English, Scientific journal, The genus Neotrogaspidia Lelej, 1996 is a small group of velvet ants with five species from the Australasian, Oriental and Palearctic Regions. The type species, N. pustulata (Smith, 1873) (♂♀), is the only Northeast Asian species known at present. In this paper, N. elpinice (Mickel, 1933), stat. resurr. et comb. nov. (♂♀) is resurrected from the junior synonym of N. pustulata. Two new combinations are proposed for N. circumcincta (André, 1896), comb. nov. (♂♀) from Orientidia Lelej, 1996 and N. recticarinata (Chen, 1957), comb. nov. (♂) from Trogaspidia Ashmead, 1899. New synonymies are proposed for N. elpinice with T. aestivalis Hammer, 1949, syn. nov. and T. maritima Chen, 1957, syn. nov., and N. circumcincta with T. yuliensis Tsuneki, 1972, syn. nov. and Krombeinidia agricola Williams, 2019, syn. nov. An updated genus diagnosis and a key to all described species are provided. New records include N. circumcincta from Laos and Vietnam, N. pustulata from North Korea, and N. recticarinata from Taiwan. The inflated endophallus of the male genitalia of N. pustulata is illustrated. A potential host record, habitat records and mating observations of Neotrogaspidia are presented. The historical process of formation of the distributional patterns of this genus in Northeast Asia is discussed. - Review of the tribe Mutillini (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae) from the Oriental Region

Zootaxa, 5228, 4, 455, 476, Magnolia Press, 16 Jan. 2023, [Peer-reviewed], [Internationally co-authored]
English, Scientific journal, The species in the tribe Mutillini (Mutillidae: Mutillinae) sensu Waldren et al. (2022, in press) of the Oriental region are reviewed. Fourteen species in the genera Kurzenkotilla Lelej, 2005, Mutilla Linnaeus, 1758, Standfussidia Lelej, 2005, and Storozhenkotilla Lelej, 2005 are keyed, reviewed, and illustrated. The males of the genus Kurzenkotilla are described and associated with the females. One new species: Storozhenkotilla nathani Lelej, sp. nov., male is described from India (Karnataka and Kerala). New combinations are proposed for Kurzenkotilla harmandi (André, 1898), comb. nov., K. rufodorsata (Cameron, 1897), comb. nov., K. semiviolacea (André, 1896), comb. nov., K. cicatricifera (André, 1894), comb. nov., and Storozhenkotilla binghami (Lelej, 2005), comb. nov. Six new country records are presented: Kurzenkotilla niveosignata (André, 1894) from Pakistan, K. annamensis Lelej, 2005 from Thailand, K. visrara (Cameron, 1898) from India, K. scrobiculata (Hammer, 1962) from Nepal, K. rufodorsata (Cameron, 1897) from Nepal, and Storozhenkotilla binghami Lelej, 2005 from Sri Lanka. Specimens of Mutilla mikado Cameron, 1900 from China were misidentified as Mutilla europaea by Su et al. (2019), and we recognize M. mikado as the sole member of the genus Mutilla to occur in the Oriental region. A key to the species of Oriental Mutillini is provided. - Remarkable range extension of the genus Nordeniella Lelej, 2005 (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae: Smicromyrmini): Description of a new species from Sumbawa, Indonesia
Juriya Okayasu
Journal of Insect Biodiversity, 32, 2, 56, 63, Magnolia Press, 08 Jul. 2022, [Peer-reviewed], [Lead author, Last author, Corresponding author], [International Magazine]
English, Scientific journal, The genus Nordeniella Lelej, 2005 had been known from India and Sri Lanka. Recently, this genus was discovered from Southern Thailand in 2019. A new species N. sumbawaensis Okayasu sp. nov. (♀) is described from Sumbawa, extending the geographical range of Nordeniella beyond Wallace Line. This new species is most similar to the Thai species N. maleeae Williams in Williams et al., 2019, but can be separated based on morphology. The occurrence of Nordeniella in an Indonesian island suggests wider distribution of this genus in the eastern Oriental Region. - Review of female Andreimyrme Lelej (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae: Smicromyrmini)

Journal of Hymenoptera Research, 84, 145, 168, Pensoft Publishers, 24 Aug. 2021, [Peer-reviewed], [Lead author, Last author, Corresponding author], [International Magazine]
English, Scientific journal, A new Old World genus in the tribe Trogaspidiini Bischoff, 1920, Arkaditilla gen. nov., is described based on male morphology. Six species are recognized in this genus: A. bagrada (Cameron, 1902), comb. nov. (Indonesia, Malaysia), A. depressicornis (Mickel, 1935), comb. nov. (Malaysia), A. frim sp. nov. (Malaysia), A. gibba sp. nov. (Indonesia), A. leleji sp. nov. (Indonesia), and A. nallinia (Zavattari, 1914), comb. nov. (Indonesia). The species of this new genus were formerly placed in the genus Krombeinidia Lelej, 1996, but they are differentiated from it and other genera by having a unique set of morphological character states, such as the mandible inner margin expanded, forming subbasal tooth; the paramere antero-ventrally serrate; and the digitus dorsal margin lamellate. A key to species of Arkaditilla is provided. - Review of Eotrogaspidia Lelej (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae: Trogaspidiini)

English, Scientific journal, Ten species of Eotrogaspidia Lelej, 1996, two related species of Trogaspidia Ashmead, 1899 and one related species of Vanhartenidia Lelej in Lelej & van Harten, 2006 are revised. Before this study, Eotrogaspidia included the following four species: E. amans (André, 1909) (♂♀), E. auroguttata (Smith, 1855) (♂♀), E. ekka (Nurse, 1902) (♀) and E. oryzae (Pagden, 1934) (♂♀). In the present paper, four new species are described: E. adhabar sp. nov. (♂) (India, Nepal), E. buddha sp. nov. (♂♀) (India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka), E. hauseri sp. nov. (♂) (India, Nepal) and E. melanopleura sp. nov. (♀) (China). Three species are transferred to Eotrogaspidia from Trogaspidia: E. lena (Cameron, 1899), comb. nov. (♂), E. rubripes (André, 1901), comb. nov. (♀) and E. saussurei (Lelej, 2005), comb. nov. (♂♀). Mutilla ekka Nurse, 1902 from India is transferred from Eotrogaspidia to Vanhartenidia ekka, comb. nov. The male of E. saussurei is described. New synonymies are proposed for E. auroguttata (= T. vallicola Tsuneki, 1993, syn. nov.) and Trogaspidia mackieae (Cockerell, 1928) (= T. pacifica Tsuneki, 1972, syn. nov.). Eight new country records are presented: one from China, two from Laos, one from Vietnam, two from India, one from Iran, and one from Afghanistan. Female specimens of E. buddha sp. nov. were formerly misidentified as T. acidalia (Cameron, 1897), stat. resurr. by the late B. Petersen. The lectotype of T. acidalia is designated and illustrated to clarify its identity. Diagnoses and illustrations for reviewed species and a key to all known Eotrogaspidia species and related genera are provided for males and females. - Discovery of an exotic grasshopper Atractomorpha sinensis sinensis Bolívar, 1905 from Shikoku, Japan through citizen science monitoring

English, Scientific journal, Japanese species and genera of the tribe Smicromyrmini Bischoff, 1920 are revised. Most of the relevant types were examined. The following eight species in the genera Smicromyrme Thomson, 1870, Nemka Lelej, 1985, Mickelomyrme Lelej, 1995, Andreimyrme Lelej, 1995, Ephucilla Lelej, 1995 and Sinotilla Lelej, 1995 are recognized from Japan: Sm. lewisi Mickel, 1935, ♂♀; N. yasumatsui (Mickel, 1936), stat. rev. et comb. nov., ♂♀; M. hageni (Zavattari, 1913), ♂♀; A. substriolata (Chen, 1957), ♀ (Amami-ôshima Is., Okinawa-jima Is.); E. yoshitakei sp. nov., ♂♀ (Amami-ôshima Is.), E. suginoi sp. nov., ♂♀ (Okinawa-jima Is.), E. brevitegula sp. nov., ♂♀ (Ishigaki-jima Is., Iriomote-jima Is.); Si. jambar sp. nov., ♂ (Okinawa-jima Is.). The genera Andreimyrme and Sinotilla are newly recorded from Japan. Nemka wotani (Zavattari, 1913) and Ephucilla naja (Zavattari, 1913) are excluded from the Japanese fauna. New synonymies are proposed for N. wotani (Zavattari, 1913) [=Smicromyrme chihpenchia Tsuneki, 1993, syn. nov.], N. limi limi (Chen, 1957) [=Smicromyrme limi nanhai Chen, 1957, syn. nov.], A. substriolata [=Smicromyrme tridentiens Chen, 1957, syn. nov.] and Neotrogaspidia pustulata (Smith, 1873) [=Smicromyrme yakushimensis Yasumatsu, 1934, syn. nov.]. Phimenes flavopictus formosanus (Zimmermann, 1931) (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Eumeninae) is recorded as a host of Ephucilla brevitegula. Other new records include: Mickelomyrme athalia (Pagden, 1934) from China (Guangdong, Fujian, Yunnan) and Vietnam (Hoa Binh), M. bakeri (Mickel, 1934) from Malaysia (Borneo) and Indonesia (Sulawesi), M. pusillaeformis (Hammer, 1962) from Indonesia (Bali), Andreimyrme sarawakensis Lelej, 1996 from Peninsular Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and A. substriolata from Laos (Xiengkhouang, Houapanh), Thailand (Chiang Mai), Peninsular Malaysia (Kuala Terengganu) and Indonesia (Sumatra). Distributions of Japanese smicromyrmine species are classified into the following three patterns: Asian continental-Palaearctic Japan (Sm. lewisi and N. yasumatsui), Taiwan-Ryûkyû (M. hageni, E. yoshitakei, E. suginoi, E. brevitegula, Si. jambar) and Asian continental-Ryûkyû (A. substriolata). Species of Asian continental-Palaearctic Japan are widely distributed in Palaearctic part of Japan and eastern part of Eurasia, or have the closest relative in continental Asia. They are considered to be native to Japan since it was a part of Eurasia, or have immigrated to Japan through the land bridge between Korean Peninsula and Japan by the end of the Upper Pleistocene. The Taiwan-Ryûkyû species are immigrants from Taiwan through the land bridge. The Asian continental-Ryûkyû species is presumed to have immigrated to Japan during the Upper Pleistocene when the eastern edge of Eurasian Continent was close to Amami-ôshima Is. - The female velvet ants (aka modkhong) of southern Thailand (Hymenoptera: Mutillidae), with a key to the genera of southeast Asia

English, Scientific journal, A review of female mutillids in southern Thailand is presented, based on literature, loaned material, and two field expeditions. Thirty-three species in 23 genera have been previously recorded from Thailand (Lelej 2005; Lelej et al. 2016, 2017; Okayasu et al. 2018). In March and April 2017, 337 female specimens were collected in the provinces of Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, and Trang. In May 2018, 255 female specimens were collected in the provinces of Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi, and Surat Thani. These collected specimens were sorted into 38 morphospecies: 13 already known from Thailand, nine previously described species newly recorded from Thailand, and 16 new to science and described here. Based on loaned material, three more described species were newly recorded from southern Thailand and one more undescribed species was found. Keys to females of the 31 mutillid genera found in southeast Asia and 42 mutillid species studied from southern Thailand are provided. Illustrations and diagnoses are provided for each species studied in southern Thailand, including the following 17 new species: Bischoffitilla tokay Williams, Bischoffitilla cambrai Williams, Mickelomyrme puttasoki Williams, Mickelomyrme kinguri Williams, Nordeniella maleeae Williams, Smicromyrme helarctos Williams, Smicromyrme borkenti Williams, Smicromyrme thaochani Williams, Krombeinidia agricola Williams, Krombeinidia chang Williams, Krombeinidia baanmaka Williams, Orientidia manleyi Williams, Orientidia thoawanae Williams, Petersenidia modkhong Williams, Petersenidia leleji Williams, Trogaspidia pittsi Williams, and Trogaspidia wilsoni Williams. Three new synonyms and one new combination are recognized: Bischoffitilla lamellata (Mickel, 1933) = Squamulotilla arundinacea Pagden, 1934, syn. nov., Mickelomyrme pusillaeformis (Hammer, 1962), comb. nov. = Mickelomyrme yunnanensis Lelej, 1996, syn. nov., Trogaspidia pagdeni (Mickel, 1933) = Timulla (Trogaspidia) pagdeni nodoa Mickel, 1933, syn. nov. Finally, two other taxa are raised to full species from subspecies status, Eotrogaspidia oryzae (Pagden, 1934), status resurr., and Trogaspidia lingnani (Mickel, 1933), status nov. New combination is also proposed for Krombeinidia meeungensis (Cockerell, 1928), comb. nov. Twenty-three new country records are presented: 12 from Thailand, four from Vietnam, four from Laos, two from Cambodia, and one from Indonesia. - First record of Hylomesa akitsushimana Terayama & Mita, 2015 from Korean Peninsula (Hymenoptera: Tiphiidae: Myzininae)
