- Preliminary Analysis of Wind and Traffic Flow Conditions on Intercity Expressways

Japanese, This study integrates ten years of traffic flow data at 4.7 KP on the inbound Tomei Expressway with wind observations from the Kawasaki viaduct meteorological station, focusing on wind components aligned with the driving direction (headwind, tailwind, crosswind). To isolate wind effects, the dataset was limited to conditions without rainfall, daytime hours (07:00–16:00), and non-congested flow with average speeds of at least 60 km/h. Wind-speed-classified Q–V diagrams were first used to capture visual tendencies, followed by year-by-year and traffic-flow-ranked (200 vehicles/h intervals) correlation analyses between wind speed and average speed. The results indicate that headwinds tend to produce band-shaped reductions in speed levels and show predominantly negative correlations, consistent with increased aerodynamic resistance. Tailwinds exhibited slight speed increases, with correlations that varied by year and were often positive with average speed. Crosswinds, although expected to exert limited influence on longitudinal speed, revealed weak but generally positive correlations. These findings provide empirical evidence of the distinct effects of wind components on expressway traffic flow. - Driving Simulator-Based Evaluation of Vehicle Speed Reduction Due to Traffic Control Facilities

Japanese, This study focuses on energy-free traffic control facilities, such as roundabouts, two-stage pedestrian crossings, and unsignalized pedestrian crossings. It aims to evaluate the impact of installing these physical facilities on driver's behavior especially regarding their speed. To achieve this, a series of experiments were conducted using a driving simulator. The virtual driving courses were designed to simulate a main road passing through a rural village, with the traffic control facilities placed at the village entrance and within the residential area. The experimental results show that the installation of a roundabout or two-stage pedestrian crossings at the entrance, as well as the installation of two-stage crossings within the village, leads to a statistically significant decrease in vehicle speeds. Furthermore, when traffic control facilities are installed in combination both at the village entrance and within the village, the speed-reducing effect was found to be limited depending on the distance between the installations. - 運搬排雪・拡幅除雪が冬期の幹線道路における交通流状態に与える影響

Japanese, 本研究では,夜間において,横断歩行者の出現に備えた安全運転を促す事故対策,ならびにドライバーによる早期の歩行者認知を支援するための事故対策を考案し,屋外実証実験によりその有効性を検証する.具体的には光を使用したライトアップによる事故対策として,プロジェクションマッピング投影による事故対策およびスポットライト点灯による事故対策を提案し,それらが車両挙動に与える影響を調べた.分析の結果,スポットライトセンサー点灯は早期のブレーキ動作を促進し,ドライバーによる早期の歩行者認知を支援する,プロジェクションマッピング投影は低速での走行を促すことが示された. - プローブ旅行時間を用いた信号交差点アプローチの交通流状態判別手法

Japanese, The objective of this study is to analyze the change in cognition and understanding about “Traffic accident risk” and the behavioral intensions change for safe driving by providing the driver with traffic accident risk information. In this study, in order to grasp changes of cognition and understanding about the concept of “Traffic accident risk” and the applicability of traffic accident risk information, multiple communication experiments about traffic accident risk information were conducted. After analyzing changes in cognition and behavioral intentions regarding traffic accident risk information in each experiment, long-term changes in cognition and behavioral intentions regarding traffic accident risk information were shown by comparing results of two experiments. In addition to that, the route choice experiment providing traffic risk information were conducted before and after provision communication information regarding traffic accident risk and the effects of communication on low accident risk route choice behavior were analyzed. It was found that subjects of experiments who correctly perceived “the relationship of the traffic accident risk between roads and highways” increased by communication and subjects who want to use the low accident risk route increased either. As shown results of route choice model providing traffic accident risk information, communications about traffic accident risk information provision affected low accident risk route choice behavior positively. - Appropriate Traffic Safety Measures for Traffic Conditions with High Accident Risk

Japanese, Scientific journal, 本研究は,新しい信号制御方式の開発支援を目的として,信号交差点交通状態を 4 つの状態に分類して定義し,プローブ旅行時間を用いてリアルタイムで交通状態を判別する手法を考案する.具体的には,交差点流出方向の先詰まり有無と各現示の飽和状態を判定して,信号交差点交通状態を判別するアルゴリズムを考案する.また,実観測データに基づいてプローブ旅行時間に基づく先詰まり有無判定方法の精度を検証した結果,交差点によってその精度が大きく異なった.精度に影響を与える要因を検討するとともに,判定に用いる閾値の適切な設定方法を検討することが今後の課題である. - A Method for Detecting the Appearance of Macroscopic Congested State based on the Area Traffic State

Japanese, Scientific journal, グリッドロック現象などに起因して道路ネットワーク交通処理能力が低下する巨視的渋滞は,ひとたび発生するとその社会的損失が著しく増加する.これを回避するためには,巨視的渋滞の発生を事前に予測し適切な交通制御を実施する必要があり,同予測を行うためには,過去の巨視的渋滞発生状況を把握することが必要となる.そこで本研究では,交通流状態を巨視的に捉えるエリア交通流状態を用いて,巨視的渋滞発生の有無を検出する手法を考案する.具体的には,プローブデータを用いて算定されるエリア交通流状態の時間推移をクラスター分析することで,特定の道路ネットワークエリア,特定の観測日における巨視的渋滞発生の有無を判定する手法を考案した. - AN ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENT RISKS ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS CONSIDERING THE VISIBILITY OF INTERSECTION

Japanese, Scientific journal, The accident risk on residential roads is higher than that of highways. Especially, the intersections on the residential roads are more dangerous because of the large number of accidents. Therefore, in order to identify the factors affecting the number of accidents per unit traffic volume (hereafter, "traffic accident risk") at the intersections, this study makes a factor analysis for the intersections in Matsuyama metropolitan area. Since there are a lot of intersections with blind corners, in addition to road structure etc. the visibility of the intersection is considered as a factor. Specifically, by combining probe data and traffic accident data, a multiple regression analysis is carried out, using the number of traffic accidents at the intersections in each area as the objective variable, and various factors including intersection visibility as explanatory variables. As a result, it is shown that the accident risk of the 4-way intersections increases where narrowed roads intersected and good and bad visible corners were mixed. - EFFECT OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INFORMATION PROVISION ON EXPRESSWAY NETWORK CONSIDERING INFORMATION TYPES

Japanese, Scientific journal, Accident risk communications including accident risk information provision are important approaches to raise a driver’s awareness of road traffic safety from a long-term perspective by providing the information via various information media. The objective of the study is to investigate the effects of accident risk information provision using road information boards. A questionnaire survey for a total of 681 drivers living in Ehime and Niigata prefecture. In this study, we examined whether accident risk information provision using road information boards contributes to improving accident risk information attitudes and driver safety awareness by using structural equation model. The results shows that individual information acquisition factors make effects on accident risk information attitude and driver’s awareness of road traffic safety. It also shows that the accident risk information attitude such as understanding level, convincing level and the driver’s awareness of road traffic safety improved the driver who received the accident risk information on the road information boards. - 交通事故の影響による MFD 形状変化分析

Japanese, Scientific journal, In urban areas, many people drive into narrow roads without signal lights to avoid congestion on arterial roads. This is, however, a great danger to the residents as well as pedestrians and cyclists. To solve this "rat-run" problem, it is indispensable to develop the consciousness of rat-runners.
To this end, we consider providing factual examples that the disadvantages of taking rat-tun outweigh the disadvantages. This study is based on Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, While verifying the effect of shortening the required time by rat-running, it also analyzed the driving characteristics of vehicles taking rat-run. As a result, due to the waiting time when merging to the main road and the influence of the signal system control, the effect of shortening the time when taking a rat-run becomes smaller. Besides, while taking rat-run frequently, vehicle speed tends to increase significantly when there is more congestion. - An Analysis of Effect of Lateral Viewing on Visual Perception of Road Space

Japanese, Scientific journal, Lateral viewing where the directions of the head and eyes are different and the change of the lateral viewing with time interferes with attentive visual search performance because visual attention resources are divided and coordinated into head and eye directions. In this study, we hypothesize that lateral viewing and the change of the viewing affects the duration required for visual perception of road space. Specifically, we focus on the lateral viewing of pedestrians when they cross a road and analyze the effect of the lateral viewing and the change of the viewing on the search time for a target stimulus in the road space by conducting a visual search task. The results showed that the longer the time required to search time for target stimulus in the road space, the greater the lateral viewing and the greater the change of the lateral viewing with time. Japanese, Scientific journal,This study aims to demonstrate that driver's cognition during driving at night can be improved by attentional momentum effect. Driver's cognition of a target often delays due to inhibition of return, which is that exogenous attention is suppressed orienting toward previously inspected locations. Previous studies have suggested that attentional momentum effect relieves inhibition of return. It is considered that driver's exogenous attention tends to be located on roadside -stores with high-illumination intensity which could cause the inhibition of return resulting in the delay in cognition of a target. This study conducts a pre-cueing task based on dual task paradigm to show attentional momentum effect relieves inhibition of return during driving at night. The response time of the attentional momentum condition was observed to be shorter than the inhibition of return condition. This result suggested that attentional momentum effect led to improve the driver's cognition during driving at night.

Japanese, Scientific journal,Accident risk information system aims to reduce traffic accidents by navigating drivers to the routes with lower accident risk. This study quantitatively evaluates the effect of the accident risk information provision by utilizing a dynamic traffic simulation environment – SOUND. The simulation bed is constructed to model the wide-area road network of Matsuyama, Japan. Accident risk estimation models are embedded in the simulation to calculate the timedependent route cost considering the accident risk in addition to conventional cost terms such as travel time. The simulation estimates the traffic conditions when drivers acquire the accident risk information in their route choice. The effect of the information provision system is evaluated by comparing the expected number of accidents with and without the system. The results revealed that the drivers with accident risk information prefer to use routes with lower accident risk, and the total number of accidents could reduce by up to 4%.

Japanese, Scientific journal,According to the traffic accident statistics in Japan, accident occurrence rate for residential road is around 2.4 times higher than that for arterial road. Despite this fact, a certain level of drivers might recognize driving on arterial road as more dangerous, resulting in avoiding arterial road usage. Therefore, this research investigated the driver's perceptions toward traffic accident rate, and then analysed the impact of information provision related to traffic accident risk. The results showed that about 30% of respondents perceived accident occurrence rate for arterial road higher than that of residential road. In addition, providing accident risk information might have greater potential to enhance the arterial road usage through the correction of perception bias.

Japanese, Scientific journal,This research analyzes the tendency of cognitive bias perceptions for traffic accident risk on the Matsuyama urban area considering residential street. This research conducted a questionnaire survey for the drivers living in Matsuyama city area to understand not only situation of residential street utilization, but also intention of main road and perception to traffic accident risk. It is to analyze how drivers recognize the traffic accident risk for both main road and residential street in Matsuyama city. The analysis results from questionnaire survey data describes that 40 – 50% of drivers currently recognized traffic accident risk which are risk to cause, risk of getting caught and fatal accident rate. In addition to that drivers who is thinking that they can avoid the risk to cause traffic accident on residential street and the risk of getting caught tends to overly evaluate sever accident rate on main road by examining estimated parameters from ordered response probit model.

Japanese, Scientific journal,This research estimated the passengers' benefit accrued by expressway expansion. An integrated travel demand model which is composed of mode choice, destination choice and trip generation model was developed in order to comprehensively assess the behavioral changes brought by expressway expansion. In addition, "travel time delay"was explicitly considered in the mode choice model as an indicator of travel time reliability. The result showed that the value of travel time reliability was around 40 times larger than that of travel time savings, and the amount of travel demands such as induced, transferred and shifted traffics would be too large to ignore even if the length of expressway expansion were relatively short distance. Also shown was that the passengers' benefit attributed to those demand accounts for approximately half of overall benefit. These results indicate that the current evaluation method based on the road network assignment model with fixed demand might seriously underestimate the passengers'benefit accrued by expressway expansions and mislead the policy decision to postpone them.

Japanese, Scientific journal, This paper describes development of integrated traffic data base for traffic accident risk information provision on Niigata urban area road network. By cooperations of the Niigata National Highway Office, East Nippon Expressway Company and Niigata Police Agency, detector data, traffic accident records and road geometric design data and weather data has been integrated to be possible to compare the accident risk characteristics between different road types. Characteristics of traffic accident risk by several factors in study site has been analyzed. Results of the analysis quantitatively showed accident risk on expressway is much lower than other arterial road including Niigata-Shinshin bypass road. The analysis also showed that traffic congestion and weather condition (rain and snow fall) affect to occur higher accident risk traffic situation. In addition to that, stated preference survey designed based on actual situation of traffic accident risk on Niigata urban area is conducted to analyze route choice behavior of the driver in the study site. Binomial logit model that is driver choose expressway or arterial road in the study site is applied. Model parameter estimation results showed us that drivers tends to choose the lower accident risk road if the accident risk information is provided. Especially emphasized information such as accident risk on the road is ten times higher than the other road is preferred compared to numerical information. Moreover authors confirmed that estimated model can install into traffic simulation to evaluate traffic condition under traffic accident risk information provision, and discuss how to implement proposed traffic accident risk management schemes in the Niigata urban area. - ANALYSIS ON PERCEPTIONS OF ACCIDENT OCCURRENCE RATE AND SEVERE ACCIDENT RATE AND THEIR EFFECTS ON THE FREQUENCY OF EXPRESSWAY USAGE

Japanese, Scientific journal, According to the traffic accident statistics in Japan, accident occurrence rate for expressway is around 10 times lower than that for ordinary road, and severe accident rates for both roads are at the same levels. Despite these statistics, a certain level of drivers might recognize expressway driving as more dangerous, resulting in avoiding expressway usage. Therefore, this research investigated the driver's perceptions toward traffic accident rate and severe accident rate based on a small-scale questionnaire survey for road users in Shikoku region. The results showed that about 20% of respondents perceived accident occurrence rate for expressway higher than that of ordinary road, and around 90% of respondents answered that severe accident rate for expressway is higher than that of ordinary road. In addition, the effects of these perceptions on the frequency of expressway usage was analysed using covariance structure model. The result showed that these perception biases would significantly decrease the frequency of expressway usage, and their impacts might be unignorable compared to those of travel time and expressway toll. - 四国地域における社会基盤メンテナンスエキスパートの養成

Japanese, Scientific journal,This study investigates the relationship between driving experience and generalization of driver's stopping behavior. Previous research has suggested that an acquired behavior is triggered by positive reinforcement, and the same behavior is replicated by the same trigger in any situations once it is generalized. Driving behavior is a type of acquired behaviors, and therefore it is possible that a procedure in driving is generalized by accumulating driving experience. This study aims to relate the generalization of driver's stopping behavior to the driver's driving experience by comparing the stopping behavior in real space and virtual space presented by a driving simulator. The results showed that drivers with longer driving experience performed stopping behavior based on the same positive reinforcement regardless of the situations: real space or virtual space, which suggests that their stopping behavior is generalized. On the other hand, drivers with shorter driving experience did not exhibit the generalization in their behavior.
- Speed Estimation Model for Signalised Arterials based on Aggregated QV Relationships

Japanese, Scientific journal,This study aims to develop an average travel speed estimation model for signalised arterials based on the relationship between flow (Q) and speed (V). Such relationship, or the QV relationship, describes the travel speed at given flow levels, which plays crucial role in designing traffic management schemes to evaluate the traffic performance after devising the policies. On the other hand, in the state of the practice, the QV relationship of signalised arterials only relates the daily traffic volume and daily average travel speed, which is unable to capture the dynamic changes in traffic, and therefore, hinders the proper evaluation of traffic performance after the policies. This study developed the methodology to estimate the QV relationship of signalised arterials using traffic data aggregated in smaller time intervals (e.g., 15 minutes). The proposed QV relationship relates the space-mean flow and speed along a corridor by utilising multiple detectors. The travel speed estimation model was developed based on a multiple linear regression model, which defined the average travel speed using the space-mean flow, road geometry and time of day. The model exhibited sound accuracy with R2 of 0.77, and revealed the impact of road geometry and temporal difference on travel speed.

Japanese, Scientific journal,Implement traffic management which encourages traffic shift from a high risk route to a low risk route in the view of spatially and temporally with understanding the probability of accidents in the road network (referred to as "accident risk"). It can reduce the number of traffic accidents. However, accident risk in expressways and arterial roads can be calculated from the problem of acquiring traffic flow data by sensors, On the other hand, accident risk calculation on specific residential roads was difficult. In this research, using the ETC 2.0 data which is becoming popular in recent years, we propose a method to estimate the distance that ETC2.0 vehicles running of residential roads. Furthermore, accident risk of residential roads is analyzed based on the distance that ETC2.0 vehicles running estimated by the same method for actual road network in Matsuyama metropolitan area. As a result, the accident risk becomes high in the narrow road width road.

Japanese, This study makes a factor analysis of the traffic accident risk in 2 regions, Tokyo and Ehime prefecture. Comparison analyses of the factors are carried out considering the land uses, which affect the rear-end collision accident risk. Region, land use, hourly traffic volume and road structure are considered as the factors, Poisson regression analysis and Negative Binomial regression analysis are carried out using the Road Traffic Census in 2010 and the traffic accident records in 3 years from 2012 to 2014. As a result, it is shown that the impacts of some same factors in Tokyo and Ehime are significantly differential effect of factors. For example, the rear-end collision accident risk can be increased when the level of traffic volume is highest (more than 800 vehicles/h/lane) at DID district in Ehime prefecture, and the traffic accident risk at DID district in Tokyo is decreased at the same level as the hourly traffic volume. On the other hand, the traffic accident risk at DID district in Tokyo is increased as the density of signalized intersection increase and the traffic accident risk at the other district in Ehime prefecture can be increased in accordance with the number of signalized intersection per kilometer increased. - An Analysis of the Detection Probability of MAC Address from a Moving Bluetooth Device

Japanese, Scientific journal,This study investigates the effect on vigilance decrement on driver's cognition of road gradient at sag sections. Previous research has suggested that traffic congestion at sag sections was dependent upon that the deceleration of the vehicle driven without notice the change in road gradient at sag section propagates to followers. In psychology, persons miss recognizing the change in the target over time because of vigilance decrement, that is deterioration in the ability to remain attention for change of target over time and it is effective to avoid to maintain attention over prolonged periods time in order to reduce vigilance decrement. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine whether the disengagement of attention to a particular field improve the cognition of change in road gradient based on selective adaptation task. As the result, in the reaction time indicated the smoothness of the cognitive process, it was possible that attentional disengagement was caused the reduction of vigilance decrement. These results suggested that it led to improve the driver's cognition of road gradient to disengage attention in proper time.
- Modelling the Detection Probability of the MAC Address from a Moving Bluetooth Device considering Characteristics and Positions of the Scanner

Japanese, Scientific journal, Traffic monitoring using Bluetooth MAC addresses has been intensively studied for a decade. Nevertheless, estimation of Origin-Destination volume is still challenging, because the detection probability is unstable and sensitive to the installation positions and environments. With the aim to reveal the factors affecting the detection probability of MAC addresses, this study conducted a series of driving tests to collect detection samples from moving Bluetooth device under various scenarios. The data was then fed in a Logistic Regression Model to estimate the contribution of the factors, such as the installation positions of the scanner and the driving speed of the experiment car, to the detection probability. The results agreed on the significance of distance and angle between the scanner and the car, as well as the car speed, as reported in preceding studies. This study further identified the contribution of driving direction and timeout duration of the scanner. The proposed model successfully estimated the detection probability with a reasonable accuracy. - サグ認知における注意の解放効果

Japanese, Traffic accident risk must be changed depend on the time of day. It is important to understand this effect on traffic accident risk. In order to carry out effective safety measures, this study investigates the relationship between accident risk and the time of day. After the traffic accident risk of several accident types are calculated based on the hourly traffic volume observed by the census, Poisson regression model is applied to them to investigate the impact of the hourly traffic volume, land use and road structures on the traffic accident risk. As a result, it is shown that the hourly traffic volume has significant impact on the accident risk of all accident types, and the impacts are different tendencies among the 4 accident types. As for the right/left turn accident and the crossing collision, both of the accident risks take the highest value at the certain level of traffic volume. About the rear-ender collision, it tends to increase as the hourly traffic volume increases. On the other hand, about the single vehicle accident, it tends to decrease as the hourly traffic volume increases. - AN EXAMINATION OF THE ACCIDENT RISK UNIT ON NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

Japanese, Recently, the accident rates per vehicle-kilometers is generally used as the likelihood of accident occurrence evaluation unit. The evaluation unit is considered to be proper for a traffic accident on the controlled- access roads such as expressways. On the other hand, it is assumed that the traffic accident on the highways which have intersections are occurred more frequently when the driver passes through an intersection than passing through a basic road section. Therefore, the number of times of passing intersections is considered to be more proper as the evaluation unit than the vehicle-kilometer of travel. In this study, in order to consider the evaluation unit as the accident risk on the highways, a comparative analysis has been conducted to understand how the relationship between vehicle-kilometers and the number of times of passing intersections affect the accidents on highways. As the result of comparative analysis, it shows that the number of times of passing intersections has a strong impact on the multi-vehicle accident and collision of vehicle with pedestrian than the vehicle-kilometer of travel. Japanese, Development of traffic flow monitoring technology is required at areas where are not enough equipped traffic sensor infrastructure such as Asian countries and rural cities in Japan. Data collection from vehicles having smart phone and car navigation system has attracted attention to be one of the solution for those issues since these devices are installed Bluetooth devices that has unique MAC address, and matching of MAC address can collect traffic state data such as travel time, OD traffic volume and so on. However details of characteristics of MAC address data detection have not yet known to use for traffic state analysis. Therefore this research analyzes MAC address data detection rate from Bluetooth devices focusing on the distance and angle between MAC address scanner and transmitters. In addition, difference of setting way (horizontally and vertically placed) of MAC address scanner is also considered to analyze MAC address detection rate. Experiment results shows detection rate changed by distance, angle and setting way of MAC address scanner, and detection rate is significantly different by difference of those factors. Therefore hypothesis of this study what MAC address scanner has directivity to detect MAC address from Bluetooth devices has been supported statistically. And its results also showed importance of considering directivity for data collection from vehicles installing Bluetooth devices. - Development of monitoring method for traffic condition based on cross-sectional MAC address collection

Japanese, Emergency transportation service can take emergency patients to hospitals, which is one of the most important governmental services. Now in Japan, the population is decreases and the demand of the calls for ambulance is predicted to increase. Therefore, it is requested that we make the service as efficient as possible and we have an appropriate scheme from mid and long-term perspectives how the degree of the level of service should be kept. This research investigates the actual status of the service towards its effective operation. In this paper, the transportation time is divided into 5 stages, time for order, preparation, arrival, staying, sending. Then, estimation models of the required time of these 5 stages are constructed, and the models are applied to the current service provided in Matsuyama-city. Japanese, In addition to free flow state and congested flow state, this study establishes the third phase of mixed flow state based on the q-k state using 5 minutes data, and carried out a comparative analysis, which investigates an impact of the three phases of traffic states on traffic accident risk. Firstly, in order to consider difference in the process of mixed flow state, this study analyzed the differences between the traffic accident risk on two-lane expressway and four-lane expressway. After, focused on an impact of a heterogeneous mixed flow state that appear when free flow state and congested flow state are mixed in space on accident risk, the relationship between the traffic states on each lane and traffic accident risk were analyzed. Using the accident record and the observed traffic data, this study analyzed the accident risk on the Hanshin Expressway network. As a result, it is shown that the accident risks of rear-ender collision and minor collision tend to be higher in the homogeneous congested flow comparing to ones in the heterogeneous mixed flow. - 時間集積の経済・不経済を考慮した始業時刻選択モデル

Japanese, This study makes verification analysis of a ramp metering control strategy using Macroscopic Funda-mental Diagram. One of the greatest advantages of the control is that the control can be operated without OD information. In this analysis, the driver's route choice behavior model is constructed, in which they choose their route, expressway or arterial. Then, applying a simulation model with the route choice model to an actual expressway network and an actual OD demand, the analysis has been done. The results show that operation of the control has benefits to improve the traffic states on expressway and to increase in-flow traffic. In other words, it is shown that the traffic flows not only on expressway but also on arterial could be improved by operating the proposed metering control. - BIFURCATION ANALYSIS OF AN ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY MODEL WITH A TRANSPORT SECTOR

Japanese, In this paper, weinvestigate the effect of transport market structure on the distribution of economic activity. To achieve this purpose, we extend an economic geography model developed by Thisse8) in order to incorporate the transport sector. Analysis of this model shows that if the carriers' entry is free, agglomeration of economic activity increases price competition among carriers that fosters further agglomeration. By contrast, if entry is regulated, the agglomeration increases the carriers' market power. Consequently, entry regulation in the transport sector may lead to the collapse of the agglomeration. - ANALYSIS ON THE CAR OWNER'S INTENTION TOWARD CAR SHARING SERVICE IN THE PROVINCIAL CAPITAL CITY

Japanese, This research analysed the car owner's intention toward car sharing service in the provincial capital city. An in-depth interview survey was conducted in Matsuyama city to investigate the car usage, perception of the monetary cost related to car usage, perception of the existing car sharing service, and intention toward the hypothetical car sharing services. The results showed that the majority of car owners had not considered the overall cost related to car usage and they tend to overestimate it. Such respondents stated relatively high intention toward the car sharing service compared to the ones who underestimate the overall cost related to car usage. Also, it seems to be very important for the penetration of car sharing system to introduce a service which would reduce the user's anxiety about the availability of the service. - 都市内高速道路における交通流状態領域別車線数別事故発生リスク

In the previous studies, regression analyses have been done to a two lane urban expressway. Then, the various factors, such as traffic flow state, road geometry and environment, have significant impacts on the occurrence of the 3 types of accident, rear-ender collision, minor collision and own-crash accident. In this study, using the accident report, traffic counts obtained by detectors, rain precipitation data and road geometry data on Hanshin Expressway during 3 years from 2006 to 2008, the differences between the traffic accident risk on two-lane expressway and multi-lane expressway are investigated. Japanese, This study investigated the applicability of iterative proportional updating (IPU) algorithm to calculate the weight for each sample case obtained from the disaggregate survey so as to match distributions of household and person attributes in the generation of synthetic populations. The large-scale person-trip survey data conducted in Matsuyama metropolitan area was empirically applied as the disaggregate data, and the results showed that the excessive categorization of attributes would produce large errors due to the lack of sample case, sometimes inducing the failure to calculate the weight. Although the integration of the attribute categories would alleviate above problems, the excessive integration might induce the loss of original information, that is, heterogeneity of the sample case, undermining the advantage of micro-simulation approaches. Japanese, This paper proposes the simplified network which consists of two types of links, one is “aggregate link” that represents many routes and mainly deals with streets, the other is“arterial link”that represents the road section and mainly indicates arterials. The simplified network can be formed with smaller number of links comparing to one including all roads, arterials and streets. Moreover, this paper shows the equivalence between the assignment on the simplified network and on the network of all roads on the assumption and using the special utility function in the route choice model. As for the assumption, the study is assuming that the cognitive travel time of all routes from Origin to Destination is the same within the streets area, which is surrounded by arterial links. Several theoretical studies related to departure time choice problems on the congested road networks have been done and some of them have shown the solution of equilibrium problems under some conditions of travelers' cost functions. Japanese, This study tries to investigate the relationship between the timing of vehicles approaching to the signal intersection and the potential of the occurrence of accidents. The drivers' decision whether they will stop or go at the signal intersection when yellow starts is analyzed first, and it is confirmed that their decision is affected by the configuration of the signal intersection. Next, using the observation results, ‘Dangerous Zone’ is proposed to be defined on the space-velocity plane at the time when yellow starts. Japanese, The paper deals with the bottleneck phenomenon and capacity analysis of the divided two-lane expressways in Japan, which has not been studied so far, although those of the multi-lane expresswayshave been done sufficiently. It is found from the observed data that (1) the bottleneck phenomenon of capacity reduction from the maximum flow rate just before congestion to that discharged from the congestion queue behind bottleneck occurs on the divided two-lane expressways as similar to that of multi-lane expressways;(2) the capacity reduction for the divided two-lane expressways is largerthan that for the multiple-lane expressways;(3) the bottleneck capacity of the divided two-lane expressways is less than the average capacity per lane of the multi-lane expressways. In additions, (4) the relationship between bottleneck capacity and highway geometric characteristics is studied. Finally it suggests a mechanism of improvement of bottleneck capacity by adding an auxiliary lane upstream of the bottleneck for the divided two-lane expressways. - Development and Evaluation of a Multi-Modal Information Provision System for Promoting the Demand of Public Transport

Japanese, This study develops an Internet-based multi-modal information system which provides information on both auto and public transit trips.Trip information such as travel time and cost is displayed on the same screen forauto and public transit trips.Using the developed system, the effect of information on modal shift is analyzed through an experiment in which the subjects are asked to access the information homepage.For a subgroup of the subjects, public transit fare is set free for one week, and possible changes in their perceptions of public transit are examined.Results indicate that private auto users tend to change their perceptions of and attitudes toward public transit after accessing information on it.Yet, it is difficult to make private auto users shift to public transit even if public transit fare is set free for a short period. - 交通シミュレーション 交通シミュレーション普及に関する促進活動と課題の整理 (自主研究活動報告)

The right-turn traffics, which are forced to keep staying at an intersection due to the opposing traffic, usually obstruct the following vehicles' way if there is not enough width on the road. This research focuses on such a phenomenon called ‘the blocking phenomenon’, and construct new capacity estimation methods for several types of signal intersections. The capacities are estimated using the signal control parameter, the right-turn traffic ratio and the saturation degree of the opposing traffic, etc.

Japanese, This research analyses theoretical aspects on DSO (the Dynamic System Optimal assignment) and the ramp control using a simple network with parallel freeway and arterial. First, the dynamic marginal cost, which plays an important role in the dynamic analysis, is defined and several queuing patterns in DSO are described. Second, based on the DSO discussion, the ramp control strategy is analyzed. It has not been known whether the ramp control can indeed reduce the total travel time not only on the freeway but on the arterial, since the control basically decreases capacity of a link on a network. However, the analysis reveals required conditions and the optimal strategy so that the ramp control can effectively reduce the total travel cost. - Construction of a Data Set for Validation of Traffic Simulations.

Japanese, In this study, a data set for validating traffic simulation models was constructed. A plate-number-matching survey was conducted in an area between Kichijoji- and Mitaka-Station that were located in the west part of Tokyo. Observation errors in the survey data were corrected in order to estimate trajectories of vehicles. Hourly origin-destination tables were estimated by enlarging the aggregated trajectories. Japanese, This study proposes a realistic method to evaluate impacts of dynamic traffic information provision, and the method is applied to a real urban expressway network using observed OD volumes. Although traffic information has been dynamically provided through VMS, on-board equipment, highway radio etc., the impacts on traffic have not been well evaluated by taking the daily OD demand fluctuation. We therefore propose a new evaluation method considering the OD demand variation and show a possibility that the information provision may lead to total travel time increase. To examine this possibility, the method is then applied to the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway network for one month. As a result, it is confirmed that dynamic traffic information provision would not be effective under regular traffic conditions except at the beginning of a peak. Japanese, This study proposes and develops an OD (Origin-Destination) estimating method from traffic counts using dynamic traffic simulation. The proposed method intends to get an OD matrix which is required by dynamic traffic simulation so as to reproduce observed counts. After development, we evaluate how accurately it can estimatean OD matrixusing actual road network. In result, we confirm that the method cannot estimate exact OD matrix because it intends to get an OD matrix by which simulation can reproduce observed counts. The relationship between the travel speed at the main road and that detouring through neighborhood streets is examined by using the probe car information. The results suggest that the two travel speeds are positively correlated, implying that more drivers detour from the main road to the neighborhood street when the congestion at the former is severer. 本研究では,交通事故や自然災害などの突発事象に起因する非日常の激しい交通渋滞(以下“Breakdown”)の未然防止に向けて,空間モニタリング技術,交通流解析手法,ならびにAIによる情報解析技術を組み合わせた,道路ネットワーク交通流におけるBreakdown発生予測手法を構築することを目的とする.令和3年度においては,以下の研究を行った.
1)交通流観測データとプローブ車両走行軌跡を用いて,ネットワークの交通流状態における交通密度と交通量の関係を示すMFDを推定する手法を確立した.さらに,長期間蓄積されたこれらのデータと交通事故の記録を用いて,OD交通量の変化や交通事故発生によるMFD形状の変化を把握した.
2)AIを用いたネットワークブレイクダウン予測手法の構築に向けて,ネットワークの交通流状態をマクロに捉えるエリアトラフィックステートを指標として,ブレイクダウン発生の有無を判定する手法を開発し,その精度を検証した.
3)AI技術を用いた動的交通事故発生リスク推定モデルを適用して,道路ネットワーク全体が潜在的に有する交通事故発生リスクをリアルタイムで推定する手法を構築し,実交通データに適用してその精度を検証した.
4)道路ネットワーク上を走行するプローブ車両のDR画像をリアルタイムでサイバー空間に収集し,リアルタイムレンダリング技術に基づく画像解析を行って道路障害物の存在や路面浸水といった通行障害となるインシデント発生の検出あるいは発生可能性を評価する技術を開発し,実データを用いた検証を行った.

本申請課題では,今後も頻発することが見込まれる相乗型豪雨災害時の交通マネジメントのための理論再構築と社会への実装を行うことを目的とする。研究対象を被災直後から復興期までの4つの段階に分け,行動論の立場から主としてデータ収集,心理・行動分析,政策評価を行う。開発した一連の手法をパッケージ化したソフトウェア「TMRescue」(仮称)を,独自に収集した実データに適用し,実用性を検証する。
2021年度は、理論研究に基づきTMRescueの社会実装研究に取り掛かった。具体的には、
①タイムライン型避難支援アーカイブの構築に関しては,タイムラインの考え方を援用し,土砂洪水氾濫被害に対応した避難支援アーカイブを構築した。被災者の意識や行動に関する自由回答形式のアンケート調査とSNSのテキストデータを取得し,機械学習手法の一つであるトピックモデルを適用して,住民避難の阻害要因を特定した。
②災害時の動的交通情報提供システムの構築に関しては,災害発生後の公共交通運行の動的な交通情報提供システムを構築した。被災地区において居住地と避難所を結ぶグリーンスローモビリティによる移動支援の実験を行い,交通規制時の情報配信プラットホームを試行した。
③時間・空間的集積を考慮した交通マネジメント施策の決定に関しては,災害時に関係者が自由にアクセスできるオープンデータとして,需給マッチング技術および需給均衡点の予測技術に公共交通情報提供技術を同期させ,被災後のTDM×TSMを実現するサービスコンテンツを試作した。
④交通ネットワークの復旧優先度決定支援システムを用いた施策の評価に関しては,復旧優先度決定支援システムを相乗型豪雨災害の復旧・復興過程に適用し,道路区間の抽出,優先順位,交通容量の回復水準の妥当性について検証した。また,短時間で敷設可能な緊急仮橋モバイルブリッジの敷設効果を定量化した。

本研究は,将来的なコネクティッド車両や自動走行車両(CA車両)の普及を想定し,交通管制側からCA車両の挙動を介入的に制御することで,渋滞発生の緩和,ショックウェーブの解消,それに伴う事故防止のための交通流マネジメント手法に関わる諸要素の理論構築を行う.とりわけ,従来の研究では考慮されていなかった車線変更を含むCA車両と一般車両の相互作用や,現実的なリアルタイムデータ取得環境を考慮した上で,ロバストな制御効果を得ることを目標とする.そのための個別課題として,具体的には,1)深層学習を用いたデータ駆動型車両挙動モデルの開発とミクロ交通流シミュレーションへの実装,2)多種データの融合利用による全車両走行軌跡を動的に推定する手法の構築,3)モンテカルロ木探索を用いた車線変更を含むCA車両の挙動制御アルゴリズムの開発,に取り組んだ.
1)に関しては,前年度に構築したプロトタイプモデルをベースに,入力変数の精緻化とモデルの改良を行った.学習させるデータとしては,阪神高速道路が提供する車両走行軌跡データ(ztd)を用いた.その結果,時空間的なダイナミクスを表現できるような形で入力データを構造化することで,精度の向上が可能であることが明らかとなった.
2)に関して,昨年度まで使用していた交通流シミュレータでは,一旦,シミュレーションを停止してから車両を再配置してリスタートする際に,全車両の速度がリセットされる,ということが,推定精度を大きく低下させることが課題となっていた.そのため,シミュレーションのホットスタート機能と特定車両への介入制御機能を追加する取り組みをおこなった.
3)については,ボトルネックにおける交通状態を感知し,それに応じて上流区間でCA車両に対して車線変更を誘導するアルゴリズムを構築した.また,シミュレーション分析により.ショックウェーブの緩和が可能であることを示した.

This research aims to build a theoretical basis for the management of wide-area transport networks in the event of a large-scale natural disaster that greatly exceeds the people's daily activity area. We focused on the problems related to emergency wide-area evacuation within about one week after the disaster and the problem of supplying daily supplies to evacuees. We have achieved followings; (1) formulation of a common theoretical foundation for transportation network management in the event of a disaster,(2) establishment of a management theory for wide-area evacuation and transportation of daily necessities and (3) a case study ofintegrated wide-area evacuation and transport supply of daily necessities.

This research aims to improve the degradation prediction method required for bridge asset management. First, we investigated which parameters affect bridge degradation. As a result, it is found that the bridge deterioration is affected by the difference in the management organization. It is said that the distance from the coastal line affects very much, however, it is only a certain degree of influence according to the analysis of inspection data. Rather, it was suggested that initial defects may have a large effect on degradation.
To evaluate the tail risk of the bridge deterioraton, it is required to derive the detailed tail of the predicion distribution. We realize it by using hierarchical Bayesian model. As a result, it became possible to evaluate the tail risk as mentioned in the research plan, as well as to present the optimal inspection interval for each individual bridge.

A method of evaluating the risk is developed, which consists of traffic congestion risk, traffic accident risk, and environmental risk, when the network traffic flow breakdown phenomenon occurs. As for the evaluation of traffic congestion risk, we develop a network traffic simulation model which can deal with the demand change by incorporating the driver behavior model. The traffic accident risk and environmental risk are evaluated based on the output of the simulation model. A hysteresis analysis of the aggregated QK was carried out, and MFD on road networks in the center of the capital of 47 prefectures are analyzed for understanding their characteristics.

This study is regarded as an initial academic step aiming at enhancement in both mobility for elderly people and traffic safety and hereby consists of three themes below. 1) The major road and traffic factors have been extracted by statistical analysis of accident records, data of road structure and alignment and traffic data mainly focusing on the sections with large number of accidents. 2) Assuming road traffic environment with higher accident risk, this study has attempted to clarify the both positive and negative impacts of driving assistance systems using ITS. 3) This study has attempted to investigate travel behavior and needs for mobility especially of elderly people at the area with lower LoS of public transportation services in addition to the risk recognition of traffic accidents.

Our modern society has required dynamic risk management for transport network to minimize the negative effects of a system failure caused by traffic incident and/or natural disaster. This study aims to establish theoretical basis of advanced travel behaviour analysis and transport network analysis for dynamic risk management of transport network. Four years research with 14 researchers has achieved to develop advanced methods in travel behaviour survey based on the Probe Person survey, and to establish dynamic network traffic flow analysis methods by utilizing travel and traffic data with higher resolution. We have contributed to investigate fundamental theories on dynamic risk management of transport networks incorporating advanced travel behaviour models into dynamic network flow models. As a part of research activities, some of the research members organized three international symposiums in the field of traffic and transport theories in 2015 and 2017.

We have estimated evacuation time caused serious damage at Kashiwazaki-Kariha nuclear power plant by using a micro-traffic simulator “PARAMICS”. We conducted questionnaire survey to residents who stayed within 30 km from the power plant, and clarify their behavior just after the serious incident happened. We made an OD table by using the result of questionnaire survey and Road Census Data conducted by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation. We simulated the situation and pointed out the bottle neck for the evacuation. We evaluate the plans to reduce the evacuation time, such as increment of the number of the lane and construction of smart inter change, and confirm the reduced evacuation time.

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a theoretical system for evaluation of transportation network reliability considering natural disasters. Based on outcomes of our previous research conducted in Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A) (Research Project Number: 17206053), we developed "Data collection and its analysis systems for travel behavior" and "Evaluation theories for reliability of road network in natural disasters". These systems and theories were realized by incorporating the following three parts: (i) Behavioral survey and analysis considering situations in a disaster, (ii) Traffic simulation on transportation network affected by disaster, and (iii) Evaluation model for reliability utilizing traffic simulation. The proposed system was confirmed to be applicable for evaluating transportation network reliability considering possible natural disasters in Japan.

This study proposes a set of methodologies to analyze and evaluate the Level of Service(LoS) provided by road transportation system and its variation under the availability of rich dynamic traffic data. In addition, this study proposes countermeasures for traffic management to enhance the LoS of road transportation system. Major outcomes of this study are as follows. 1) We develop the methodology to evaluate the LoS of road transportation system based on the concept of travel time reliability of network. 2) This study suggests that provision of distribution information on travel time might helpful for enhancement in traffic management.

In this research, the multi agent travel behavior simulation system endogenizing social interaction is developed and we apply this system to the influence analysis for traffic regulations under road maintenance and the analysis of pro-environmental behavior. Moreover, extending this simulation system, we propose the experiment simulation system with participatory simulation technology that includes subjects in traffic simulation. And we developed a simple integrated model to account for endogenous changes in land-use and public-transportation-LOS for long-term demand prediction with simulation system.

平成19年度の成果,1)渋滞生起確率の定義,2)希望走行速度の異なる車両が混在する場合に,時間経過とともに変化する車群形成・拡散モデル,3)観測された走行速度と車群台数分布から希望走行速度分布を推定するモデル,について,実データを用いた検証を行った.具体的には,実観測による交通流データから,各交通需要レートの時に渋滞が発生した割合を算出し,この2つの値の適合状況を調べ渋滞生起確率の現状再現性を検証した.また,現実のボトルネックを対象とした観測データを用い,希望走行速度分布を推定,推定された希望走行速度の確率分布に基づいて,需要発生レートと渋滞生起確率の関係を求めた.その結果,本研究が提案する渋滞生起確率が現実の交通現象を適切に表現していること,ならびに構築したモデルがいずれも十分な妥当性を持つことを示した.
本研究によって,車両挙動のバラツキを以て渋滞発生という確率現象の一部を説明することが出来たと考えられる.すなわち,1台1台のミクロな車両挙動に着目し,車両挙動の確率的なバラツキを以て交通容量(より正確には「渋滞発生時交通量」)の確率的変動を説明する新しい交通流理論を創設した.
この成果により,これまでの流体力学理論が交通流とオキュパンシーという車両感知器から獲得される従前のデータとうまく調和し長く実務に利用されてきたのに対し,本研究による確率論的交通流理論では,個々の車両挙動のバラツキを取り扱うことから,AVIやプローブカーといった新しい観測・調査技術との調和が期待できる.すなわち,新しい理論に基づいた知見を活用することで,これらの観測・調査データを利用した全く新しい交通制御・運用・管理手法が生み出されることが期待される.

本研究ではITを利用した車両走行挙動に関する観測システムを用いて, 道路網の交通サービスの質を多面的に評価し, サービス水準向上策の選定に資する総合的な診断評価システムの構築を試みた. バスプローブデータ等を用いて, 所要時間信頼性の考え方に基づき, 道路構造・運用, 交通需要特性等の影響も加味した形で, サービス水準の評価方法を構築した. 交通錯綜部のサービス水準診断・評価に, 画像観測データを適用し渋滞発生メカニズムの解明法を提案するともに, 交通シミュレーションの基礎モデルとして, 車両間の多様性を考慮した追従モデルを構築した.

情報通信技術の高度化に伴い,GPS,携帯電話,PHS などの移動体通信システムの利用者数は飛躍的に増加しつつある.移動体通信による位置特定機能を用いると,機器を携帯する個々のヒトの位置特定が可能であり,過去数年の間に移動体通信機器を利用した交通行動調査手法が数多く提案されてきている.移動体通信を利用したヒトの交通行動の観測と分析手法については,1998 年に研究代表者らがITS 世界会議で発表した論文を皮切りに国内外で研究が進められている.国内ではプローブ車両による道路交通流の観測に代表されるように,実務面でも移動体観測への関心が高まっている.しかしながらこれに関連する既往研究のほとんどは平常時の交通行動を対象としたものであり,災害時を想定した観測システムの開発や分析手法に関する研究は見られない.
一方,災害時の交通ネットワークのリスク評価に関しては,多様なアプローチから研究されてきているが,災害時の交通行動に関する実証データを得ることが困難であるために,実際の交通ネットワークを対象としたリスク評価研究の蓄積は必ずしも十分ではない.移動体通信機器を応用して災害時の交通行動を,災害を模した状況において実証的に把握することは,災害時の交通ネットワークのリスク評価の信頼性をより高め,また,より精緻な場面への応用ができるようになることが期待されよう.

This research proposes a new traffic assignment method on the hybrid road network which consists of two types of links, one is "aggregate link" that represents many routes and mainly deals with streets, the other is "arterial link" that represents the road section and mainly indicates arterials. The simplified network can be formed with smaller number of links comparing to one including all roads, arterials and streets. This research shows the equivalence between the assignment on the simplified network and on the network of all roads on the assumption and using the special utility function in the route choice model. As for the assumption, the study is assuming that the cognitive travel time of all routes from Origin to Destination is the same within the streets area, which is surrounded by arterial links. On the other hand, the special utility function is adopted that can be divided into several road sections. Moreover, a traffic simulation model is established, which can estimate dynamic user equilibrium flow approximately on the hybrid road network.

Proposed in this study is a measure of the perception of travel time variability, perceived travel time bandwidth. Results of a six-week diary survey of expressway users in the Osaka metropolitan area of Japan have revealed that perceived bandwidth explains the variation in safety margin more than does the standard deviation of recorded travel times, that the perception of variability is important in explaining travel decision, and that an objective measure of variability, such as the standard deviation of travel times, may not he an effective variable to account fur traveler' decision under uncertainty.
The analyses of experimental data, obtained from 76 subjects, lend support to some of the hypotheses postulated on the perception of representative travel time. It has shown that availability by recentness applies in the perception of representative travel time before habitualization. The results have also shown that the association between perceived representative travel time and experienced travel times weakens after habitualization. Neither availability by extremity nor anchoring has been demonstrated by the analysis of the experimental data.
The numerical examples of this study provide results that improvements in network flow are negligibly small even when precise information on travel time is provided. In case where no predictive travel time information is present, results of agent-based route choice simulation indicate that higher levels of drivers' cognitive capabilities tend to produce more self-organization of drivers and stable network flows. It is also shown that information on routes that a driver did not take is important for this self-orgarnization. Simulation results also indicate that predictive travel time information is ineffective even when it is accurate.

The objective of this study is therefore to develop a model that focuses on the behavioral level of freight transportation. The proposed model considers the individual behavior of freight agents and their interactions in supply chain resulting in the model's capability to reflect the real mechanism of freight movement. The proposed model is a modification of the traditional four-step approach in that it considers the behavior of each freight agent individually. The study utilizes micro-simulation as an approach to the modeling, considering the behavior of each firm individually. The model structure consists of four stages : commodity production and consumption, commodity distribution, conversion of commodity flows to truck flows, and traffic assignment.
Since the model considers the individual behavior of freight agent, the model can be applied to both static and dynamic of freight transportation system. Static model results the average number of truck trips of each origin and destination; on the other hand, dynamic model concerned the dynamic process of freight movement that varies according to trend in consumption. In addition, several phenomena in economic (such as bull-whip effect) and seasonal variation in freight traffic demand can be captured by the dynamic multi-agent freight model. The proposed model has been applied to analyze the urban freight transportation in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. This study discusses the issues involved in model development and validation including conceptual framework, mathematical formulations, estimated results, and validation results. In addition, the model was also tested for its capability by applying to evaluate two proposed scenarios. The results show that the model is applicable to capture the responsive behaviors of freight agents that accompany the travel pattern changes.

本年度は,所要時間の不確実性を確率分布により表現するという立場から,実所要時間分布から認知所要時間分布を推定する手法を開発した.実所要時間分布と認知所要時間分布との関係性を記述する有効な数理モデルとしてあげられるのが,Kahneman and TverskyやPrelecにより提案されているウエイト関数である.ウエイト関数は,「不確実性下において意思決定者は,実際に生起する確率をそのまま認知している訳ではなく,何らかのバイアスを持って認知している」ことを数理モデルで表現するものである.ウエイト関数を用いることにより,不確実性に対する態度を記述することが可能であり,パラメータ推定値から実所要時間分布がどのようなバイアスを持って認知されているのかを明らかにすることが可能となる.
このウエイト関数を用いて,昨年度実施したダイアリーアンケート調査ならびに今年度実施した室内実験のデータにより,実所要時間の平均値・標準偏差と認知所要時間から認知所要時間分布を推定した.Kahneman and Tversky型ウエイト関数・Prelec型ウエイト関数ともに,そのパラメータ推定結果からは次の知見を得た:(1)早い所要時間の生起確率は実際よりも小さく認知する,(2)遅い所要時間の生起確率は実際よりも大きく認知する,(3)平均値付近の生起確率は実際よりも大きめに認知される.「所要時間が大きくなるほどその生起確率を大きく認知する」「実所要時間平均値周辺の生起確率は実際よりも大きく認知する」というように形で通勤者が不確実性を認知しているという結果は,現実問題として制約時刻の存在する通勤行動では妥当な結果であり,意思決定者の認識の歪みを考慮することで,交通行動の解釈の幅を広げると考えられる.

This research intends to obtain empirical knowledge of travellers' behaviour in congested network in cities in the world. This research developed a methodology for measuring degree of congestion in cities with lower cost. Applying Wardrop's theory of equilibrium, it intends to reduce the number of links to be measured. Static information of the network, such as nodes, links, free flow travel time of links, and topological information of their connectivity, is assumed to be obtained beforehand. The links to be measured are determined by this information. Using this methodology, travel times of links where measurement is not made can be estimated from the result of measurement of travel time on limited links.
The methodology explained above is described by route based theory and therefore enumerating all possible routes between each O-D pairs is necessary. However, it is known that enumerating all routes is not realistic due to calculation cost. This theory provides a method to finish calculations without such enumerations. On the other hand, travellers in the real world may not have ability to enumerate all possible routes between their origins and destinations. They may choose their routes from the limited options they can consider. Considering such behaviour of travellers, this study shows an algorithm to extract route choice options of travellers from all possible routes. This method was checked by empiricl test.
The empirical surveys were made in the selected cities in the world. Travel time of the networks was obtained by GPS-equipped cars. Travel time of all links of the networks has been obtained. Comparing this result with the methods shown above, characteristics of congestion and travel behaviour in congested network can be obtained.

This research tries to establish the new signal control strategy so as to minimize automobile emissions.
AVI(Automated Vehicle Identification system), probe vehicle and other new technologies are used to achieve the new signal control system, and this study 1)constructs the signal control system which utilizes new observation technology, 2)proposes the new estimation method of the volume of automobile emissions, and 3)establishes the signal control system which considers environmental aspect.
Results are shown respectively below.
1)The new signal control strategy is proposed using on-line and off-line data, which can be obtained from AVI, movable detector and probe vehicle, and its effectiveness is verified.
2)The estimation method of the volume of automobile emissions is constructed, which utilizes the trajectory data from probe vehicle.
3)The difference between signal controls for minimizing total delay and CO_2 emission at isolated intersection is shown, and using results from (1) and (2), a signal optimization method which minimizes the volume of the emission of CO_2 is established.

In addition to the continuous research and development on the ITS, various actual systems have been implemented in many countries in these ten years. It is needless to mention that the measurement of the effects of ITS on traffic and transport environment is very important and interesting research issue. In particular, advanced traveler information system is one of the representative ITS, and the effects of travel information on driver's behavior in a road network should be further studied. Those effects may depend on the road network attributes such as topological structure.
This research project intended to develop fundamental tools for the measurement of the effects of travel information on drivel's route choice behavior in a road network. The research output of this project includes travel data collection technologies, travel behavioral analysis methods and road network simulation models. Mobile communication devices and computer based survey technologies are discussed for collecting detailed and accurate travel data. Data oriented travel behavioral modeling including Data Mining approach are then studied for utilizing rich travel data. Based on theoretical studies on travel behavior and traffic flow, microscopic network simulation models are improved and calculated for estimating network wide effects of traveler information systems.
The output of this study would contribute to compare the effects of travel information systems in different road network environment. It could be also useful for developing international standard of travel information systems. Further studies in different countries are necessary to obtain more general conclusion on the travel information and driver's behavior.

本研究では,国際会議"Behaviors in Network"開催の企画調査を実施した.企画調査にあたってネットワーク上の交通行動に関する研究課題の分類を行なった.分類した各課題ごとにテーマを設け,2002年8月19日〜20日にかけて北海道で国際会議を前倒しで開催した.主な参加者は,ネットワーク配分の分野では,Yang, H.Wong, S.C., Iryo, T., Lam, W.H.K, シミュレーション分野では,Yoshii, T., Lo, H.P.Bekhor, S.Hato,行動モデル分野では,Lee, S.Fujii, S.Asakura, Yで,それぞれ各分野の研究成果を持ちよって議論すると共に,既往の研究課題の整理とレビューをあわせて実施した.行動モデルについては,経路重複の記述可能性と.計算可能なアルゴリズムを実装したネットワークモデルへの組み込み可能性が今後の大きな研究課題であることが示された.
次に.2003年3月15日東北大学において,同分野の今後の方向性について,モデルとデータ,ミクロとマクロの関連性の2つにしぼって,国内の研究者を中心に今後の研究課題の展望を行った.行動モデルの分野からは羽藤,佐々木,モデルの適用可能性については井料,円山が,ミクロとマクロのモデル化については赤松,奥村が,一般均衡の枠組みにおける行動モデルの役割については上田が,その研究課題の整理とレビューを行った.隷属パラメータから考えた行動モデルとネットワークモデルの関連性や,データ取得精度や分解能の精密化によるモデルのブレークスルーへの期待が示された.
第一線で活躍する国内外の研究者を招いた国際会議を前倒しで開催すると共に,行動モデルの研究者以外の幅広い研究者とのコミュニーケーションを実施したことで,同分野の今後の方向性についてマクロモデルやデータの取得範囲などとの関連性などの視座を整理することができたことは本企画調査の成果といえる.

Automobile Drivers' perception, cognition and behavior should be considered under so many conditions. The speed and distance perception and visibility of objects such as guidance signs are focused in this study, in relation with road geometry, road alignment, and surrounding traffic conditions under consideration of road safety and road efficiency (capacity). The purposes of the study are to develop a laboratory experiment system of drivers' behavior with visual technique of virtual reality and to construct the evaluation technique with the system comparing real world experiments. The drivers' cognition and behavior characteristics are tried to be examined from the view points of drivers' risk cognition.
This year, an experimental research was carried out for a curve section with 'MSIES (moving scenery image experiment system)', which is already developed in Tokyo Metropolitan University, creating the three-dimensional computer graphics model of visual environment of drivers. The experiment consists of comparison of novices and experts of drivers, and the cases used are with/without study of traffic safety devices, the difference of types of devices (post-cone and delineator) and heights and frequencies. The other experiment was also done for evaluating the intersection guidance sign system which consists of guidance system and supplement sign made of symbols or colors. Through these experiments, some of limitation of the system become clear ; screen resolution of general-purpose computer has limitation for the purpose of evaluation of starting point of recognition of signs, and reproducibility of speed perception. The experiment system is revealed to have some potential for laboratory experiments to evaluate driver's cognition.

本研究では、サンプル調査と交通量観測データを用いて推定されるOD交通量の精度について、
1.サンプル調査から推定されるOD交通量を自動的に補正するプログラムの開発
2.推定されたOD交通量の精度評価
を行なった。

サンプル調査に基づいて推定されたOD交通量を、別途計測されいる定点観測データを用いて自動的に補正するプログラムを開発した。
2.推定されたOD交通量の精度評価
実道路ネットワークを対象として、上記プログラムを用いて推定されたOD交通量の精度評価を行なった。具体的には、データが比較的整っている
(1)首都高速道路公団による首都高速道路交通起終点調査(平成7年度)
(2)建設省(現国土交通省)関東地方建設局による道路交通センサス(平成6年度)
を対象として、先に構築した○D推計モデルを用いてOD交通量を算出し、求められたOD交通量について、データ収集方法や補正方法と関係づけながら、推定されたODの精度を絶対誤差や相対誤差(標準偏差/平均値)といった指標を用いて検証した。
その結果、両対象データともに、日単位のレベルではかなり信頼性の高い結果が得られるが、時間単位では信頼性の低い結果しか得られないということを定量的に確認した。

We propose the model for estimating time-dependent OD matrices from traffic counts in a general network with route choice activities.
Many dynamic traffic simulation models have been developed in order to reproduce traffic conditions and evaluate policies of traffic control, signal control, one-way traffic control and so on. Such a dynamic model needs a time-dependent OD,especially one composed of small OD zones. However, it is hard to estimate OD flows directly from OD survey. In this study, we thus propose a dynamic estimator using time-dependent traffic counts to obtain time-dependent OD volumes.
The model consists of two parts : (1) construction of the relationship between the time-dependent OD volumes and traffic counts at links and (2) estimation of a unique time-dependent OD matrices. In the first part, we define a three-dimensional network to relate OD matrices to traffic flow on links. We then propose a method of estimating route choice probabilities. In the second part, we employ the Entropy Maximizing method for the staic OD matrices estimation and extend it to time-dependent model. As an extension, we propose a simplified method of estimating route choice probability and a method to utilize aggregated prior OD information.
At the last, we apply the model to a test network and examine its validity.
