Scientific journal, Solar‐light‐driven photocatalytic coproduction of hydrogen (H 2 ) and valuable organic compounds is a promising technique for realizing sustainable carbon neutral society. In this work, we fabricate a new dual‐product photocatalytic system for the coproduction of H 2 and acetaldehyde/acetone by combining a dual Ru (II) dye‐sensitized Pt‐cocatalyst‐loaded TiO 2 nanoparticles photocatalyst with a Pd(II)‐acetate/9‐azanoradamantane N‐oxyl (nor‐AZADO • ) double‐mediatory Wacker oxidation catalytic system. This photoredox cascade catalytic system successfully converts gaseous ethylene/propylene substrates into H 2 and acetaldehyde/acetone under blue‐light irradiation owing to the electron mediation of nor‐AZADO • between the two (photo)catalytic cycles. The maximum turnover number per one photosensitizer and apparent quantum yield for the initial 1 h of irradiation in the presence of 5.0 vol% ethylene gas are estimated to be 1533 and 1.23%, respectively. These findings open a new avenue for simultaneously supplying clean energy resources, H 2 and organic valuables via oxidative organic transformations. - Fabrication of MIP-201 membrane with excellent stability for high-efficiency uranium separation from seawater

Perchlorate (ClO4−) is a serious inorganic contaminant. This study demonstrated that the Zr-based metal–organic framework UiO-66, containing chloride-coordinated defect sites (Cl-D-UiO-66), has excellent perchlorate-removal properties. Compared with the commercially available anion-exchange resin Purolite A530E, Cl-D-UiO-66 participates in rapid perchlorate removal from water, associated with a maximum removal capacity of 0.55 mmol g−1. The mechanism for perchlorate removal by Cl-D-UiO-66 involves anion exchange between chloride and perchlorate, which competes with simultaneous anion exchange between chloride and bicarbonate. The treatment of recovered Cl-D-UiO-66 with a high concentration of aqueous NaCl solution causes deteriorated removal properties due to a decreased crystallinity. Breakthrough tests using an Cl-D-UiO-66-embedded filter demonstrated that perchlorate removal can be performed under continuous flow conditions, indicating its suitability for commercial-scale utilization. - Quasi-Reversible Water Vapochromism in a Pillared Layer Metal–Organic Framework Based on Cu(II) Nitrate and 4,4′-Bipyridine

Scientific journal, The photoirradiation to the Zn complex crystal having N‐(4‐pyridylmethylene)aniline (4‐pma) ligand with a central ‐C=N‐ bond led to no photodimerization reaction but only partial trans‐cis isomerization of 4‐pma. Flexible crystalline solids exhibit unique properties in response to external stimuli like heat and light. However, challenges exist in developing crystalline solids that have similar degrees of flexibility as in solution. Herein, we report the preparation of the new flexible crystalline metal complex [Cd(CF3SO3)2(4‐spy)4] (4‐spy=4‐styrylpyridine), which contains photoreactive 4‐spy ligand. Unlike traditional solids, this metal complex displays solution state‐like [2+2] photocycloaddition reactivity. Specifically, UV irradiation of the crystalline material leads to formation of the same diverse array of dimers and cis isomer that are generated by photoreaction in the solution state. In addition, the photoresponsive flexibility of the solid leads to a photosalient effect and photo‐induced formation of pores. The origin of the solution state‐like photoreactivity of the solid is related to properties of the Cd(II) cation and fluorinated CF3SO3 anion, and the multi‐orientational arrangement of the 4‐spy ligands. - Removal and complete combustion of 1,4-dioxane in water by a two-step reaction combining adsorption and catalytic combustion

The Zr metal–organic framework (MOF) UiO-66 was shaped into beads using chitosan and P3O105− as a cross-linker. The obtained UiO-66–chitosan beads showed decreases in pore size and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area but enhanced N2 adsorption energy with retention of Zr-ligand connectivity. The selective carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption properties of ionic liquids (ILs) are highly pertinent to the development of methods to capture CO2. Although it has been reported that fluorinated components give ILs enhanced CO2 solubilities, it has been challenging to gain a deep understanding of the interactions occurring between ILs and CO2. In this investigation, we have utilized the soft crystalline material [Cu(NTf2)2(bpp)2] (NTf2‒ = bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, bpp = 1,3-bis-(4-pyridyl)propane) as a surrogate for single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis to visualize interactions occurring between CO2 and NTf2‒, the fluorinated IL component that is responsible for high CO2 solubility. Analysis of the structure of a CO2-loaded crystal reveals that CO2 interacts with both fluorine and oxygen atoms of NTf2‒ anions in atrans rather thancis conformation about the S–N bond. Theoretical analysis of the structure of the CO2-loaded crystal indicates that dispersion and electrostatic interactions exist between CO2 and the framework. English, The design of inexpensive and less toxic porous coordination polymers (PCPs) that show selective adsorption or high adsorption capacity is a critical issue in research on applicable porous materials. Although use of Group II magnesium(II) and calcium(II) ions as building blocks could provide cheaper materials and lead to enhanced biocompatibility, examples of magnesium(II) and calcium(II) PCPs are extremely limited compared with commonly used transition metal ones, because neutral bridging ligands have not been available for magnesium(II) and calcium(II) ions. Here we report a rationally designed neutral and charge-polarized bridging ligand as a new partner for magnesium(II) and calcium(II) ions. The three-dimensional magnesium(II) and calcium(II) PCPs synthesized using such a neutral ligand are stable and show selective adsorption and separation of carbon dioxide over methane at ambient temperature. Scientific journal, A nonmagnetic Compound, [NO(2)BzPy][Au(mnt)(2)](NO(2)BzPy(+) = 1-(4'-nitrobenzyl)pyridinium; mnt(2-) = maleonitriledithiolate), was synthesized and characterized structurally, which is isostructural with [NO(2)BzPy][Ni(mnt)(2)] that is a quasi-one-dimensional magnet and possesses a spin-Peierls-like transition with J = 192 K in the gapless state and spin energy gap 738 K in the dimerization state, respectively. Further, ten nonmagnetic impurity doped compounds with a formula [NO(2)BzPy][Au(x)Ni(1-x)(mnt)(2)] (x = 0.01-0.73) were prepared and investigated by crystal structural determinations and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The nonmagnetic doping causes the suppression of the spin transition with an average rate of 221(12) K/percentage of dopant concentration. From the plots of chi(m)-T, the transition collapse (the characteristic of the transition is the sudden drop of upon cooling, and the disappearance of this characteristic is considered as the criterion for the transition collapse) is estimated at around x > 0.27. In heavier doped system x = 0.49, the spin gap vanishes and a gapless phase is achieved again. - Novel spin transition observed in two quasi-one-dimensional spin system based on [M(mnt)2](-) monoanion compounds (M = Ni or Pt; mnt(2-) = maleonitriledithiolate)

Development of new ionic materials showing a liquid-solid phase transition was carried out toward efficient carbon dioxide separation. The ionic liquid including bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide (NTf2) anions formed a variety of phases, crystal, liquid and amorphous. Next, the hybrid material of porous material and amorphous ionic material was prepared. The porous material itself showed adsorption for a variety of gases including carbon dioxide, while the hybrid material exhibited enhanced carbon dioxide adsorption selectivity.

Development of selective alkane gas adsorption materials was carried out toward efficient hydrocarbon separation. Based on the three-dimensional porous metal complex UiO-67 constructed from Zr cations and 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylate ligands, rigid perfluoroalkyl and flexible alkoxy groups were introduced to the ligands.Porous metal complex with perfluoroalkyl groups showed similar propane and propylene adsorption amounts. On the other hand, porous metal complex with alkoxy groups was found to show selective propane gas adsorption over propylene under low pressure condition.

Novel porous crystalline solid was synthesized by using ε-Keggin Mo-POM as synthetic unit. Resulting materials showed selective oxidation catalysis property and molecular oxygen activation on the basis of the elemental diversity, structural diversity, and redox dynamism.
Novel porous crystalline solid was synthesized by assembling metal oxide nano-wire formed with 1D chaining of 6-membered ring units. The material showed unique selective oxidation performance due to the electron transfer through the 1D chain. Novel porous crystalline solid was synthesized through unit synthesis of cuban-type unit of W oxides and V-linkers. The crystalline materials formed micro-channels and cages and therefore became one with high elemental exposure state. It was found that the materials showed extremely catalytically active for de-NOx reaction superior to existing catalysts.

Separation of CO_2 gas from gas mixtures has been a significant challenge in terms of environmental and resource issues. While zeolites show considerably higher selectivities, they still suffer from high recovery cost for their regeneration. In this study, high selectivity and low-energy regeneration for adsorption of CO_2 gas were achieved concurrently in a two-dimensional Cu(II) porous coordination polymer containing inorganic fluorinated PF_6^-. anions that act as moderate and selective interaction sites for CO_2 molecules.

有機薄膜トランジスタ(organic thin-film transistor (OTFT))は、シリコンを中心とする無機半導体をベースとした既存のトランジスタでは容易に実現できない優れた特徴(分子の多様性・機械的フレキシビリティー・シンプルな作成プロセス・大面積化・低温プロセス・ローコスト)を有するため次世代エレクトロニクス素子として注目されている。特に、論理回路や発光トランジスタへの応用を目指したアンバイポーラーOTFTの開発が近年精力的に行われてきた。しかしながら、p型・n型共に高移動度を示す単一成分アンバイポーラーTFT材料は限られている。優れたアンバイポーラー特性を示す半導体材料の設計指針を得るためには、新規半導体材料の系統的な開発研究が必要不可欠である。このような背景から、本研究ではHOMO 及びLUMO レベルを独立に精密制御できる混合配位子金属錯体を系統的に設計・合成し、大気中で安定にかつ高性能で作動する単一成分アンバイポーラーTFT デバイスの創製を目指した。金属錯体として長鎖アルキル基を導入した金属錯体半導体に着目し、溶融法・スピンコート法による薄膜作製及びTFT 特性について検討を行った。その結果、Pt イオンに長鎖アルキル基がついたビピリジン配位子及びo- キノン配位子が配位した金属錯体のスピンコート膜を用いたボトムコンタクト型デバイスにおいてP 型の半導体特性が観測され、その移動度は1.9 x 10-6 cm2/Vs であった。溶融膜は非常に膜質が悪かったが、スピンコート法を適用することよって膜質を向上させることに成功した。

有機薄膜トランジスタ(organic thin-film transistor(OTFT))は、シリコンを中心とする無機半導体をベースとした既存のトランジスタでは容易に実現できない優れた特徴(分子の多様性・機械的フレキシビリティー・シンプルな作成プロセス・大面積化・低温プロセス・ローコスト)を有するため次世代エレクトロニクス素子として注目されている。本研究では、高性能TFT特性(高移動度、アンバイポーラー特性)を示す分子性金属錯体半導体の探索及び長鎖アルキル・アルコキシル基導入に伴う(1)湿式及び溶融法による低環境負荷型TFTデバイスの作製及びその特性評価(2)多極小ポテンシャルを利用したTFTデバイスと熱相転移誘起スイッチングの複合機能材料の構築に関して検討を行った。その結果、以下のような成果を得た。(1)酸化還元両性配位子であるο-セミキノネートが配位した中性金属錯体が、ホール・電子共にバランスの取れた高移動度を示すことを証明した。観測された移動度は、過去に報告されている単一成分アンバイポーラー特性を示す半導体と比較してトップレベルの値を示した。(2)長鎖アルキル基を導入した金属錯体半導体のTFT特性について検討を行った。Ptイオンに長鎖アルキル基がついたビピリジン配位子及びο-キノン配位子が配位した金属錯体のアルキル鎖長依存性について検討を行った結果、C_<13>H_<27>の置換基を持った錯体ではp型の半導体特性が観測されたのに対し、C_9H_<19>の置換基を持った錯体ではTFT特性が全く観測されなかった。原因として、鎖長が短くなることによる薄膜構造の不安定化が示唆された。

有機薄膜トランジスタ(organic thin-film transistor(OTFT))は、シリコンを中心とする無機半導体をベースとした既存のトランジスタでは容易に実現できない優れた特徴(分子の多様性・機械的フレキシビリティー・シンプルな作成プロセス・大面積化・低温プロセス・ローコスト)を有するため次世代エレクトロニクス素子として注目されている。特に、論理回路や発光トランジスタへの応用を目指したアンバイポーラーOTFTの開発が近年精力的に行われてきた。しかしながら、p型・n型共に高移動度を示す単一成分アンバイポーラーTFT材料は限られている。優れたアンバイポーラー特性を示す半導体材料の設計指針を得るためには、新規半導体材料の系統的な開発研究が必要不可欠である。このような背景から、本研究ではこれまで報告例がほとんど無いラジカルジイミノベンゾセミキノネート配位子が配位した金属錯体をTFTデバイスの半導体材料として利用した。この錯体は、ラジカル配位子の酸化還元両性機能に由来した狭いバンドギャップ(〜0.8eV)を有するため、アンバイポーラー特性の発現が期待できる。デバイス構造の最適化を行った結果、絶縁層としてPMMA、ソース・ドレイン電極としてCaを用いたトップコンタクト型デバイスにおいてホール・電子両キャリアの注入・蓄積・輸送が起こるアンバイポーラーTFTの構築に成功した。その移動度はホールにおいて約10^<-3>cm^2/Vs、電子において約10^<-2>cm^2/Vsと非常に高い値を示し、本錯体が半導体材料として有用であることが証明された。
