This research project aims to investigate the political functions of funeral oration in Andre Malraux’s “Oraisons funebres” (1971). Our analysis of “Transfert des cendres de Jean Moulin au Pantheon” showed that Malraux, the first French Minister of Culture, created the myth of foundation of French Fifth Republic.

フランスの首都パリの第五区に位置する、パンテオンという共和国のモニュメントを社会と文学との関連で考察するのが本研究の目的である。昨年末サルコジ大統領は、死後50周年にあたる翌2010年に、作家アルベール・カミュの棺をパンテオンに移す希望を表明したが、反対・賛成ともに様々な議論を巻き起こし、結局カミュの親族の反対で実現しなかった。これは、パンテオンという共和国のモニュメントと作家の遺族というプライベートな側面との関係を考えるうえで興味深い事件であった。そのカミュに関して、12月26日に「恩赦と恩寵-カミュに於ける《grace》の問題」というタイトルで口頭発表を行い、それにもとづく論文を『カミュ研究』第9号(2010年5月刊行)に掲載する。これは、神学的「恩寵」と世俗的「恩赦」という意味をもつ《grace》の概念を中心にカミュの作品を論じたものである。また丸善から刊行が予定されている『フランス文化事典』に於いて「パンテオンと文学者」の項目を担当する予定である。なお本年度も、専門家を北海道大学に招いてふたつの講演会を開催した。山上浩嗣氏(関西学院大学)による講演「パスカルにおける病と身体」(10月30日)は、キリスト教護教論を構想したパスカルに関するものであるが、対比的に、反キリスト教である「革命」に由来するパンテオンの問題を考察するうえで有意義なものであった。田中琢三氏(フェリス...

キリスト教が社会と文化の基底を形作ってきたフランスにおいて、宗教と文学のあいだに存在した相互交渉の諸相を把握し、それを通じてキリスト教と文学の双方がどのように変容を遂げていったかを、それぞれの時代とジャンルに即して検討した.関係の歴史的変遷を通時的に見通すところまでは行かなかったが、いくつかのテーマ(理神論、オリエンタリズム)と何人かの作家(パスカル、ロベール・シャール、ヴォルテール、ネルヴァル、ランボー、カミュ、ル・クレジオ)については相当の成果を得た.

The purpose of this research on the subject of "Artistic and Literary Representations of Sacred Spaces - From New Classicism to Romanticism" is to describe France's spiritual atmosphere in the 19^ century. Its focus is on mid-18^ century to early 19^ century France, and especially on such Parisian landmarks as the pantheon and the Madeleine temple, which host paintings and sculptures forming an internal space, as well as on external spaces such as the gardens that are located in the vicinity of major monuments. カミュによる近代史解釈の再検討--テロルの歴史

最終年度である本年は、主として、以下のふたつの論文の作成を行った。まず東京大学に提出した博士論文「死刑囚たちの「歴史」-『反抗的人間』のコンテクスト」である。この論文は、長年の研究をまとめたものであるが、カミュの歴史観を分析した後半部は、テロリズムを主題とする本研究の成果であると言える。カミュは『反抗的人間』に於いて、死刑囚となった革命家たちが、如何なる態度でみずからの死を受け入れたのか、その態度をフランス革命の革命家から20世紀のコミュニストたちに至るまで、俯瞰することで、彼独自の解釈を示した。従来見過ごされてきたこの点を明らかにしたのが本論文である。この論文をめぐって、田村毅、中地義和、塚本昌則、平石貴樹(以上、東京大学)、稲田晴年(静岡県立大学)の五氏を審査員として、10月22日公開審査が行われ、博士(文学)を授与された。審査員の先生方から頂いたコメントを考慮に入れて、加筆訂正を施した後、この博士論文を出版することを考えている。次に、『仏語仏文学研究』第32号に発表した、「未来と殺人-コミュニストたちの裁判と『反抗的人間』」である。1930年代末、ソ連邦に於いて高名な革命家ブハーリンの裁判が行われた。第二次大戦後、モーリス・メルロ=ポンティが『ヒューマニズムとテロル』(1947)を発表し、この裁判を正当化し、コミュニズム陣営を擁護した。この論文は、『反抗的人間』に於いて...

The aim of our three-year (2002 to 2004) collective research project was to describe the influence of cultural factors in the broadest sense on formal transformations in French poetry. In studying the meaning, purpose or limits of literature, one must take into account the momentous influence of mysticism on western literature from the Middle Age to the modern era. Our core corpus focused on the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Close attention was also paid to the influence of mysticism on modern literature. Specialist from France and the US were invited to give lectures on this subject.
Masanori TSUKAMOTO and Tetsuya SHIOKAWA's lectures given during Todai Symposium ( 《The otherness of the work》, 12-15 november 2003) were amongst our major recent achievements.
