We anticipate that this passive water transport mechanism may inspire novel biomimetic fluid manipulations with or without a gravitational field. - 塩基配列選択的な金属化によるナノギャップ構造形成に向けた鋳型DNAの作製

English, Scientific journal, Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) can be supported by metallic nanoparticles and engineered nanostructures. An understanding of the spatially resolved near-field properties and dynamics of LSPR is important, but remains experimentally challenging. We report experimental studies toward this aim using photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) with high spatial resolution of sub-10 nm. Various engineered gold nanostructure arrays (such as rods, nanodisk-like particles and dimers) are investigated via PEEM using near-infrared (NIR) femtosecond laser pulses as the excitation source. When the LSPR wavelengths overlap the spectrum of the femtosecond pulses, the LSPR is efficiently excited and promotes multiphoton photoemission, which is correlated with the local intensity of the metallic nanoparticles in the near field. Thus, the local field distribution of the LSPR on different Au nanostructures can be directly explored and discussed using the PEEM images. In addition, the dynamics of the LSPR is studied by combining interferometric time-resolved pump-probe technique and PEEM. Detailed information on the oscillation and dephasing of the LSPR field can be obtained. English, Scientific journal, A new technique is proposed for the transient absorption spectroscopy of a single metallic nanoparticle. This technique is based on a differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy using pulsed laser light. A single nanoparticle is excited by a pumping laser beam, and the DIC signal of a probing light is measured to precisely determine the amplitude and phase of the forward-scattered light. The refractive index and the absorption coefficient of the excited particle can be estimated on the basis of the Rayleigh scattering theory. By changing the delay time between the pumping and probing pulses, absorption dynamics of a single nanoparticle can be observed on a femtosecond time scale. As a preliminary experiment, the electron dynamics of a 70 nm silver colloidal particle was analyzed with this technique. - Absorption analysis of a single microparticle by optical force measurement

We have developed a highly efficient analytical chip for laser desorption/ionization (soft ionization) of atmospheric nano organics, which is necessary for direct mass analysis, without fragmentation of the organics. Specifically, novel soft ionization substrates were developed in which noble metal nanostructures with localized surface plasmons are formed on the surface of a silicon three-dimensional pillar structure, combined with electric field enhancement by optical antenna effect. Some organic materials that does not absorb at the laser light wavelength onto this substrate were absorbed and then laser light is irradiated to this substrate. We confirmed that these organic materials were ionized and that the noble metal nanostructure improved ionization efficiency.

In order to clarify the surface plasmon interaction between metal plates, which is important for the evaluation of the short-range Casimir force, we fabricated metal/insulator/metal (MIM) structure and analyzed the relationship between the the interaction energy and the gap spacing by EELS measurements. The surface plasmon resonance energies excited at the Ag/silica and Ag/alumina interface are 3.3 eV and 3.0 eV, respectively. In the MIM structure, the resonance energy shifted to the high energy side as the gap spacing became narrower. It was experimentally shown that the surface plasmon interaction has a significant effect on the Casimir effect between metal plates with a gap spacing of less than 100 nm.

Fabrication of elastic modulus controlled honeycomb films was successfully realized and applied them to the substrates for cultivating hMSC, iPS, and neuron cells with controlling their adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. By using those data, extraction of conditions for controlling differentiation of stem cells was achieved. Furthermore, theoretical simulation based on coupled Cahn-Hilliard equation revealed the nanoscale structural control of polymer particles, and inorganic-organic composite particles with nanostructures were successfully prepared. By using magnetic nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles as composite materials with polymers, nanostructured composite particles were successfully prepared by self-organization process and applied them to site selective Raman scattering measurement probes.

Diblock and triblock copolymers containing polyvinyl catechol (PVCa) moieties were successfully synthesized by using reversible-addition fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization process. Iron oxide nanoparticles and silver nanoparticles were co-assembled in the PVCa phases by using adhesion and reduction properties of catechol moieties, and the composite films show unique magneto-optical effect in the wavelength of the plasmonic absorption band of silver nanoparticles. From these results, we have succeeded in the development of a new fabrication process of metamaterials by using biomimetic block copolymers.

Biomimetics is an emergent interdisciplinary field of natural history, biology, ecology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, nanotechnology, materials science, mechanical engineering, architecture, economics, and sociology. The comprehensive “translational research” combining various fields of science and technology is indispensable to open the new paradigm based on ”biological diversity” and “human wisdom”. Through the design and fabrication of materials and devices based on knowledge obtained from biological diversity and a biological process, we aim to make a platform for development of new industry by compiling a "Biomimetics database".

The hierarchy of the sub cellular size structure of the creature develops various functions such as self-healing (surface of the leaves), the reversible adhesion (attachment device of the insect), self-alignment and antifouling (the surface of a slug and the lotus leaves). This study finds out about the mechanism of each function from the point of view of biophysics, the materials science or surface science and aimed at the innovative materials development.
We achieved successfully a development of the superior multilayer films coating which conventional artificial materials did not have self-healing, antifouling, and development of the self-alignment which used the bubble by an idea new at all, the realization of a reversible adhesive mechanism approximately as scheduled.

In this study, I tried to fabricate a nanostructure of titanium nitride by using electron beam lithography system. And new devices which had plasmon resonance corresponding to visible light were fabricated.
As a result, titanium thin film including nitrogen was formed by a reactive sputtering system. And nanostructure of titanium nitride (diameter 100nm) was formed by lift off method of electron beam lithography. In addition, I measured raman spectra of Rhodamine molecules on titanium nitride film by micro raman spectroscope. In that case, I showed that raman signal was enhanced by roughness of titanium nitride film surface.

パッチワーク法による新しいMEND構築方法を確立し一枚膜でコア粒子をパッケージする新しい方法を開発し、平均粒子径が25nm程度でゼータ電位が-40mV程度の構造体を得ることに成功し、P-MENDと命名した。D-MEND法と組み合わせることでPD- MEND(3枚膜構造)を構築したところ、市販の試薬より高い活性を示した。マイクロ流体デバイスを開発し、最小粒径30nmのMENDを作製することに成功した。一方でマイクロ流路作製についての検討し、ナノインプリント手法によりガラスマイクロ流路の量産が可能であることをしめした。また、シースフローと電場を利用したマイクロフリーフロー電気泳動デバイスの構造・分離条件の最適化を行い、MEND精製に適用することでMENDの定性的かつ定量的評価法を確立した。KALAペプチドを導入した脂質膜封入型ナノ粒子にがん抗原等をコードした遺伝子を封入することで、抗腫瘍活性を得ることに成功した。また、本粒子は細胞に対し免疫活性化効果を有することを示し、その機構に細胞質内DNAセンサーが関与することを示唆する結果を得た。酵素耐性RNAアプタマーの単離に世界で始めて成功した。Mt移行性ペプチドを搭載したMTS-MITO-Porterを構築し、生細胞内での選択的Mt送達システムを開発し、MTS-MITO-Porterは従来型MITO-Porterと比較してミトコンドリア移行能が飛躍的に上昇した。GAL4とVP16の融合蛋白質を用いる自己活性化システムを構築し、reporterプラスミドDNAの単独投与に比べて数十倍にルシフェラーゼ活性が上昇した。アンチセンスRNA (ASO)をMITO-Porterを用いて細胞Mtに送達し、ミトコンドリアmRNAを40%抑制し、さらに標的mRNAがコードする内因性Mtタンパク質の発現量が低下した。

We previously showed that microparts can be fed along an asymmetric microfabricated surface using simple planar symmetric vibrations. Microparts move in one direction because they adhere to the microfabricated surface asymmetrically. In the present work, we applied the etching process of single crystal silicon to develop higher accurate and uniform asymmetric fabricated surfaces. Using a silicon wafer with a plain orientation of (221), an asymmetric periodic structure is generated on its surface because the etching speed is different between forward and backward of the crystal face. We examined the applicability for microparts feeding by experiments. We also analyzed the micropart movement using a movement analysis microscopic system then assessed the stability of microparts feeding.

DNA-based nanoparticle assembly is powerful tool for fabrication of nanostructures such as nano-patterning, whereas it is required to prepare nanoparticles in which a discrete and known number of single-stranded oligonucleotides are attached by thiol. We attempted to polymerize single primer-template DNA bound to Au nanoparticles by DNA polymerase, Klenow Fragment exo- (KF-), depending on reaction time. The AFM observation and gel electrophoresis suggest that KF- extended the short primer template bound to Au nanoparticle.

In this study, the luminescent metal cluster was prepared with DNA and I tried to prepare the hierarchical nanoparticles on the surface covered with luminescent metal cluster. I have investigated the enhancement of luminescence of metal cluster was induced by plasmonic metal nanoparticles. As a results, the luminescent wavelength shifted by base sequence of nucleic acid.

金属ナノ構造体に局在化した光電場と蛍光分子が強くカップリングし、蛍光強度が大幅に増強される現象が報告されている。我々がDNAを鋳型とした銀ナノ粒子の作製を行ったところ、核酸塩基の種類によって作製される銀ナノ粒子のサイズが異なることや作製した銀ナノ粒子が光励起によって可視域に強い発光を示すことを見いだした。通常、DNAは可視域において発光しないことから銀ナノ粒子とDNA間の相互作用が発光に重要な役割を果たしていると考えられる。本研究では銀ナノ粒子の作製条件を調整してDNAと結合した銀ナノ粒子の構造制御を試みることやその発光特性についての分析を行うことにより、発光メカニズムの詳細について検討を行った。DNAが結合した銀ナノ粒子は単一塩基で構成される一本鎖DNA (オリゴヌクレオチド) を含む緩衝溶液へ硝酸銀水溶液を加えた混合溶液に紫外光を約5分間照射することにより作製した。吸収スペクトルが銀ナノ粒子の表面プラズモン吸収に由来するピークを示すことや透過電子顕微鏡 (TEM) 像から、粒径が10nm〜50nm程度の銀ナノ粒子の形成を確認した。蛍光相関分光法による測定から発光ナノ粒子のサイズが約10nmであることがわかり、TEM像の結果と併せることにより単一銀ナノ粒子が発光していることが示唆された。また、銀ナノ粒子を基板上に固定化して励起光を照射すると発光が観察されるが、照射時間が一時...

ウイルスのタンパク質が自己集合して形成するウイルス様微粒子(virus-like particle : VLP)は、ウイルスゲノムを持たずにウイルスと同じ経路で細胞内へ導入されるため、ドラッグデリバリーシステムのキャリアー等として注目されている。私たちはVLPの持つ糖鎖認識性に着目し、糖鎖の分子認識を利用してウイルスの周辺に規則的に金属微粒子を配列させることを目的に研究を進めた。まず金微粒子にシアル酸を提示させる技術を確立した。このシアル酸提示金微粒子は非常に水への分散性が高く、ウイルスと結合させても沈殿するようなことはなかった。VLPとシアル酸を修飾した金ナノ粒子の複合体形成の電子顕微鏡像(STEM)を詳細に検討すると、VLPの表層に特異的に金ナノ粒子が結合している様子が観察された。また、紫外可視吸収スペクトルの長波長シフトには、金ナノ粒子表面のシアル酸の有無によって有意な差が生じたことから、溶液中でも金ナノ粒子がVLPに結合していることが示された。さらに金ナノ粒子濃度の上昇に伴いプラズモン吸収の長波長側への大きなシフトが測定された。これはウイルスを鋳型とした金ナノ粒子の結合により、三次元的なプラズモンのカップリングが起きたことを意味している。さらにウイルスと金微粒子の結合を促進するために、デキストランを添加した。この効果は高分子クラウディング効果と言われるが、金属微粒子と...

微細な凹凸構造をもつ基板上にDNA を伸長固定化することでDNA 結合タンパク質が自由な環境下でDNA と相互作用が可能となるDNA チップの作製を試みた。研究成果としては光リソグラフィー技術を用いたシリコン基板上への微小な凹凸構造作製、また高分子フィルム上への凹凸構造を作製することにより、様々な基板へのDNA の伸長固定化条件の抽出を行った。これによりDNAとDNA結合タンパク質の相互作用解析用基板の作製を可能にした。

本研究では、ボトムアップナノテクノロジ-のキ-技術である自己組織化によるナノ・ミクロ構造形成と、成熟した技術である無電解メッキを組み合わせることで、全湿式プロセスによるラピッドプロトタイピングが可能であることを示すことができた。また、マイクロメ-タ-スケ-ルの細孔を有するハニカム様多孔質フィルムが赤外領域でフォトニック結晶になりうることを確認しており、細孔径のサブミクロン化によって可視光領域でのフォトニック結晶が可能となる。金属化により、高屈折率化と力学強度にすぐれた材料が期待される。

これまで申請者は、DNA水溶液上にカチオン性の両親媒性化合物を展開し、静電的相互作用により気水界面に形成したDNA分子とのポリイオン複合膜をLangmuir-Blodgett(LB)法により、単分子膜に流動性を持たせた状態で固体基板上に移し取ると、溶液中ではランダムコイル形状であったDNA分子が伸長して固定化されることを見い出してきた。伸長・固定化された個々DNAA分子は長さ解析の結果、単一分子であることが明らかとなり、また二重らせんDNA鎖をほぼ伸び切り構造で2次元に配列することができることを示した。しかし、DNAが伸長するメカニズムは明らかになっていない。そこで研究では、これまで未開拓であったメニスカスにおける高分子鎖のダイナミクスの計測技術の開発を通じて、LB法によるDNAの伸長機構を明らかにすることを目的とした。DNAが気体・液体・固体の三相が交差するメニスカスにおいて伸長されることから、メニスカスでのDNA分子の運動を観察できる蛍光顕微鏡システムを構築した。このシステムを用いてDNA水溶液上にジアルキルアンモニウム塩(2C_<18>N^+2C_1)を展開することで気液界面に形成した2C_<18>N^+2C_1/DNAポリイオン複合単分子膜の観察を行った。その結果、糸まり状のDNAがメニスカス境界部分で数秒間滞留し、その後基板状に伸長した状態で固定化されていく様子が観...

本研究は、有機材料の分子配向と非線形感受率が密接な関係にあることに着目し、高分子配向制御薄膜による新規非線形光学素子の開発を目指して行われた。有機材料は比較的大きな非線形感受率と高速応答を示すことから注目を浴びているが、材料として応用範囲の広い高分子に関しては分子量が大きく、結晶化や化学的な手法で配向制御が困難なために分子配向と非線形光学応答を結びつける研究例は少ない。そこで高分子鎖を配向させる方法としてLangmuir-Blodgett(LB)法を用い、単一高分子鎖レベルで配向制御した高分子薄膜の作製を試みた。
高分子としては有機発光材料として用いられているポリフェニレンビニレンの前駆体(Pre-PPV)を用いた。Pre-PPVをLB法の下水相としてガラス上へ累積を行った。その結果、ガラス基板上に効率よくPry-PPVが累積されることを確認した。しかしながら固定化されたPre-PPV分子からは偏光発光などが観察されなかった。そこでLB法でDNAが伸長・固定化されること、DNAのアニオン性とカチオン性Pre-PPVのポリイオン複合体形成を利用し、LB法によるDNA/Pre-PPV複合体の伸長・固定化を行った。その結果、DNAに沿ってPre-PPVが基板上に固定化されることがわかった。また、溶液中の蛍光スペクトルからDNA/Pre-PPVの複合体形成によりPre-PPVのコンフォメーション変化が誘起されることがわかった。このことからDNAを鋳型とすることで非線形光学材料の分子配向制御・固定化が可能であることが示された。

We have studied the fabrication of planner polymer devices by using self-organization based on non-equilibrium phenomena. Honeycomb-patterned films from various kinds of functional polymers were prepared by casting polymer solutions under humid conditions. Water droplets were condensed onto the solution surface by evaporation cooling, and finally, the micro-porous polymer films were formed after complete evaporation of solvent and template water droplets.
