    Currently, in the construction sector, the shortage of veteran engineers responsible for transferring skills and young engineers acquiring new technologies has become a critical issue. In the bridge construction field, concerns regarding the decline in technical expertise are also growing. This study investigates changes in the skill levels of general contractors and subcontractors, focusing on engineers working in local construction companies while considering historical contexts.The findings indicate that, following the significant reduction in public works projects by the government in the 2000s, technology transfer during the 11-year period of public works decline exhibited distinct characteristics for both general contractors and subcontractors compared to the preceding and subsequent decades.This study conducts a causal analysis of the frequency of technology transfer and skill levels, examines historical comparisons of bridge technology transfer patterns in local construction companies, and organizes future research topics., Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Japanese

  • EFFECTS OF DUMP TRUCK OPERATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR SAND TRANSPORTATION IN TERMS OF SAFETY MEASURES AND EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS

    General National Highway No. 337, Doo-area connecting road between Naganuma and Ebetsu, up to 1,360 dump trucks per month were transporting construction materials at peak times, causing traffic congestion and long queues on the transport routes and at the deposition sites. This posed a significant challenge in addressing complaints from drivers and nearby residents. To solve this problem, the Dump Truck Operation Management System "MeDDel" was adopted to manage the entire process from order receipt to loading of soil and sand on the cloud, making it possible to establish efficient loading schedules. Moreover, the introduction of license plate recognition cameras helped improve driver awareness and driving manners, leading to significant improvements in addressing the issue.
