AbstractEnvironmental challenges have become a matter of great concern, requiring immediate attention. Agricultural pollution, such as ammonia discharge, and industrial pollution, including the abuse of organic dyes, present significant dilemmas for humanity. In response to these challenges, we propose an approach by synthesizing TiO2-CuO hetero-nanoparticles capable of degrading multiple hazardous environmental substances. Submerged photosynthesis of crystallites (SPSC) can synthesize or assist in the synthesis of metal oxides due to its simplicity and environmentally friendly nature. TiO2-CuO hetero-nanoparticles with varying Cu-Ti molar ratios were prepared, characterized, and evaluated for performance. The dispersion of CuO within TiO2 was found to be relatively uniform. Increasing the amount of added Cu resulted in an increase in CuO content until reaching the upper limit. Despite minor variations, all hetero-nanoparticle samples exhibited excellent solar light absorption performance. The simultaneous utilization of solar light illumination and electrochemical techniques synergistically enhanced the degradation process of these hazardous substances. The hetero-nanoparticle with a Cu-Ti molar ratio of 0.17 demonstrated the optimal photo-electrochemical degradation performance, exhibiting a 150% increase in degradation efficiency under solar light illumination compared to dark condition. Furthermore, it exhibited superior efficiency in the electrochemical degradation of RhB under solar light, degrading 32% more than solar light alone, and 2% more than electrochemistry alone. The mechanisms behind the fabrication and degradation processes were also discussed, elucidating the underlying principles driving the observed performance. In conclusion, our research highlights the potential of TiO2-CuO hetero-nanoparticles for solar light-assisted degradation of NH3 and RhB, showcasing their environmental applications.

English, Scientific journal, We investigate magnetic properties of FeAl stripes and dots formed on the surface of Fe52Al48 induced by nanosecond pulsed laser irradiation. According to the in-plane magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) measurements, the magnetization reversal in FeAl stripes can be explained by the domain-wall (DW) motion model, indicating that the magnetization rotates incoherently. In contrast, the in-plane and polar MOKE measurements reveal that the magnetic easy axis of the FeAl dots exists along the out-of-plane direction and the coercive force Hc shows as large as 1 kOe. These results indicate that the nanosecond pulsed laser irradiation can be expected to serve as a useful tool for obtaining magnetic nanostructures and creating high-Hc materials. - Nanosecond pulsed laser induced self-organized nano-dots patterns on GaSb surface

Bio-photoelectrochemical (Bio-PEC) cells have much attention due to their ability to convert solar energy and wastewater energy into electrical or chemical energy. To develop Bio-PECs, three-dimensional heterostructures ZnO/CuO NFRs, ZnO nanorods (NRs) on CuO nanowire (NWs) (ZnO@CuO) with high photoelectrochemical performance were successfully synthesized via thermal oxidation and followed by UV irradiation in pure water at ambient temperature and pressure. The longer UV irradiation time significantly improved the photocurrent generation due to the higher light absorption, larger BET specific surface area, and lower charge recombination opportunity. However, ZnO sputtering was not necessarily. The obtained photocurrent density was about three times higher than the previously reported values for ZnO/CuO composites with a similar three-dimensional nanostructure.

Grain boundary engineering (GBE) was applied to 9-12Cr heat-resistant ferritic steels with lath-martensite for achieving enhanced environmental durability. We could observably increase the fraction of coincidence site lattice (CSL) boundaries along the prior austenitic boundaries in martensite through a new processing route with a combination of thermomechanical treatment and martensitic transformation. In addition, the GBE could introduce a high density of subblock structure in martensite, which resulted in a homogeneous distribution of fine M23C6 precipitates in tempered martensite. These GBEed ferricitc steels showed superior resistances against high temperature creep, steam oxidation and liquid metal corrosion.

Observations of internal fatigue cracks in Ti alloy were made by using synchrotron radiation micro CT imaging in the large synchrotron radiation facility (SPring-8) .Uniaxial fatigue tests were repeated on the specimen over 1.0E7 cycles, and the growth of the internal fatigue crack was measured by micro CT imaging. To investigate the effects of the environment around internal fatigue crack on crack growth process, the relationship between da/dN and stress intensity factor range were compared with that of surface cracks in vacuum environment. As a result, internal fatigue crack propagated quite slowly at a rate below 1.0E-10m/cycle. However, the fatigue crack advanced rapidly at a rate of around 1.0E-7m/cycle after reaching at the surface of specimen. Crack growth rate of internal crack agreed quite well with that of surface crack in vacuum. Therefore, vacuum-like environment around internal crack has an important role of fatigue crack process in the very high cycle regime.

本研究では, 液中陰極グロー放電による弱電離プラズマ中を流れる電流が陰極材料を母材とするナノ粒子を作り出すメカニズムを解明することを最終目的としている。
平成24年度は放電時の電流ノイズを高時間分解で計測でき同時に電極近傍の発光を画像記録できる実験システムを整備した上で, 先ず電流ノイズの高時間分解データを取得し, 電流ノイズの頻度分布解析・パワースペクトル解析を行った。次に電流測定と同時に液中プラズマ画像を得て画像輝度の時間変化に対するスペクトル解析を行った。さらに, 陰極上に残された放電痕の電子顕微鏡像に対し、画像解析, パワースペクトル解析を行った。
その結果,パワースペクトル密度のべき乗数αは電気分解領域ではほぼ0で, 電極表面の液相が気相に変わる遷移域では急激に減少し0から-2へと変化すること, またプラズマ領域では-2に近い値を保持することが判った。則ち, 両極間に印加する電圧の上昇と共に陰極周囲の物質相が液相から気相へ更に弱電離プラズマ相へと変わる過程を電流変動成分のスペクトル解析からべき乗数αを用いて統一的に表現可能なことを明らかにした。画像輝度と電流との同時測定からは,両者のパワースペクトル密度が周波数に対し同じべき乗依存性をもつことがわかった。
また,陰極表面に残された放電痕画像のパワースペクトル解析から放電痕分布が等方的であること,パワースペクトル密度が波数のべき乗(-2乗)分布をもつこと、および放電痕サイズ分布を対数プロットしたグラフから放電痕数がサイズのべき乗(-2乗)分布を持つことを確認した。これらの結果はナノ粒子が産み出される機構が間欠的なアバランシェ放電ないし電流集中に起因するも全体的には時空間にわたる自己相似性を有することを示唆するものであり, 今後より高範囲・高精度な測定による検証が行われる必要がある。

With respect to nanoballs (spherical particles of nanometer size) of stainless steel alloy,the basic technology for making nanoballs by using the liquid glow discharge method,which had been developed by applicants, was upgraded. In particular, we enabled tohandle the particle size distribution of nanoballs, by changing applied voltage,magnetic field strength and electrolytic solution. Thus, it became possible to obtain astainless steel alloy nanoball with the world's smallest diameter of 2 ~ 3nm.Furthermore, we found this stainless steel alloy nanoball has a photocatalytic effectexpected for practical applications to a wide variety of devices.

In this study, we carried out the development of in-situ observation experimental apparatus on nano spatiotemporal dynamics to combine the streak camera which had many successful results of the measurements in pico second phenomena on the laser inertial confinement fusion reaction at the target region of the fuel pellets and the various high speed CCD cameras in order to find out a solution of the only remaining issues to improve the temporal resolution and extend the recording time in TEM for three years from FY2009 to FY2011. We installed the newly developed experimental apparatus to our present TEM and investigate the crack initiation point or the multi crack propagation at the interface of the joint under electron irradiation and ion irradiation by recording in nano spatiotemporal resolution where so far it has not been done by us, and revealed the interaction between the multi crack paths which grew in high speed and nano sized defects.

Submerged glow-discharge plasma has been researched as a method of nanoparticles (nanoballs) synthesis method. We discovered the formation of metallic nanoballs during plasma electrolysis in 2007. The product that was obtained from the electrolyte plasma electrolysis was found to be uniformly-shaped spherical nanoballs. In this research, we investigate possible applications of the method to functional devise fabrication.

The material in a high energy intense proton beam field receives damage due to an intense thermal shock and radiation. A shock damage process and influence were investigated experimentally and the easing method was drawn. Moreover, the simulation code which evaluates a radiation trauma theoretically was developed. Furthermore, our grain boundary engineering method has succeeded the four times increase in corrosion resistivity of various austenite stainless steels. New tungsten material developed with a ultra-fine grain powder has four times higher toughness than that of commercial tungsten and does ductility even at a room temperature. The quantitative method using the stress luminescence material in a shock experiment was devised to improve a material dynamics study.

It was found that a proper microstructure composed of Nb and Nb_5Si_3 was obtained by heat treatment of an Nb-18.1Si-1.5Zr alloy uni-directionally solidified with a rate as high as 1500mm/h. Three-dimensional imaging revealed that large Nb grains are formed through the above-mentioned technique. The alloy shows a room temperature compressive ductility of about 2% and the propagation of cracks in brittle Nb_5Si_3 phase is suppressed by surrounding ductile Nb. Ta addition is required to keep the phase transformation route for the microstructure control with addition of Mo and W for strengthening Nb phase which governs the high temperature deformation behavior.

TiNi shape memory alloy has been used in diverse areas of applications. Recently the application is expanding in the field of medical devices such as guide wires and stents due to the development of minimally invasive surgery. It is also know that the TiNi undergoes crystalline-to-amorphous transformation by severe plastic deformations. In the present investigation, the process of amorphization/nanocrystallization by various methods of severe plastic deformation, including cold rolling, high pressure torsion and shot peening, was investigated by TEM observations.
It was revealed that the B19' martensite reverts to B2 phase by plastic deformation and it transformed to amorphous by further deformation. Peculiar lamellar structures composed of alternative layers of amorphous and B2 crystalline phase. It was also found that the B2 layers on both sides of amorphous layers possess the almost identical crystallographic orientation. This indicates that the defect accumulation at the variant boundaries is responsible for the amorphization.
For comparison, Zr-Cu alloys with various compositions were deformed by HPT. Only Zr_<50>Cu_<50> exhibited amorphization. The alloy was in B19' phase and has the fine martensitic twin structure before deformation. Thus it can be inferred that the fine twin structure promotes the accumulation of dislocations and invoke amorphization.

The present work has been performed to develop intelligent materials which have strong resistance to both beam impact (or shock-wave) and radiation damage. They are required for the beam target of an intense accelerator and space applications. Main results are as follows : (1)For the tungsten target, radiation-resistant, ultra-fine grained tungsten materials was successfully developed with a mechanical alloying method, dispersing TiC into tungsten. (2)The GBE (grain boundary engineering) controlled stainless steels were developed for the purpose to overcome an inter-granular corrosion which occurs in a heat affected zone of a weld material. (3)As a coating technique for tungsten target, CrN film formation with the molten salt method has been attained to be several micro-meter thickness. (4)For liquid mercury target, synergistic effect of C and N plasma surface treatment to suppress pitting damage was prominent. High-speed camera clarified bubble behavior near mercury/glass window surface and gave a clue of pitting problem. (5)To space application, we developed the tough AIN-TiN composite material and the intelligent material composed of niobium and aluminum that has an intelligence to stop propagation of micro-cracks created by debris attack. (7)Rapid cooling test of tantalum-clad tungsten plate fabricated with the HIP method for MW-class spallation target showed that the plate was not broken and will be endurable even in case of loss-of-coolant accident. (8)Positron lifetime measurement clarified no effect of GBE to defect formation, and did irradiation effects. (9)Post irradiation experiments for STIP-II samples which had been irradiated at the spallation target of the SINQ facility at Paul Scherrer Institut showed that the JPCA, stainless steel (SS) produced in Japan had elongation above 3 dpa, while the SS-316 irradiated at LANSCE lost elongation above 3 dpa. Future tasks are to collect more experimental data of damages, to progress a theoretical investigations and develop the simulation code system, and to develop essentially strong materials.

Temporal nanostructural fluctuations brought about by transient, metastable atom-cluster formation during radiation-induced amorphizing transformation in the intermetallic compound NiTi, observed using a combination of high-resolution high-voltage electron microscopy and molecular dynamics simulations, were characterized in terms of power-law responses of nonequilibrium, energy-dissipative systems. Within the framework of the multi-Lorentzian picture, the resultant power law also describes the multirelaxation time (i.e., cluster lifetime) distribution. In addition, a unified relation for the autocorrelation functions for such fluctuation phenomena was newly proposed.

イオンビームを水素吸蔵合金の表面改質に利用した場合、結晶構造の変化、多量の格子欠陥、注入された水素による水素化物の核形成などが期待され、さらには種々の溶質元素をミキシングすることによって、新しい機能を持った合金開発の可能性がある。本研究ではイオン注入やイオンミキシングにより、長寿命化(耐劣化や耐被毒)および活性化の制御などを目指した表面ナノ構造の改質を行うことを目的とした。
(1)ZrCoおよびZrNi:高温顕微鏡によるその場観察(水素圧1atm、反応温度150℃に200℃)を使用し、水素物形成過程の定量化を試みた。(1)ZrCo:ZrCoでは水素イオン注入による水素化物の成長促進の効果が認められなかった。イオンミキシングの効果については、溶質元素をCoにした場合に顕著であり、成長速度は2倍から3倍に増加することができた。水素化物形成に必要な活性化エネルギーは、未処理の場合が40kJ/mol、イオンミキシングの場合が20〜30kJ/mol程度となった。(2)ZrNi:ZrNiは水素イオン注入をしなければ、水素化が起こらない。イオン注入量が1X1016H2+/cm^2の場合、成長速度が大きくまた水素化開始までの潜伏期も大幅に短くなった。
(2)TiFe:TiFeは未処理の場合、反応温度400℃、水素圧10MPaにおいても水素化が起こらない。しかし、水素イオン注入(3.6X1016H2+/cm^2)の場合7MPa、アルゴンイオン注入(5X1015Ar+/cm^2)の場合5MPa程度から水素化が開始する。また、LaNi5を溶質としたイオンミキシングを行うと、1X1015Ar+/cm^2では、水素圧1MPaで水素化が起こることがわかった。以上の結果から、イオン注入およびイオンミキジングによる初期水素化挙動に対する効果は、広範に認められることが明らかとなった。

オーステナイト系ステンレス鋼における照射誘起偏析の速度論による定量化・モデリング照射誘起粒界偏析および促進拡散に関し速度論によるモデル化をおこない、定量化に成功した。照射誘起の粒界応答反応、特に照射誘起による偏析が粒界性質(方位とS値)によってどの様に依存性を調べることができ、傾角粒界の場合には明確な依存性があることを確認した。また、粒界性格を境界条件として取り入れた速度論による定量化にも成功した。照射誘起粒界応答反応の粒界性質依存性の実験的確認と定量化モデリングに成功することができた。これらの研究成果をふまえ今後は、各種合金(オーステナイトステンレス鋼、フェライト鋼、ODSフェライト鋼、および結合形式の異なる化合物系合金)における非平衡粒界応答効果に関して電子線照射その場観察実験を行い原子レベルの欠陥形成初期過程から巨視的現象(本研究では数マイクロメータ程度を対象とする)に至るまでの現象の総合的解明を行う。現在まで行ってきた速度論手法はそのままでは原子レベルの実験解析には不向きであるため、離散型の計算手法を取り込みこれと速度論を結合させ、原子レベルから巨視的レベルまでの空間的・時間的マルチスケーリングモデリングによる総合的定量化支援プログラミングを行なう。原子レベルから巨視的レベルまでの空間的・時間的マルチスケーリングモデリングによる総合的定量化支援プログラミングを行なう。当該研究は従来型の照射効果の研究に対して、原子レベル動的観察、マルチスケーリングによる定量化といった新たな視点からの息吹を注入するものであり、非平衡粒界挙動を利用した材料創製に貢献するところ大であると考えられる。

水素吸蔵合金の水素化特性を改善する新しい試みとして,イオン注入による表層改質を実施した。吸蔵合金にイオン注入を適用した場合,(1)スパッタリングによる表層清浄化,(2)任意元素の非平衡濃度注入,(3)多量の格子欠陥による拡散促進などの効果が期待できる。本研究の目的は,水素化特性に及ぼすイオン注入の影響を調査し,表層ナノ構造との関係を明確にすることである。
今年度は,ZrNiの初期活性化について検討した。試料にイオン注入領域と未注入領域を形成し,試料表面の水素化による変化を観察した。また,表層ナノ構造はTEMにより観察した。イオン注入は,水素,ヘリウム,アルゴンイオンを100keV,室温にて行い,注入量を5X10^<15>〜1X10^<17>ions/cm^2とした。
1.水素イオン注入の影響:注入領域において多数のクラックの発生が見られ,クラックは未注入領域との境界付近で進行が止まった。すなわち,水素イオン注入は合金の初期活性化を明確に促進することが判明した。その原因は,表面近傍において非平衡に濃化した水素が水素化物を形成したため,水素の拡散が促進したものと考えている。2.アルゴンイオン注入の影響二水素イオン注入とは逆に,初期活性を明確に抑制することが判明した。TEM観察から,注入したアルゴンはバブルを形成していない。そのため,表面近傍で高濃度に分散された状態であることが推察される。すなわち,分散したアルゴンが水素の拡散パスを塞いだことが原因であると考えている。3.ヘリウムイオン注入の影響:水素及びアルゴンイオン注入のような明確な影響が現れなかった。しかし,現在の条件より注入量を増加させると,アルゴンと同様な現象が起こると推定できる。
今後は,イオンミキシングを使った合金改質に進展する予定である。

1. When 316 stainless steel was electron-irradiated, stacking fault dislocation loops were nucleated, and then finally stacking fault tetrahedra of vacancy type (SFT) were nucleated inside the loops. These SFTs acted as void nucleation sites under electron/He dual irradiation.
2. Fe-(15-16)% Cr-16% Mn-O.2% C-O.2% N steels have yield stress of 400 MPa and the elongation of 60% at room temperature. These high Mn steels showed excellent irradiation-resistance under irradiation.
3. When Fe-Cr-Mn(W,V) steels with W and V were irradiated, no segregation was recognized, and then it was suggested that by adding W, and V segregation is retarded.
4. The same Fe-Cr-Mn containing W and V showed higher resistance for irradiation at
625K but at higher temperature a lot of small voids were nucleated.
5. In Fe-Cr-Mn steels the segregation at grain boundary was larger than the steel with W and V.
6.lt was clarified for Fe-(13-16) Cr-(6.5-24.5) Mn-(0.02-0.2)C-0.2 N steels that (a) by contorolling the composition of Cr, C,N single phase of austenite can be obtained even for lower Mn concentration steels, (b)Fe-(15-16)wt% Cr-15.5wt% Mn-(O.02-O.2)wt% C-0.2wt% N steels have excellent mechanical properties, and (c) voids formation were perfectly retarded for Fe-l6wt% Cr-15.5wt% Mn-O.2wt% C-O.2wt% N steel under irradiation at 473-673K.

1) Joining of MoSi_2/graphite : Interfacial reaction between MoSi_2 siliside and graphite in joining processes using a spark plasma sintering equipment was studied, in order to improve the ultra-high temperature resistance. The formation of SiC layr was perfectly suppressed by interposing a titanium foil between MoSi_2 and graphite, and the high strength was achieved by this joining process.
2) Structural change under ion-implantation and the control of Interface : Interfaces such as grain boundary and the surface structures in seramics, semiconductors and steels were studied under ion-implating processes. During ion-implanting the secondary defects were formed, and especially Al_2O_3 was amorphized in the process of mixing from boundary due to increasing dose of ion-implantation.
3) Interfacial structure control between Mo/Si mateials : Diffusions of Mo and Si were enhanced by point defects produced during ion-implantation. Due to this enhanced diffusion the possibility of joining at lower temperature was found.
4) Interfacial structures at Si/Oxide film and defect structure near the interface : Stress generated at interface between oxide and Si accerelates the point defects flow towards the interface and from this it is suggested that the preferential flow of point defects makes relaxation at interfacial stress.
From these results joining at lower temperature is possible by using ion-implantation method, furthermore by combining the a sark plasma sintering the possibility of joining for special alloy system was suggested.

In order to obtain the fundamental data on the development of fusion reactor structural materials, Fe-Cr-Mn austenitic steel, modified 316 Stainless steels, ferritic steels and vanadium alloys were irradiated by neutrons, electrons and/or ions irradiations. Furtheremore the model alloys related these alloys were also irradiated. From these experimentals facts the following results and suggetion were obtained :
(1) The modified 316 stainless steel showed lower swelling, and it is expected that these steels are lower radio-activated at lower dose of 30dpa. Therefore, the modified 316 stainless steels could be used as fusion react-or marerials for shorter periods.
(2) Phase stability of low activated Fe-Cr-Mn steels was lower at temperature of above 500゚C.Therefore, when this type of steels are used for fusion reactor, it is aveirable as buck-up materials of structure components at lower temperature below 200゚C.
(3) Instead of austenitic steels, the low activated Fe-(9-12)Cr based ferritic steels will be available for DEMO after ITER.However, there is still psome problems to be resolved, that is embrittlement due to helium introduced as a result of transmutation.
(4) Future materials for fusion reactor, vanadium alloys are expected, because of the well characteristics of this alloy for radio-activation, the resistance against irradiation and high temperature strength. At present the alloy of V-4Cr-Ti based alloys can be recommended, but these alloys are very sensitive for interstitial impurities such as oxygen and hydrogen. Therefore, if the alloys will be used as first wall materials, the effect of the impurities should be avoided.
(5) As the alloy development for long periods, other new matreials such as SiC and intermetallic coumpound will be needed.

高速増殖炉、軽水炉などの核分裂型原子炉や、将来実用化が期待される核融合炉における照射損傷は、炉材料の使用にあたり主要な問題点である。特に相安定性に関わる照射誘起偏析現象は、結晶粒界の溶質の偏析を通して照射脆化に結び付き、またボイド表面での偏析、母相での溶質濃度の変化からボイド形成に影響する可能性が指摘されている。現在までいくつかの偏析モデルが提唱されてきたが、実用材料を念頭とした照射研究に応用された例は少ない。本研究では計算コードを開発し、ステンレス鋼の粒界近傍における過剰点欠陥の容質拡散として照射誘起偏析の定量的予測を行なった。具体的には、本研究室所有の超電圧電子顕微鏡による1MeV電子線照射をおこない材料中(Fe-Cr-Ni)の2次欠陥の密度測定、粒界近傍の濃度分布分析、拡散係数等必要な物性値を見積もる。i)拡散方程式による計算照射下での連立した拡散方程式をたて、これを解くことにより各場所での元素の濃度の経時変化を調べる。この時各元素とさらに点欠陥(原子空孔と格子間原子)の濃度も併せて調べる。非線形の連立微分方程式を数値計算により解く。(逆)カ-ケンドール効果を取り入れた連立速度式によりFe-Cr-Ni合金の粒界近傍での照射誘起偏析のモデル計算を行った。本計算結果は超高圧電子顕微鏡(1MeV)を用いたシュミレーション実験より得られた照射量、温度、損傷速度の変化に伴う誘起偏析の変化と、濃度分布を概ね説明している。中性子照射などの高エネルギー粒子による照射でも、照射誘起偏析によりステンレス鋼の粒子近傍(<〜10^<-1>μm)でNiの濃度とCrの枯渇が起こると考えられる。より確実な相関則を得るためには,実験等による各種パラメータの確認が必要であることを明らかにした。
