    In postwar period, although people were eager for reading publications, there were not enough publications. This was because the printing and publishing functions in metropolitan areas were lost in air raids, and papers supplies from oversea land were also lost.
    These local magazines have not been collected systematically and under tendency of dispersion. In this cooperative research, we conducted a comprehensive survey of these magazines by collecting old books and researching in the Prage Collection (known as documents of censorship which carried out in the occupation period) and in libraries of various regions. The result is “Dictionary of Local Magazines in the Occupation Period” which will publish in 2022.

    After the Fukushima accident in March 2011, a variety of social movements has become active, and tried to put new issues on both the public and the political agendas from a standpoint of ordinary citizens. This research has tried to clarify the actual conditions of social movements “after Fukushima”, tackling with nuclear energy issues and other issues much in common with them. In concrete terms, it was researched on the following four topics; (1) political structures that constrain the chances of anti-nuclear movements to get influence, (2) social movements and NGOs that call into question the type of economic projects, such as nuclear exports, which works discriminatory against social minorities in both domestic and global contexts, (3) a new movement of labor unions against the background of a growing non-regular workers, and (4) initiatives by intellectuals and feminist movement against the structure of discriminations at a global level.

    While the 1950s had a continuity with before war and the war time period, we clarified that it had a decisive meaning for the formation of the social system and the public consciousness after the war from historical materials at that time.About these,we published the writing of a large number of presentations at the meeting and a large number of books.In addition,we were able to make that the present age was a turning point in the society after the war clear more by reexamining the 1950s.About these,we published the writing of a large number of magazine articles,a large number of presentations at the meeting and a large number of books,too.

  • A Study Pluralistic Relations on Representing women between Cinema, Visual Image, Print Culture, and Literature through Comparative Studies France, China, and Japan

    This research conducted clarifies the following five points through a pluralistic investigation of the relationships between audio-visual expression, print culture, and literary expression.
    1, In order to demonstrate the differences between audio-visual expression and literary expression, a theoretical analysis on cinema and literature was conducted. Notably, a re-evaluation of theories related to structuralism and semiotics was carried out along with the re-construction of theories related to post modernism to illuminate the possibility for adaptation in cinema and literature.
    2, The historical transfiguration of the representing women from 1930's to 1990's becomes evident through an pluralistic examination of the relationships between films, paintings, photographs and icons in Modern Japan.
    3, The historical transfiguration of the representing women from 1930's to 1990's was clarified according to the interaction between literary expression and printed expression in Modern Japan.
    4, The historical similarities and differences of representing women between France, China and Japan from 1930's to 1990's was conducted clarifies through an pluralistic examination of the relationships between films, paintings, photographs and icons.
    5, A theoretical analysis on the results gender studies and feminist criticism was conducted for the deconstruction of the representing women.

  • "『サークル村』グループ"の思想史的研究

    今年度は、昨年度にひきつづいて、主に炭鉱における労働組合運動・サークル運動についての調査・研究を行った。
    九州については中間市・水巻町・大牟田市・荒尾市を、北海道については美唄市・歌志内市・赤平市・夕張市を訪れて(いずれも旧産炭地)、資料を収集・閲覧すると共に、元炭鉱労働者から1950年代から60年代前半にかけての労働運動・サークル運動の状況について聞き取り調査を行った(資料の閲覧に関しては、北海道道立図書館、国立国会図書館、大原社会問題研究所なども利用した)。今年度は、様々なジャンルの運動のうち、当時もっとも影響力の大きかったうたごえ運動に関する研究にも着手した。とりわけ、三井三池争議の際にうたごえ運動が果たした役割ついて現地における聞き取り調査を実施したことは、サークル運動の全貌を明らかにする上で欠くことのできない大きな収穫となった。
    また今年度は、炭鉱におけるサークル運動について、産別組合である炭労が果たした役割とサークル間のネットワーク形成という観点を中心に成果をまとめた(前半のみ『国語国文研究』に掲載、後半部は次号に掲載される予定である)。また現在、各炭鉱で発行されていた文学サークル誌を用いて、炭鉱の文学サークル運動を概観する研究論文に取り組んでおり、近く成果を公表したいと考えている。

    Narita Ryuichi and Toba Koji, Sato Izumi, Iwasaki Minoru, Michiba Chikanobu, Tobe Hideaki have monthly workshop deal with "JINMIN BUNGAKU" which is the magazine of circle movement.
    They published the result of workshop as supplement of "GENDAI SHISO" (SENGO MINSYU SEISINNSI =The popular mentality of Post-war Japan 2007. 12)."GENDAI SHISO" includes three articles which they wrote. One is "Shimomaruko Bunkasyudan and his era" and the other is "Ezima Kan", which are written by Michiba. And this magazine includes Iwasaki's article titled "Between the Poem and work",also."GENDAI SHISO" has also reprinted the clnology concerning the Shimomaruko Bunkasyudan written by Kido Noboru,and the articles concerned the circle magazine published in Shimomaruko aria, for example "Tanpopo" "Aburasashi". So, "GENDAI SHISO" is very useful for research the era of 1950's history in Japan, especially in cultural history.
    And they ordered the circle magazine which Hamaga Tomohiko has collected.
    Osa Shizue researched AmamiIsland,and Toba researched the circle magazine in Hokkaido.
    Narita, Iwasaki and Toba participated the international conference in Columbia University in 2004-2007 hosted by MJHW (Modern Japanese History Workshop). They reported the cultural history in 1950's in Japan.
    And Toba and Ikegami reported in the TURUMI KAZUKO Symposium in Kyoto in 2007.
