  • 「奈良朝勅定一切経」の総合的研究ー漢文仏教テクストの資料的基盤の再構築に向けて

    研究目的の主要な一つは研究課題にある、個別の奈良朝勅定一切経の経巻を調査することであるが、コロナ禍でその進捗状況は想定以下であった。そのような中で布施美術館蔵の五月一日経を調査し、“いとくら”11号の表紙に掲載しただけでなく、本文テクストについても考察し得たことは大きい。一方、正倉院聖語蔵の五月一日経750巻は初年度から大学図書館所蔵の画像（丸善雄松堂）の閲覧ならびに他の経巻との比較検討が行われてきている。
    なかでも令和３年度の特筆事項としては国宝本『金剛場陀羅尼経』（686年書写）と正倉院聖語蔵の当該経典（720年奥書）との比較により紙背に見える「天平十八年」という記録が後世の誤った記載であることが推測できた。本来ならば両本の熟覧調査が必要であることは言を俟たないが、国宝本と正倉院聖語蔵本の調査は容易でない。
    加えて、奈良朝勅定一切経データベースの構築が出来てから翻刻や書誌情報を入力していき、その具体的な様相の把握が容易になり、極めて興味深い新知見が得られた。それは正倉院聖語蔵の五月一日経『一切法高王経』には内題下に「備」の一文字が記載され、さらに平安鎌倉写経の金剛寺一切経にも「備」が付されていた。七寺一切経には一文字が無く、かつ五月一日経にある朱字校正の文字群と同じであることが判明し、日本古写経には五月一日経系と五月十一日経系の二系統があることが見えてきた。五月一日経の朱字は林寺正俊論攷（日本古写経善本叢刊第10輯）に依って五月十一日経であることが証明された。今後は聖語蔵の五月一日経750巻すべてと平安鎌倉写経（金剛寺一切経・興聖寺一切経・七寺一切経）と併せ検討する必要性が認められた。この具体的な研究方法論に基づいて二系統の奈良写経のどちらかが平安鎌倉写経に流伝したか検証することが可能となる。

  • 諸宗教における正典化をテーマとする、比較宗教教典研究の立ち上げのための総合的研究

    第2年度も第1年度と同様、研究会合を着実に重ねていくことができ、研究代表者・分担者が扱っている個別宗教（仏教・ユダヤ教・キリスト教）以外の宗教の状況についても学ぶことができたことは、当初の計画どおりの進展だったと言うことができる。
    但し、比較宗教教典研究という、本研究計画がそもそもの立ち上げを企図している当の研究「分野」（とあえて言うとして）に即して言えば、他の諸宗教に関して知見を得ることによって、問題の困難さが浮き彫りになったと言うことができる。
    より具体的に言えば、近代日本の新宗教中の代表例と評しうる天理教との関連では、聖典の形成という事態が、教祖自身の言動或いは行動に基づく形で進展するということが（仏教やキリスト教の場合と異なり）必ずしも見られず、むしろ、教学の必要（及び、そのような体制整備によって、明治政府から一人前の宗教と認められるという差し迫った目的）に鑑みて、教学を念頭に置いた「教典」（これは天理教自体の用語法によっており、本研究計画が念頭に置いている「教典」とはやや意味が異なる）が聖典（これまた天理教自体の用語法によっており、本研究計画が念頭に置いている「教典」はむしろこの意味の聖典に近い）に先だって成立するという事態が見られた。つまり概念規定の妥当性に関する反省が求められたと言える。また、ゾロアスター教やインドの民族宗教（あえて言えば、バラモン教）との関連では、教典となるものの内容は古くから存在するがそれが文字化されない時期が長く続いたという、それ自体は既知ではある問題が改めて突きつけられることとなり、この事態をどう織り込んで比較宗教教典研究を推進していくかについて、今なお暗中模索の段階にあるということができる。
    但し、この暗中模索は元々必要な経過点だと言うことはできるのであり、その意味では本研究計画は第2年度も着実な進展を遂げたと言えるのではあるまいか。

    The recent first-hand investigation of Buddhist manuscripts preserved in Japanese monasteries has made it clear that some manuscript versions of Chinese translation of Buddhist scriptures are largely different from their woodblock printed versions in terms of contents, even though they all bear exactly the same title. Takinig up one of those texts of the above-mentioned kind, that is, the text of the San fa du lun found in old manuscript collections, I clarified different aspects of the transmission of Buddhist texts, aspects that we would not have learned from the study based on the woodblock printed versions alone.

    The recent first-hand investigation of Buddhist manuscripts preserved in Japanese monasteries has made it clear that some manuscript versions of Chinese translation of Buddhist scriptures are largely different from their printed versions in terms of contents, even though they all have exactly the same title.
    Focusing on two scriptures among those of the above-mentioned kind, that is, the Wuwang jing and the Puxian pusa xing yuan zan, I clarified their aspects which had been unknown from research based on printed versions alone.

    昨年度に引き続き、南方上座部(大寺派)の『分別論(Vibhanga)』、説一切有部の『法蘊足論(Dharmaskandha)』、法蔵部の『舎利弗阿毘曇論』に見られる各部派の縁起解釈を検討し、次の二点を明らかにした。
    1.いずれの論書も『マハー・ニダーナ(Maha-nidana)』という経典に説かれる縁起説を強く意識しており、そのことは、各論書がそれぞれ独自に発展する以前に共通の源泉資料として存在していた頃からすでに、当経典の縁起説が大きな問題となっていて、縁起説と輪廻の関係が解釈上の重要な論題となっていたことを示している。
    2.こうした議論の傾向こそが、後の論書における三世両重の因果の解釈、すなわち、十二支縁起は過去・現在・未来にわたって輪廻を繰り返す衆生の迷いの生存をあらわすものである、という解釈に連なっている。
    このように、それぞれの部派は縁起説を解釈する際に輪廻説に対する関心を共有しているのであるが、従来の縁起思想研究においては、縁起説が輪廻と関係するのかどうかという点をめぐって諸学者の見解が異なっていた。本年度は縁起思想に関する研究史についても吟味・検討したが、その作業の過程で、西洋の研究者が仏教思想に対していかに近代的な合理主義的精神をもってアプローチしたか、一方、そうした近代的な研究手法を日本の研究者はどのように受け入れ、同時にどのような内面的葛藤を抱えていたのかという問題を、特に近代仏教学の成立史上重要なF.マックス・ミュラー、南條文雄、笠原研寿の場合について明らかにした。その上で、仏教研究に対するこうした姿勢や方向性の違いが、従来の縁起研究における諸学者のさまざまな見解にも影響を与えていることを確認し、以上の知見を発表した。
