  • 累積的有利・不利形成過程に関する計量社会学的研究：個人と地域からのアプローチ

    今年度は主に研究を実施するための研究組織の構築やデータ整備を中心に行った。具体的には以下の2つの研究課題に取り組んだ。


    第1に、出身地域・出身階層による教育達成の不平等のメカニズムの探求である。そのために、東京大学社会科学研究所が実施しているパネル調査（中学生親子パネル調査）のデータを使って計量分析を進めた。また、研究を進めるために、東京大学社会科学研究所附属社会調査・データアーカイブ研究センターの二次分析研究会「地域間格差に関する計量社会学的研究」の研究代表となった。2022年3月にはこの二次分析研究会の成果報告会を開催し、現時点での研究成果について報告した。具体的には教育達成の都道府県格差と近隣格差について分析を行い報告した。


    第2に、居住地域の不平等さと主観的社会的地位の関連性に関する研究である。既存の量的調査のデータでは地域情報が使えない、あるいは使えたとしても都道府県や市区町村レベルにとどまることが多い。また、主観的社会的地位の変数も地域間比較をするための設計となっていないという問題があった。そこで、東京大学社会科学研究所附属社会調査・データアーカイブ研究センターが実施している「暮らしと仕事に関する全国オンライン調査」（SSJDA Panel）の新規項目募集があったため、そちらに応募した。新規項目は採択された。データはすでに納品されたため、データ分析を今後行っていく。なお、このデータは小規模な地域の情報・特性を利用することができる。

  • 近隣効果の生成メカニズムに関する社会学的研究

    本研究の目的は、日本において近隣効果と地域間格差に関する体系的な研究を実施することである。平成30年度に実施した研究は以下の通りである。


    第1に、アメリカのハーバード大学社会学部に客員研究員として滞在することで、アメリカでの近隣効果等に関する研究の動向について情報収集を行った。（客員研究員としての滞在期間は2017年9月から2018年5月までである。）その結果、アメリカではライフコース的な研究や因果推論に関する研究が多いなどの知見を得た。第2に、本研究課題に大きく関連する「社会過程」（Social Process）に関する文献レビューを行った。社会とは時間的、空間的に異質なものであるとみなす社会過程に関する議論は、アメリカの近隣効果に関する研究では進んでいるが、日本ではまだ十分な理論的・実証的検討がなされていない。そこで本研究では、日本の社会学への「社会過程論」の応用可能性について検討した。なお、この研究は現在も進行中である。第3に、近隣効果と地域間格差に関する実証研究を進めた。まず、出身地域が地位達成に与える影響について明らかにした。2015年「社会階層と社会移動に関する全国調査」（SSM調査）を用いた計量分析により、地域が個人の階層的地位に影響していることを明らかにした。この研究成果については研究会で報告した。そして、地域が市民参加に与える影響についての英語論文の執筆にも取り組んだ。第1回SSP調査（2015年「階層と社会意識全国調査」）とマクロデータを合併したデータの計量分析より、階層と市民参加が結びついていることや都市度の低い地域と高齢化が進展した地域では市民参加が促されることなどを明らかにした。今後本論文が掲載された書籍が出版される予定である。これら3つの研究を行うことで、日本における近隣効果と地域間格差に関する研究分野に理論的・実証的貢献があったと考えられる。
